Thank you for clicking on this video and I hope you enjoy my ramblings about video games. Please subscribe to the channel for more future content. Still working my way round how to best edit these videos, but for the sake of time, I try and get it all in one shot!
Today I talk about my two reasons why the gaming industry is hurting right now. One is DEI led games trying to infuse their ideology into our beloved video games the other is cooperate greed - Sony/Ubisoft - I'm looking at you.
It's hard to keep shouting at them to stop killing my games and I fear apathy will one day set in - just like it did for Concord, no one cared by the end. no one cared about the game or that people will lose jobs. No one will care with EA closes Bioware after the bomb that with be Dragon age - and lastly no one will case when Ubisoft goes under.
The gaming community is in sync and it's awesome to watch the arrogance of both DEI and Businesses as they lose their minds because their games made no money.
PS: I'm trying to be a little more charismatic - but I really am not an entertainer :D

DEI is making games not fun thank god people are finally going against it
It is a cultural rejection. Games are dying as soon they are released. People are losing their jobs and companies are closing... What more of a sign do they need that this won't fly with the 99% of actual paying customers.

Yeah it only took these genuis gamers almost 2 decades to realize this. Gaming, movies, comics, and music took a nosedive starting around late 2000's when Obama invented SJWs and they, in turn, invented woke.
All of these gaming devs today were educated under Obama, they seriously don't know anything else except for leftist political activism.

I got a steam deck oled in the beginning of the year, I just finished replaying the whole halo franchise (currently on reach which I saved for last) fuck new games

I agree with most of your comment. I also am playing older games to be fair - mainly because I have a huge back log and they are cheaper now - compared to the 60 to 70 bucks you need to buy new games - especially when most of them are just so poor.
The other part, when its not your money or problem - in theory that's true. But the old saying comes to mind, "if good people do nothing" then they will keep gaining ground and eventually we won't own good games anymore - it won't be long you'll have stream a game on a monthly subscription and have adds pop up in the middle of game play :)

@@crossslashgame All we have to do is do "nothing". Gillette made a commercial bashing men, they lost 9 billion dollars or something like that. A feminist vegan restaurant had a 18% more taxes for men, they closed.
All of these companies are not making games anymore, they are making woke political agendas and pushing their ideologies through video games to indoctrinate children. All we have to do, is never buy their products anymore, to the point they see what they have done to their community. Companies like Bethesda, Larian Studios, Capcom, Ubisoft, Blizzard and many others, never buy their games anymore, problem solved.
They've said - "you will own nothing and will be happy". Well, let's also say to them - "You will never own our money and you'll be happy". Video games are a luxury, and if you think about it, we kinda don't need them, find something else to do or go play the older games from older consoles, you don't need to consume every game that is out there.
My god when are we gunna get a good video game. It’s like they don’t want our money. Then whine when they close their doors.
the paying customer isn't the target audience anymore apparently - now it's this mythical unicorn named the modern audience - basically people who are activists - shout and comment to be respected and represented, but when it happens they are no where to be seen - as per the recent Concord and Dustborn examples.
too many of deepshits give them money for DLC, and sloppy 3/10 games, so now they care only about ideology and not about quality of product
Indie games exist. Theres some select aaa games that are pretty good.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is coming out next year. Also like Wizard_Pikachu says you can check out some indies. Generally stuff from Eastern Europe and Asia is pretty based.

Watching multi-million dollar AAA videogames fall on their face is more entertaining than playing video games these days.

We are witnessing the AAA gaming apocalypse. It's over.
There's still a chance to save it. After Assassin's Creed Shadows releases along with Dragon Age, we will see the ground fall underneath these corpos and they will have to reverse back to previous good practices, to start making money again - which in turn will bring out good games again. I hope! 🙏

I was genuinely enthusiastic about the game prior to the demonstration of the CC. The inability to create a curvaceous female character without the use of mods in 2024 is mind-blowing to me. Starfield had the same issue.
I think we all felt that way. I have nothing against the director, but they just proved everyone right again, that living your life based on ideological view of the world only bleeds into the art you're making. The game is pretty bland looking, CC is actually very exclusive rather than inclusive at this point. Gameplay looks meh.
You can make curvy female characters, I've seen screenhots. I'll be making a curvy lady elf.

Oddly no SBI type company has been named in the making of DA game that I know of. But I would say there may not be one, because Bioware has had 10 years to change the culture in the studio from the ground up. Basically to get the ISG funding, they would've had to hire all DEI hires - which have more knowledge on the subject, voiding the need to get external help from a DEI consulting company. I might be wrong - but the reason SBI exists is because devs needs to show their cultural change with their business and through the products they make - sometimes rather than hire internal staff, they outsource the DEI material to consultants like SBI to tick that box.

The pronouns and the top surgery nonsense tells me that it's all throughout the game. You think they would just stop at character creator? I guarantee you there are more characters in the game that clashes with the fantasy element.
I don't Dragon Age will have received as much attention to choice mechanics as Boulder's Gate 3. BG3 is loved by all, because it was a fun game made for everyone because of the fast array of choices. DA won't be that complete. I say this because on trying to be inclusive in its character creation, it became the most exclusive CC in history. Less is more as they say. If you focus on stuff, then you alienate you're actual audience.
Luckily I stopped caring about Dragon Age since Origins.
I keep hearing Origins was peak DA. I enjoy inquisition at the time.
@crossslashgame yes DAO was the peak, DA2 was eh, DA3 it was good with the open world aspect of it.

Concord will at the very least need a reskin of the characters if Sony want a prayer of seeing a return on their $400 million investment.
Concord will definitely need a complete overhaul from looks to marketing. But receive a return on £400 million, that's a big ask.
Concord is more valuable to Sony as a massive tax credit as a total loss.
This is why they reimbursed all purchases to qualify for that credit.
I'm surprised the studio is still opened to be fair. Heads will roll I'm sure.

Toxic positivity is a real issue. Access media keep doing this for fear of losing their access. So they say a bad game is a good game. How can you trust the media, if they are in bed with the publisher/developer..?

The game is tempting ngl, but I'm never gonna let these woke bastards take my money.
It really depends - I don't feel like playing this game when comparing it to what came before. The character creation just put me off.
In a vacuum I wouldn't care about the scars (Krem was in DAI after all) but starting with the trailer and since the devs started doing interviews this game feels less and less like a DA game to me. And people did comment about the gameplay when the gameplay video dropped a few months ago along with how bad things like the demons looked and other stuff, the scars thing is just low hanging fruit at this point.
Kind of sad, I went from looking forward to this game as a fan of the franchise to disinterest over the course of a few months, good job Bioware.
This iteration just feels bland - it looks like an early PS3 game at times... I'm not sold on it regardless of the other political issues - even if they had been fixed. The MC creation just drove me over the edge - lets see if the modern audience will save this game. I predict not - yet again.

@@crossslashgame I can deal with meh graphics, I've been playing POE for over a decade at this point and the graphics are ok at best. What keeps me playing is the gameplay which GGG mostly got right in that game.
DA:O hooked me on the series with the story and while 3 was kind of disappointing it still felt like DA. I have a hard time believing these devs understand what old fans of the game enjoyed when they don't even know who Zevran is.

not if they start to lose more money than they make. Keep your money in your wallet and the more flops the less of this pollical stuff you will see - eventually. We had it good once, we can have it again - nothing is mutually exclusive or lasts forever. We are still the paying customer and we have the power to implement change over time.
if any game is connected to DEI atm it won't do well - or not as well as the devs expect.

My sister in law thinks it is cool you can do the scars. Her scars are from a double mastectomy though. Not sure why people care so much about those scars.
yeah the argument of why people care so much is very contradictory and doesn't argue any specific point. The same could be said about anything you care deeply care for, but no one else does.
In this game you can't create a woman with a big round backside and busty breast - meaning in an attempt to be inclusive, they have excluded the majority of natural women.

@@crossslashgame Thing with the scars in particular, it could have just been one character designer threw it in and nobody kicked back and they left it in. I think people are possibly thinking too deep into it. Or, who knows, maybe they have a big collusion about forcing the trans thing and they had meetings and ulterior motives to undermine the non lgbt community. The character creation team likely isn’t a large group.
@@scootsmcdoots80 based on some internal accounts at the Firewall team, it seems toxic positivity to be the main issue. No one could criticize anything about the game and they just kept doubling down. What I mean is, if anyone said "maybe don't put the scars" they would then fear for their job, because they might be going against the established narrative - or worse, being branded transphobic.
There's a lot going on in these videos game companies... And there's no better proof for this, than the games themselves.

Dragon Age Origins is the only Dragon Age game you need to play, anything after that deteriorated in quality. Dragon Age Origins even has an end epilogue. There wasn’t meant to be a sequel. They shoehorned sequels and woke propaganda soon after that.

This is the issue, as soon as we realize who's at the helm, it starts becoming safe to assume that the game will be full to the brim with their ideological view of the world. The character creator alone is enough for me to not touch that game.
Veilguard looks rather good. It's good to see almost universal praise coming from the content creators' previews.
I appreciate your opinion - but I would exercise caution with the previews feedback - because the only people that get 'access' to the previews are the 'access' media - who can't literally say anything bag about a game - otherwise they will lose their 'access'. All I see from major gaming publications is this positivity for a game that relays their progressive message.

@@crossslashgame You're welcome. I do have skepticism when it comes to sites like IGN, GameSpot etc. We make our own judgments about which creators we respect. I rate Skill Up who rejects payment for travel & accommodation. Similarly Luke Stephens an EA critic. Both were impressed and said so. Others I rate: RPG Site, Giant Bomb. So yes, your advice of caution is valid. Creators as I've mentioned don't give a stuff about their access rights. In the past they said what they want and they rate Veilguard highly, so on their insight (not everyones) I'm on board.
@@crossslashgame As far as progressive. I'm seeing accessibility features that grant immersion to different people. I won't use those toggles, no skin off my nose. Those options existing don't impact me at all.

Game "journalists" keep hyping up the character creator like Dragon age fans have been clamoring for it for years. Dragon Age Origins is one of my favorite games of all times and I could care less about spending hours creating a character and the only reason I would spend any amount of time doing it is to create an Asian goddess with a perfect ass so I have some eye candy to look at as I play. But I'm not allowed to do that am I? The people who made this game are insufferable and the people who they made it for are insufferable and never in my life have I wanted to see a game fail as bad as I want this game to fail. Normally I will just ignore a game I'm not interested in, but not for this game, I will actively do my part to make it fail by telling anybody who will listen what utter garbage it is. To hell with this game and to hell with the political agenda that spawned it. It is evil and it perverts and ruins everything it touches.
yeah the male gaze is a big issue for these people. The sexualisation of women is such a bad argument - because actual women (no matter their looks) like to dress and feel sexy. Look at cosplays!
This is just them projecting their insecurities on to a gaming audience who completely rejects this opinion. One day they will say a Ferrari is too sexy and provocative, so the manufactures have to make ugly cars from now on. The people (man or woman) who love themselves for who they are, are truly happy.
The people who have a mental health illness, like gender dysphoria (which I would not wish on anyone) instead of getting the help they need, decided that the world should conform to their reality instead. So here we are - scars and all.
I wanted it noted, I don't disagree with representation - I disagree with how its being implemented - because there are many examples of heroes of all genders and races over the years - and the reason no one talks about them, is because they were implemented correctly, and their story doesn't revolved around their race or sexual identity - as no story should.
As Morgan Freeman said, just stop talking about it.

So, I used to agree heavily with your position when I was like maybe 15 or so, but as I grew up I started to realize it's not "dei" that was making games unfun it's actually corporate greediness, and let me tell you these giant CEOs love the fact that we're putting the blame on "dei" instead of them.
Sony loved losing 400 million on Concord? That's some odd greediness.

Were it greed, you could not force them to put "top surgery" scars.
I think both DEI and Greed are the cause - because there was alot of money injected because of spreading the DEI message - but they forgot about one big point in all this. That we the consumers aren't stupid and we can read between the lines.
Greed is what lost them that money. Live service games are a big gamble - not every game can do what Fortnite did.
