    Gotcha has been so gentle around Oliver from a distance.
    He's never been close enough to bite, regardless of how sweet he acts I won't risk them getting too close to each other.
    Letty on the other hand acts a little bit like she wants a piece of the baby so she's not allowed close to him at all just yet. Lol miss sassy pants 😉.
    My husband shook his head and was annoyed because he HATES being on camera lol. 😜
    Also please dont think that I give Gotcha more attention than my son, Ollie is my world! I love him more than I ever thought was possible.
    He was simply a little fussy and whiny, and the video is only a little over a minute long 😉.
    He gets all the love and attention a little boy could ever want or need 💗.
    Thanks for watching! 💙
    ❗️❗️❗️85% of parrots are either resold, given away, or abandoned within just 2 short years of being purchased.
    I cannot stress enough how heartbreaking this sad truth is.... Too many people impulse buy parrots because of cute or funny traits they'vet seen in other birds.
    A life stuck in a cage is cruel and so unfair to these magnificent beautiful creatures.
    They deserve the absolute best!
    So if you are interested in a parrot, adopt one because you have the time and energy and if you want to save them from a life stuck behind bars, not solely because they are cute or funny etc.
    parrots are a LIFETIME commitment. They can live up to 80+ years!!
    I've given up many many things the to give my two parrots the best life they can possibly have!
    Please do your research before adopting.
    After all, we have our friends, our jobs, and our hobbies.
    They only have us💗❗️❗️

    I've worked with young children and families for over 40 years. No one can make a judgment on parenting based on 1:17 minutes of family time unless someone is doing something realllllly inappropriate. In the meantime, it is hilarious to hear our Gotcha imitating Oliver's crying. You're the sweetest gentlest folks I've seen yet, with people and animals. Warms the heart to watch. So happy for your wonderful family. Keep the vids coming!!!

      If you’re talking about letting the baby cry for a little while. I’ve seen experienced mothers do that. It’s supposed to be good to let the baby cry some. It clears out the lungs and gives them a little cardio workout.

    I wish people could keep their opinions to themselves unless you are asked for help. Everyone is an expert..... Not !,!! This is a gorgeous video showing how gentle Gotcha is when near the baby. Gotcha is speaking soooo softly and actually trying baby language. It's sweet. He is an amazing bird and you are great parents. It's cute that he is making the same sounds. He is trying to assess the situation. Sweet.

      True as parrots can live into their 100's, especially if well cared for like Gotcha. Albeit people are living long too ie. in the Blue Zones, there are five on earth where there are high numbers of centenarians. If people eat healthy ie. a vegan diet which reduces risks for heart disease/strokes/cancer....exercise regularly, take K2/D3/calmag/omega threes from flax, algae, and walnuts for example/B vitamins best I think from food source verses synthetic vitamins, think positive, have compassion for oneself and all others..all these factors contribute to long healthy lives. At the turn of the century it was a celebration to reach 70 in high quality health now many people do, I think 120-140 is the next benchmark with all that we are learning about health and nutrition from western to eastern medicine and philosophies.

    I love this!!! Gotcha is just trying to comfort and mimic Oliver. So cute. My husband and I owned two African Greys until they passed. When I watched Letty trying to get close to baby it was an expression of curiosity and protection. Greys have the highest emotional and Intellectual IQ. I am so blessed by your videos, when I am sick it cheers me up all the time. Pretty soon Gotcha or Letty will be trying to feed Oliver. Blessings to your family.

    How cute is Gotcha reassuring the baby by telling him he loves him!! So Sweet. You mentioned (somewhere??) that Gotcha started out wanting to bite family members. Did he ever try to bite you? How did you extinguish biting behavior? What did you do to build trust when you first adopted him? How did he develop such a vocabulary? The loving kindness in your family is remarkable. I am so happy for you to now add little Oliver to the "brood." What a beautiful baby, beautiful family. Kate, your laughter cracks me up!

    • @GotchaBird
      @GotchaBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Donna ☺️ gotcha has bit me many times.
      Though he clicked and developed a relationship right away, there was still an aggressive side to gotcha that would come out of the blue from time to time.
      Thankfully though he's never bit me with the intention of doing serious damage.
      Moluccan cockatoos can deliver a bite force of up to 500 lbs.
      he has drawn blood and bruised but thankfully he hasn't sent me to the ER for stitches.

    • @GotchaBird
      @GotchaBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As far as helping to stop the biting goes, birdy timeouts are the most affective!
      Let's him know that he was naughty and to not display such behavior while still maintaining a healthy relationship and not harming our bond.
      When he's naughty or showing aggressive behavior I simply tell him NO give him a disappointed glare, toss a designated "naughty towel" over him, gently place him in his cage and cover him up so its dark, for 10-20 minutes maximize.
      Then when his timeout is over I uncover him like nothing happened!
      I've repeated and stayed consistent with this method and it's very affective ☺️

    • @GotchaBird
      @GotchaBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      He developed his vocabulary on his own.
      Each parrot is so different! Some can say hundred of words and phrases and sounds while I've known others to never speak a word their whole lives.
      Earning a parrots trust just takes a lot of time, patience, understanding, and unconditional love.
      Sometimes it can take a few weeks, or a few months, or even well over a year or more to earn their trust.
      It all depends on the dedication on the person, the personality of the bird, how well the 2 click, and many other factors play a role in earning trust.
      Ultimately though it just takes a lot of love time and commitment. 💙💜💗

    LOL It is easy to predict that Oliver's first words may be taught by Gotcha.

    I got booted from a Facebook group of Conure owners because I let my bird and my cat hang out together. Didn't matter how careful I was, how completely I explained the specific situation and circumstances, you'd have thought little Justice would have been better off being destroyed when he hatched, than to be living with me and the devil feline. (Justice was born without feet and the breeder was going to kill him because she couldn't make enough profit off him. All my babies are rescues.) Anyway, carry on mama! Your babies look fat and happy!

    Awwwww.... that is so sweet of Gotcha. Sounds like he was also trying to say Oliver as well as mimic his crying. Gotcha isn't quite sure other than assure Oliver verbally about what to do about the crying lol.. Just such an adorable catch Momma Katie. Just love this one

    Glad to see all yr family is important and that at a really young age Oliver is learning that by crying doesn't mean you move Gotcha for him....I think Gotcha knows how important Oliver is☺
