IF you ever need a birdsitter call me. I still miss my own cockatoo, called Happy who sadly passed away two years ago. I am not sure if anyone could ever fill his shoes.... maybe Joseph could, even for a short period of time. He is absolutely adorable...
Cockatoos are the most cuddly of all parrots but its a double edged sword, they become so bonded to their human that when they are seperated they pull out their own feathers. They become self destructive easier than other birds as well. Its amazing to see such a mentally healthy and happy cockatoo.
You are so lucky! Joseph is the sweetest. He is so intelligent. You both are very kind to him and treat him so well, it's nice to see how much you love him and he definitely loves both of you. Thank You for sharing Joseph with us. God Bless.

Even the most aggressive cockatoo at the rescue where I volunteer has never made any deliberate effort to harm anybody. These birds are not dangerous. sure, they have capacity to bite, but they would rather fly away than bite. It all depends on the individual bird..... Please dont generalize by species since that is the cause of many complications parrot owners face. Its all about the individual bird, not what species it belongs to. I'm not trying to be rude or contradictory, just fixing a common misconception. It is still correct to handle any large parrot with care, but there is no need to be afraid.

Josephs vocal INFLECTIONS are so perfect ! His voice sound goes up + down in rhythm just exactly like yours !!!!!!!!!!! Joseph is so tuned in to you both.

Many years ago here, had a Cockatoo, Macaw and a mean green parrot. The Macaw was the best. The Cockatoo only liked men, was male, and showered with my brothers. Could bite if a woman. The Macaw the only one who could be left on a perch with no cage in front of a big window. Different type of Cockatoo, but white, more yellow head plumage, exactly like the one that TV series detective Tony Baretta had. All were in front of big windows with little direct sunlight, and open water views. Big oak tree and facing north, made sure of that. We also had a black toy poodle, and three Pomeranians. The poodle, she was so smart and sweet.
Boy he is so happy to see you. The way he kept putting his foot up to climb up on you. Then he gave you the biggest kiss, sorted his feathers. He is pure bliss.
Such a sweet bird - I have an African Gray who is 30 years old ... this video should make people aware how sensitive and incredibly needy these birds are - there are thousands of then in rescues...They require constant attention and don’t do well left alone - they get bored and neurotic .. it would be like leaving a 3 year old in a crib all day...you are wonderful bird parents to Joseph,
