Being an angler of 60+yrs, I must thank you for being the most informative/helpful angler on TH-cam (along with Jamie Hughes). Your hints/tips have certainly improved my catch rates as a pleasure angler, which obviously adds to the enjoyment of just being on the bank. Thank You so much for sharing these improvements to presentation, which, no matter how much you pay for rods/reels/poles etc., the bait presentation is the most important factor in angling. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I tie my hair rigs in exactly the same way. But having big clumsy fingers I used to struggle holding the hook securely without it moving while whipping the shank. So I got myself a fly tying vice to hold the hook securely for me and that made tying my hairs massively easier and a lot more accurately. I hope this tip might help some people with the same problem I used to have make their hair tying less stressful . Great vid Jon as always!

I'm not brilliant at holding fiddly things but I enjoy fly fishing also and tie my own flies - I find the use of a fly tying vice is also helpful with tying hook lengths etc. They can be found quite cheaply on eBay etc and if you struggle with dexterity can be a great help.

Thanks Ian. It's worked for me on Big Gearys, but the jury's still out as to whether it's better than other techniques. It's certainly faffier!

I prefer the twisted spike when using softer baits like chick peas and the spike for small harder pellets/boilies/wafters.. Thanks Jon picked up a bit more knowledge keep em coming. Will try the softer hair when I am allowed out again !!

Excellent video Jon, thanks. When would you use the softer braid type hair and the stiff twizzled hair please? Also what are the stots used for in the latter tank test? Are they to pin down pop up baits? Many thanks

Great video, kd rigged hair could be worth having a little play with, used d rigs forever on much heavier gear but really impressed with the look and separation of the rig when scaled down 👏👍

Hi, brill video which has helped me to understand how it is tied. I have tried Push Stops with braid but do not get a clean cut. Appreciate the ones you recommend have a larger hole so should be easier but wonder if you can recommend so good braid scissors that get a clean cut ? Appreciate your help. Cheers Bob

I've watch this over and over, made a few up to try, & just started buying Matrix hooks, I must say" best hooks I've had in my hands.
