I add duckweed to my "tank jello". I started using baby food because as you said it is already liquid (and I did not have a good blender - my wife stood guard over hers so I eventually bought one for myself). I also use Pam (aerosol cooking fat) to line my ice cube trays before I freeze the jello so the cubes fall out easier. I bought the fish shaped ice cube trays at IKEA at the suggestion of my wife. I have large cichlids so I put a whole cube or two into my tanks. Always love your videos. Jealous that you are able to buy so much online (especially fish). No one ships to Canada. Thanks again for your efforts. Always watching.

Great video, Jason! I make fish crack every now and again...usually when my wife is out of town (funny how that works out). I use beef heart, and I also thrown in some raw frozen shrimp or prawns, or a slices of salmon or tuna from left over sashimi or sushi. I like to make it heavy with proteins, with a lot of baby food made with mushed peas, and pureed spinach. I throw in flake food or pellet foods grounded up in the coffee grinder (shhhh, don't tell my wife ..."Gee, I'm not sure why your coffee tastes fishy!"). I hold it all together with Knox gelatin. Great stuff! Thanks for posting!

I make DiY gel food as well. Always best to do when the wife isn’t around. That way you don’t need to buy a replacement blender. 🤣 Because I use this for my omnivore and carnivore plecos, I like to toss in some additional meaty proteins like fresh shrimp, mussels, freeze dried black worms and frozen bloodworms. 😉👍

Many years ago, I was making beef heart based fish food. Back when beef heart was dirt cheap, found in almost every (maybe all) grocery store's meat/butcher displays. In essence, before the big grocery chain stores massive (takeover) proliferation.
Anyways, sorry for babbling. Here's the gist of my Commenting - *Blooming gelatin* is a step integral to ensuring the smooth texture of a finished product. It involves sprinkling the powdered gelatin into a liquid and letting it sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Then, when the mixture is heated/or not, the gelatin will dissolve evenly. You can bloom gelatin in just about any liquid.

Slowly catching up on fishy videos. Love this one! I make "snello" all the time for my mystery snails, but my guppies love it equally as much. Like you, I prefer to make mine out of real veggies instead of baby food. it's a good way to get rid of fruit/veggies my family doesn't eat - I just throw them in some snello.
