painting black models. Like deathwatch, black templars or similar. Somthing that has black as a base colour and some highlights. Honestly I've been struggling with my deathwatch for a while and don't like the result.
In a bit of a painting lull personally and videos like this inject a little life into my hobby motivation. Thanks for the upload... there might be a new bottle of silver getting bought here locally as well thanks to this tutorial.
Just like to say you have a great channel and it was nice to briefly meat you and get a selfie with you ( something I never do)at elemental games yesterday 😊
I have some Tau battlesuits still in the box and the main thing stoping me from painting them was the daunting feeling of just lashing metallic paint all over them and trying to pull the shine back with Nuln Oil. This is such a cleaner way of doing them and honestly might have to get some new Brushes to do it ;)
Yeah buddy! It's a joy a promise :). store.artis-opus.com/ Series D+ Set and an XL texture palette would be my weapons of choice. Don't be afraid to use the big brushes 🖌🖌
This reminds me of back in the 90's when graphic designers were using Photoshop and Kai's Power Tools to create 2d representations of neon, metal, fire, and water for web pages. I just channel me from 30 years ago and I don't have an issue doing NMM and OSL.
Does using the metallic paint with the Series D brush contaminate it for the future? Do you find flecks in the finish of subsequent paint jobs? Those little mica/aluminium flecks usually wreck any natural hair bristle detail brushes. Have you seen any deterioration in the hog bristles of the dry brush?
When you are dry brushing like this you use so little paint you also brush almost all of it out at the end using the dampening pad. I've never had a metallic paint contaminate in any noticeable way
Binxy has answered this fantastically! What he said. If you don't overload the brush and you keep it at the tips you simply completely avoid the root cause of the problems... all the while helping your drybrushing stay smooth and your brushes last forever! We have cleaning coming as a video by the way, this is covered specifically.
Amazing! I got an Video idea or better a request: Crystals! Nice shiny / maybe glowing Crystals! Like the ones wich are on the Ground/Base. I watches a few Videos but ... I struggle to make em realy pop.
This is the real question, whatever that stuff is, I need it. Nevermind, look into the video description, there is a link to another video on how to strip paint off models
The brushes are great but find that they shrink in size with use. I emailed them about this and never got a response, but only noticed it when i ordered a new brush. My used one was so much shorter and you couldn't' really lightly brush with them anymore. My new one also already showing same symptoms and have only had it for a few months. I you have the brush case, you can see they made room for what the brush size should be, mine don't even come close to filling their designated spots .
There's a good reason I have held off combining the two techniques on videos. It's coming I promise! Holy trinity for army production is Airbrush, Drybrush, Wash!
Between the constant moving of the model and the light shining directly on it and reflecting, making the colors really hard to see, this video is really difficult to follow.

no worries, I've found your black armour tutorial :)
I’d like to see how you approach the use of inks
This is the first time I've seen a T'au Battle suit leg drybrushed in silver metallic. It's pure silver, nice work!
Awesome looking metallic that is Byron
And RIP Game Air Silver as it’s now impossible to get hold of
Thanks! My favourite speed painting, I think!
Looks amazing! Do you have a tutorial on the tau armor panel as well?
Seconding this!

To quote JayZ: ArticOpus you are a genius, you did it again!

🪦RIP silver paint, you were here since day zero, seeing this channel grow this much.
Ikr. Sad times.

I’d love to see an Imperial Knight painted up by you!
Beautiful result again made to look effortless! Do you think vallejo metal color paints would work or would they be too thin?
Funny, i started my Iron Snakes Space Marines this week. Mostly the way i do, but i added a black oilwash in between.
Another mix with a similar effect is a black ink mixed with a contrast medium. The ink does not dull the modell metal matt like a nuln oil.
About to start an Questoris Knight, so the timing couldn't be better.
Same haha
Fantastic video!
Thanks for sharing.

Best looking TMM in the world!
Also, RIP game air silver.
Thank you! And indeed 🪦🪦🙏
Any plans for a GUO video, Byron? That head looks unreal! 😮
Another video on this metal technique and still no flesh video. Drybrush some skin for us Byron! 🙏
Can you show how you did the armor panels?
Perhaps as the next video! :)
Beautiful
A moment of silence please...que ad set at +40db
The last laugh of VGA Silver!

LOL dry brushing silvers over black is how it used to be done in the 80's went I started in the hobby!
So sorry to see your devastating loss early on in this video! A brush and a paint, taken far too soon! Bless them all and RIPS!!!
looking forward to seeing you down beachhead2025 in Bournemouth !
Is there an alternative to Game air silver you'd reccomend?
May I ask, what is it that you're putting the paints onto and applying the druybrush to? Thanks.
What did you use to strip the model?
This is the real question, whatever that stuff is, I need it.

Lest we forget. Rip the channels first paint. You're in a better place now. Painting with the gods.
Rest in power little paint 🤘
Rip
In his time he's painted a good 4 armies. At least he lived a long life!
@ArtisOpus a good life. They will be missed.
RIP!
He served well!
@@ArtisOpus it’s a shame we can’t inter him in a dreadnaught and let him carry on his service! Probably the best know bottle of air colour on TH-cam 🤣
🪦 RIP 🪦
Well time to bust out my gundams
RIP in Piece 😂

One day we’ll finally need to tell this poor fella that airbrushes exist😅

You can slow it down
+1 for practical advice!
Did anyone else have the motion issues? If it's been an issue for multiple people we will look into it.
