Photographing the Church in the Sea, Wales - It's a short one! Here's a question for you... Did the Sewer outlet work? I'm still in two minds. My good pal Jason (Jason Jones Photography) did an amazing job here too TAKE A LOOK th-cam.com/video/yfEoLUuQZOk/w-d-xo.html
I liked the sewer drain shot, but thought the church is a bit lost in it. It is so far away and kind of blends into the clouds. Nice shot anyway, and great video, thanks!
The shot worked, leading lines at a diagonal draw in the eye. The mixed light is a little confusing, The sewer outlet is a bit bright for the composition to be entirely effective...we are trained to see depth with darks in the front and lights in the back. bring down the light on the sewer and puff up the light in the still water off in the right side and see if that brings you closer to one mind. You have a fantastic eye nonetheless. Bravo!
Of the many youtube photographers I follow, Gary you are the one I find the most inspiring to make me want to get out and shoot. Your shots are all top notch; not just something to fill out a video. Your relaxed presentation style is great. Thanks for sharing!
I was lucky enough to visit this amazing place in the summer and you’ve done it proud. Great drone footage and really like the sunset shots. Always enjoy your vlogs especially when its somewhere I know.
Gary, I really appreciate your telling the story from the "git-go." You're like the postman, whether heat, cold, rain, hail, or gloom of night, you always deliver the "mail." And about "mail," your Christmas card is outbound this week! Thank-You, Mike
Done it again Mr G, another great location, another great vlog and plenty of great pictures. Liking the quick way of getting dressed at the beginning of the video. Defo loving the shots once the tide came in.
Fabulous vlog, very tranquil and calming excellent to watch, images as always Gary first class. My favorite so far. The setting info that you put up brilliant, ideal for when out and about and experimenting.
Yes watched them all, just a bit jealous for those that are joining you on your next trip up to Sky, we are hoping to go back up maybe beginning of March.
Yes watched them all, just a bit jealous for those that are joining you on your next trip up to Sky, we are hoping to go back up maybe beginning of March.
Cheers. Didn't have the drone set correctly. Here's to the next flight 😉 Quick question... do you use ND filters? Do you shoot in Manual? Do you stick to the framerate equation?
7 ปีที่แล้ว
I don't own the Mavic but I don't like using ND filters myself. I shoot in auto - check out the Polar Pro app, will be very useful for your ND filters for the settings and frame rate! :)
Great and inspiring vlog again Gary, what a privilage it is for you to live in the UK and are able to access all these photogenic sceneries. Getting the long exposure fever as well, love to do that kind of photography since a couple of months..
Great video and beautiful photos as always Gary. Keep up the great work. Your enthusiasm is infectious. All the best ! Gil from Largo, FL, USA aka SemperFiGuy
Trying new gear. I really bolloxed up on this one. unfortunately, I have loads of content I can't add because of focus and framerate issues. My bad, DOH! This is why the video end prematurely :)
great video and lovely images Gary. I was very unsure about the sewer shot until I saw the image itself - very nice indeed. My favourite is your nominated favourite - really lovely image; I thought the foreground balanced the church nicely, whereas in a couple of the earlier images I found the rock in the foreground a little too large. love your work Gary, many thanks
Video should be called, how to make a great photo of sewer....😉😉😉. Have to agree with you about the favourite, worthy of a place on the wall. Great pics and video as always. Cheers John
Amazing vlog Gary blew me away...no it really is that good flicking from b+w to colour image and the music made the shot come alive I think. Thanks and Wow 💪
Hi Gary, while you were describing the sewer shot it sounded an appalling idea, I might have walked away and how wrong I would be! you have some nice shots there and I might now revisit the sewer outflows on the beach near here! see you soon Del.
Great trick, jumping up and changing jackets. Thomas(you know who I'm talking about) does that too. Adds some humor to the thing. This is after ten seconds of the vid, I'm sure there will be a hundred other things that will catch my eye.
Another great video Gary - how the hell did I miss the night with you and Thomas Heaton, oh well if you do another - cheers mate and keep the vids coming you deserve all the success
great vlog gary yes the sewage outlet shot really worked well great shot, also loved the 30 sec image "your favourite", also a great intro really well put together
Gary.... super shots. Really liked your composition. You have such a relaxed no big ego style in your vlogs but so many of your shots are really epic. I also like the way you support up and coming photography youtubers such as Award winning Steve Mattheis (excellent wildlife and landscapes). You give back to the community. Kudos to you....
Great content once again Gary... I enjoyed them all btw. The close-up long exp. with the sea coming in, you nailed it sir! The Church in the Sea, what a strange yet beautiful place to be... Bill Farr...:>)
Hi Gary... I was compelled to watch this a 2nd time & glad I did! What I see is you moving around a bit looking for new or better angles. The level horizon as you slowly move across it, one can see the photograph developing into something really special. Nice drone work along with the soothing music tended to marry it all together nicely. Well done, Bill Farr...
Another set of stunning images Gary. If I were to hyper-critical (which I'm not) the red "mast" of lights in the background caught my eye, once seen always dragging me back to it. Great vlog as usual, well done!
Very nice Gary! I like your way of seeing things...If i may comment, i think that you should have placed the camera on the right of the rock (at 4:52) taking in the reflection of the small pool of water surrounding it. With a proper angle, it could mirror the sky making the whole image better (imho) by adding another strong front element.
You may comment indeed. I took the shot from both sides of the rock but decided to process the one on the right. I can't remember why I decided on that, as opposed to the other, I'll have to look at them both again. Always happy to listen to comments, engagement is what it's all about. Cheers
Hi Jason. I put a link to your video in my comment, hope you don't mind. Yeah, I just don't understand it. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed but there was wind noise evident too and yet look at my camera strap, it wasn't moving. I had the wind muff on too pfffff

Welcome back Gary, was beginning to get withdrawl symptoms...lol. Fantastic images as always. I have been wanting to visit here for quite a while but not managed it yet. Thanks.
Wow what a location, that was worth waiting for Gary, stunning. Did you use radial filter on the Church in the water outlet shots? They were my personal favs but that last one also brilliant such clear photographs. Thank you.
Cracking intro and some fab images Gary. Still marvelling at the drone footage at the beginning - still can't work out how you did that? Visited this location back earlier in the year and it was a blue sky day & to be honest I was not very inspired - seeing these images I didn't try hard enough I reckon :)

Worked well Gary. Shame about that cloud on the horizon :(
I thought it was a beautiful view.
Very clever opening video sequence Gary, and the sewer outlet pipe image works really well, as does the final image.
Cheers Paul. I had 2 other changes I filmed at the beginning but I messed up doh! :)
Of the many youtube photographers I follow, Gary you are the one I find the most inspiring to make me want to get out and shoot. Your shots are all top notch; not just something to fill out a video. Your relaxed presentation style is great. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful images Gary. Really love the shot with the sewage outlet. What an unusual location!
Very unusual Trevor. That's why I earmarked it when I saw it on the Coast program. It's just an awesome place
This was so beautifully made, so inspiring! Thanks for your work!
Thanks Crystal
Beautifully done. Thanks for sharing

I was lucky enough to visit this amazing place in the summer and you’ve done it proud. Great drone footage and really like the sunset shots. Always enjoy your vlogs especially when its somewhere I know.
Cheers Gary. It was my first time there but when I arrived I just couldn't believe how fantastic it was.
Gary,
I really appreciate your telling the story from the "git-go." You're like the postman, whether heat, cold, rain, hail, or gloom of night, you always deliver the "mail."
And about "mail," your Christmas card is outbound this week!
Thank-You,
Mike
Not quite like a real postman. In the UK Postmen wear shorts, no matter the weather. I'm not that brave :)
Done it again Mr G, another great location, another great vlog and plenty of great pictures. Liking the quick way of getting dressed at the beginning of the video. Defo loving the shots once the tide came in.
Cheers Tony, it's a much better scenario than getting undressed at the beginning. Imagine the decline in subs ;)
I have got to say i agree, with you on that shot. its one of the best i have seen of the church... i got nothing when i was there got to go back again
Cheers Paul. The low cloud was really annoying, such a shame
Beautiful images Gary … all of them !
Thanks Khalid, very kind
Wow... that is a beautiful location. And that camerawork at the beginning was awesome!
Not as good as I had hoped if I'm honest. I forgot to up the frame rate of my drone and so couldn't use it in slow motion like i had hoped.
Colour me impressed anyway!
Up to the usual high standard, worth waiting for.
Cheers Phil
A great job Gary ,very professional.
Thank you Malcolm
Fabulous vlog, very tranquil and calming excellent to watch, images as always Gary first class.

The vlog is very nicely produced, looks like you had a lot of fun with it.
Had a few issues I wasn't particularly happy with but thanks Patrick. 👍
Great video Gary and diggin the fancy bits. like you, I loved the last shot with the milky water surrounding the church. Great Vlog as always!
Cheers Simon. Had a few issues with my new vlogging gear, that's why it was a little short and seems unfinished. :)
It never occurred to me, other than the sound issue you pointed out!
Fantastic vlog and awesome images, love your favourite and the sewer one definitely works!
Thanks Jamie 👍
I really like the first black & white, with the large rock in the foreground. Another wonderful video! What a stunning location!

great video and lovely images Gary.
Cheers David. I think that's a fair shout. Sometimes Landscapes can feel a little cluttered. Prefer it with the tide in 👍
Another good one Gary, nice finished images.

Thank you kindly. I'm a Welsh man and I haven't photographed or even climbed Snowdon, that's embarrassing. I'll sort it in the new year
Gary Gough I wish, don’t think il ever walk it now but the train mmmmm 👍😄
Lol I am Welsh as well, taken 2 school trip driving a coach up to pen y pass but could not go 🙈😔
Oh noooo. That's a shame. A train you say? I will have to Google it
Gary Gough not the same as walking prob don’t see enough but better than not getting to the summit 👍😄
Awesome vlog Gary love all the images. The sewer image works as well. The first image give real perspective to the size of nature.
Cheers Tim. Totally agree btw. 👍
Hi Gary, while you were describing the sewer shot it sounded an appalling idea, I might have walked away and how wrong I would be! you have some nice shots there and I might now revisit the sewer outflows on the beach near here! see you soon Del.

Well, I guess. The church built up on that huge berm is unbelievable. I am going to look up the history of that.
Cheers Jeff, Not seen Tom do that. It's nothing new but it's a lot of fun doing it. I had 2 other things I filmed but I messed up DOH!
Awesome once again!
Thank you kindly 👍
Another great video Gary - how the hell did I miss the night with you and Thomas Heaton, oh well if you do another - cheers mate and keep the vids coming you deserve all the success

The close up of the church in one of those last shots is a belter! Great shots again, Gary. You must put in some mileage for your art mate :)
Cheers Dave and yes I do. It's difficult to lever it all in sometimes
Gary.... super shots. Really liked your composition. You have such a relaxed no big ego style in your vlogs but so many of your shots are really epic. Hi Gary..stunning location the sewer shot works really well in my opinion, as do all the others... particularly the ones after the tide came in.
Cheers John. I prefer the tide-in shots too if I'm honest
The sewer outlet for me mate awesome great vlog
Thank you
Cracking image's at the end Gary.
I think the sewer outlet could work well in B & W but it's down to your personal preference 😊
You might be right Mike about the B&W Mike, cheers 👍
Great content once again Gary... I enjoyed them all btw. The close-up long exp. with the sea coming in, you nailed it sir!
The Church in the Sea, what a strange yet beautiful place to be...
Bill Farr...:>)
Cheers Bill. Yeah, it's an amazing place. Already looking forward to a return visit.
Hi Gary... I was compelled to watch this a 2nd time & glad I did! What I see is you moving around a bit looking for new or better angles. The level horizon as you slowly move across it, one can see the photograph developing into something really special. Nice drone work along with the soothing music tended to marry it all together nicely.
Well done,
Bill Farr...
Another set of stunning images Gary. If I were to hyper-critical (which I'm not) the red "mast" of lights in the background caught my eye, once seen always dragging me back to it. Great vlog as usual, well done!
Cheers Rich, I did think about removing it :)
Very nice Gary! I like your way of seeing things...If i may comment, i think that you should have placed the camera on the right of the rock (at 4:52) taking in the reflection of the small pool of water surrounding it. Great video as always buddy :)
Paul G Johnson - Cheers Paul, very kind again xxx
Nice location look very familiar...good shots Gary...looks like the wind and water sound was getting in on the back end of your mic
Hi Jason. I put a link to your video in my comment, hope you don't mind. Yeah, I just don't understand it. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed but there was wind noise evident too and yet look at my camera strap, it wasn't moving. I had the wind muff on too pfffff
Great work Gary. I thought the sewer outlet was topclass.
Thank you John. Sorry for the late reply 👍👍
What a place for a church! Nice production values on the vlog, I liked the B&W ones better but there wasn't a bad one among them..
Very kind Bill, Cheers
Beautiful picture and video.

nice one Gary, enjoyed that a lot. some great images, the last one was my favourite.
Cheers John, very kind 👍
No i think i should thank you Gary, ive learnt a lot watching your videos
Great work Gary, I don't think the sewer outlet shot worked, it distracted from the church for me. I liked your favourite as well.
Cheers Clive. I know what you mean about the distraction 👍
Wow what a location, that was worth waiting for Gary, stunning. Did you use radial filter on the Church in the water outlet shots? They were my personal favs but that last one also brilliant such clear photographs. Thank you.
Hi Michael, a radial filter? Not sure what you mean. Either way, I only use ND filters
Gary Gough Sorry Gary I should have said Lightroom radial filter
a ha I felt uneducated :) I don't use LR but I assume you're making reference to vignettes? If so I always create them in PS
Cracking intro and some fab images Gary. Still marvelling at the drone footage at the beginning - still can't work out how you did that? Visited this location back earlier in the year and it was a blue sky day & to be honest I was not very inspired - seeing these images I didn't try hard enough I reckon :)
It's an amazing place. I was taken back by just how unusual it was. Can't wait to return there :)
Hi Gary, loving the vlogs. Do you do any on your workflow in post production? Thanks
Nice shoot Gary
Cheers Andrew
You certainly saved the best for last...
Cheers Bill, very kind. Thanks for the support. Happy New Year
Outlet looks good! It’s not sewage though! Just a culvert from land drains.
I feel educated now cheers. It smelt a bit dodgy :)
What a lovely set of photographs. I do wish you would be a bit more frequent with your postings. Thank you.
I'll try Alex but I work too :)
