    Had a great evening on Llanddwyn Island, a lovely sunset and great conditions to fly the drone but was not expecting what was to happen next.

    Can't believe you got yourself stranded! When you said high water was 3 hours away I thought, blimey you're cutting it fine 😂👍 Thing is, the tide times are for high / low slack water. But the channel is often impassable on spring tides a good few hours either side of the high water time. So the quoted time was probably right. Anyway, great image and drone work, so not all bad! About time for another collab soon mate?

    What fantastic shots, Jason. I always admire your colour palette but these are truly superlative; as you say, the ambient light was very favourable and you have put it to great use.

    Nicely done Jason, some of your best work imo .... the images from 14:00 to 15:04 are just wonderful, only slight crit is the second one could do with a slight anticlock twist to straighten the skyline as it plays with my head a little.
    Being stranded like that reminds me of when as a kid me and my brother were stranded by the tide at The Mumbles and missed the last bus back to Llansamlet ... lol

    Been there done that, February 2020 during Storm Dennis which made for some good photos. I was with my mate and we waded off thigh deep in seawater. We were following another guy who left his family behind! He was smaller than us so we figured if he could make it we could. Madness in retrospect!

  • @JohnKrill
    @JohnKrill 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Classic! Yea you really didn't need the rescue. Haven't we all done similar messup. I once walked 15 miles out a trail in Canonlands, UT. The plan was to go 5 or 6 miles. So I had to walk back in the dark through several small canyons with no idea where the trail was. Wasn't to sure if I was going to make it. To make it worse I didn't tell the Park Service where I was going. So when I finally got to the flats I was very relieved.

    I got stuck there one night last summer, doing astro. luckily the tide was going out, and it was a warm night. Only had to wait about an hour. You can be cut off up to an hour and a half either side of high tide, depending on the moon phase. Be careful!

    I said from the beginning of the vlog, that you were going to get stuck! I howled laughing. So sorry, but it was hilarious. What an adventure! The island is so beautiful it doesn’t look real. Drone footage is amazing, as are the beautiful images, which are some of the best I have seen of the island. You were sitting on my wall having your roll. That was Davies cottage in the programme they made for tv. I love the bays on the other side of the island too. Some cracking shots to be had there. Wonderful place. ( and a bloody good laugh!) Thanks Jason.

    Stunning pics and drone footage, as for the tide, probably didn't add the hour on for summer time. Some local tide tables don't have the times an hour forward from winter time,they just put it in small print saying to add it on.

    You've got to laugh, still, the CG had a ride out so good for them. Could understand if there was a low-pressure system coming in as that would give a higher tide! You could look at the shipping forecast as well as the tide times. Thanks for the trip out Jason, enjoyed that.

    Great shots. So we discovered Canute is not your middle name. Pity the campers called the Coast Guard in, it would have made for an interesting end of the vlog. Never caught out by a tide but, before the days of GPS and mobiles, I once lost my way in the Torridon Mountains in the mist and walked up the wrong glen, by the time I realized it was the wrong glen it was a matter of camping down for the night. Thankful, the next morning, the first cottage I stopped at to clarify my exact location took me in, made me breakfast and gave me dry socks.

    Oh my word J, you are a legend, takes me back to January last year, went to Anglesey to take pictures of a "shipwreck" was so engrossed I lost track of time. Cut a long story short, I was stuck in the middle of the estoury with water all around me. Thought I was a goner, water up to my chin. By the time I got back to the car that also was under water...try explaining that to the insurance company 😪
    Still....could have been a funeral instead of a new car 🚗....
    Your pictures tonight are just awesome, some of the finest I've seen for a while. The colours and composition are stunning & the Drone photography is 👌.
    Was a pleasure bumping in to you the other week at Dinorwig, ill be back tomorrow....I'll get to the top if it kills me...😂

      @@jasonjonesphotography610 No problem, tbh you picked the wrong day as far as tides are concerned, At the moment we are on a spring tide which means the tide had a rise of about 5 meters. In 5 days we will be on neaps and the tide will rise to between 3.5 and 4 meters. Also sometimes the sand bar between the island and the main land is of such a height that the tide doesn't or barely cuts the island off. Saying that I would still be off the island 2 hours before high tide. Anyway Some stunning pictures and video's.
