  • Today I am testing the Palmetto State Armory Gen 3 PA65 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The test will include 3 parts. The first part is the Sighting in and Accuracy test. This is once the gun is sighted in take a 3 shot group test to see how close the 3 shots are together. Part 2 is the torture test of running two boxes of ammo through the firearm to see if there are any malfunctions. Part 3 is the opinion test and sharing my thoughts?

    I purchased this rifle about a year and half ago. Topped it with a Vortex Viper 5-25x50 PST and shot it that way for about 4 months... I am fortunate to have an outdoor range nearby. The over-gassing was an issue right out of the box but that's normal and too be expected. What wasn't normal was the gas block had chronic issues which PSA, to their credit, sent a new one... same thing. So, I installed a Superlative Arms adjustable block and worked excellent. Being interested in reducing muzzle rise I installed an American Precision Fat Bastard tunable muzzle break and a Magpul bipod. While it adds weight to an already heavy rifle it works well. Wanting to tame the recoil impulse and slow the cycling down a bit I installed an extended buffer tube and spring and Magpul PRS Gen 3. Again, adding weight but for the benefit of rifle improvement. Currently, shooting Hornady 147gr ELD's, it rings steel at 1400 yards consistently and even my 14-year-old is hitting 1000 effortlessly. Future plans are to install a flow-through suppressor. Overall, I think it's a lot of value at its price point but I do believe PSA could offer various packages (options) as I am certain there are buyers seeking that.

      Yes I agree PSA could offer these DPMS LR308 rifles setup with different furniture packages and upgraded gasblocks buffer packages and such … but they for a long time barely ever kept the basic models of these guns in stock I have ordered three of them myself haha . And also for the price point they are unbeatable value , you’d have a hard time buying the upper and lower receiver set and lower parts kit for what the finished rifle cost…
      And with LR308 there is no 2 people going to want the exact same finished gun like the PRS stock I despise that stock setup like the magpul bipod is just too flimsy … everyone has there own taste and it’s way better for PSA to offer a Basic rifle at the best price point and allow the end user to upgrade what they see fit. Kinda like the Saber line of rifles PSA is offering I don’t think that is going to be as much of a hit for them as the standard FN CHF uppers that they offer. PSA worry’s me the way they are overextending there product lines to offer 5 or 6 classes of finished AKs now including the 556 Stan mag AKs,KS47 there cmmg mutant option ( excellent gun also I own one haha)
      The Jakl line up , all the AR15 options including the retro and saber line up now, they have a 5.7 Rock , the Glock 19 and 17 clone lineup and I think they are starting to roll out a Glock 43 sized lineup… idk that and they are starting a complete Ammo plant AAC ammo… I just don’t know how they can sustain that kind of growth and keep there QC at acceptable levels.
      I’m a huge fan of PSA but man I don’t know any other manufacturers who is putting as many irons in the fire at one time… they in a decade could be competing with SIG at the rate of growth they are maintaining… it will be interesting to see the Jakl development of it has a gen 2 and possibly a 7.62 Nato version…

      @@Holyspiritrecieved mine all
      Have the adjustable gas block and work fine I adjusted the gas to
      The middle setting and have had no issues 100% reliable in prob over 300 rds through three different rifles.
      Of course I bought the kit when I buy em and the lower is seperate and then I install the lpk myself and once over the upper I haven’t had one (knock on wood) not assembled properly.
      For the money I think I had like $700 max in the bare rifle… it was a amazing value I think everyone should have a few myself can’t beat having real rifles I love 556 but that’s a carry carbine caliber compare to 308 in my opinion.

    Nice presentation. Liked & subscribed.
    That ammo actually works really well, .75moa well, in my Ruger American.
    Haven't tried the AR 6.5CM yet. Won a BCA 18" upper and a case of 120gr Federal OTM rounds.
    I have a PSA Gen3 in 308. Haven't tried to see if the new upper will fit the PSA lower. I've been told it won't.

    The 34mm tube does nothing to enhance light gathering. It uses the same size glass as the 30mm. The tube is larger so that the manufacturer can fit a larger erector inside the scope, allowing for more elevation.
    The 50mm lens will gather more light than a 44mm.

    I still can’t figure out what the difference between the PA10 6.5 Creedmoor and the PA65 Creedmore is… Thoughts? Which is newer? Why the difference in name?

    • @OutdoorJack
      @OutdoorJack  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the way I understand it the PA10 is .308 caliber and the PA65 is 6.5 creedmoor caliber. There is one rifle that I see that is PA10 and says its a 6.5 Creedmoor but I am guessing that its really nothing different. the PA65 Gen 3 is newest. Wish I could help more!

    • @Swampytheroot
      @Swampytheroot 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's my understanding, and I could be wrong, that the PA10 still uses the DPMS AR10 pattern, while the PA65 (because my 308 from PSA is a PA65) is a PSA redesign with several small enhancements for manufacturing simplicity and durability.

    Just an observation but the scope looks a bit too far to the rear. Most of my rifles the ocular bell is almost flush with the end of the receiver/ action.

    • @OutdoorJack

      Thanks for the observation. I was actually limited on how I could mount the scope because it was so long.

    I just ordered this rifle and a Vortex 6x24x50 to throw on it. What mounting hardware are you using with that rifle? I'm wanting something that's already been tested by others.

    • @OutdoorJack
      @OutdoorJack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hardware I used for this one came with my Blackhound scope so I didn’t have to purchase it separately. If recommend any of the Vortex mounts or even Burris Mounts. 👍🏼

    • @OutdoorJack
      @OutdoorJack  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benbettencourt115 So the scope I put on this rifle was a 5-25x56. The Tube was 34mm. So I think if you use at least a medium height rings you should be fine with your objective being 50mm.

    Had a smith and wesson mp ar10 with magpull mags. Those mags were so d am n miserable I got rid of everything. I couldn't firen1nround out of 5 magpull mags. I'll never in my life get q magpull ever again. They even had the guts to blame the rifle itself saying it was internal.issues. I started laughing finaly got them to take back and got my money back. I did have one metal magazine and it was running like a champ. I kind of miss that riffle but I just got disgusted with all of it because of those cheap plastic nasty miserable magazines. Like they were made in turkey or what?

      It’s a 6.5 creedmoor and I don’t think k was referring to the exact bullet I am shooting just in general the barrel can handle heavier bullet weights.
