So is this what happens at UR when Gavin is away in South Africa? Really does not matter, this was a great stand alone presentation. Guy has a very comfortable camera presence and a way of speaking that is methodical and educational. Great job!
Bought a 6.5 in 2021 following shoulder replacement surgery. I needed a lighter recoil option and purchased the 6.5 in a Tikka T3X. Using Remington Core-lokt ammo I found the rifle easily satisfying my need for accuracy and recoil. Hunting in NW PA on the 2nd week of deer season I had the opportunity to verify if the 6.5 was sufficiently lethal. I took a mature 10 point at 90 yds and he dropped in his tracks. I’m very satisfied with the cartridge performance.
Excellent! After shoulder surgery I hunted mostly with my 25-06 for a couple of years. The 6.5 Creedmoor seems similar to me, a little more bullet, a little less velocity. Glad the Creedmoor worked out well for you and congrats on the buck!
I just purchased a Bergara B14 Hunter in 6.5 CM. (I wanted something with less recoil so I decided on the 6.5 CM.). I come from the wood stock era so the polymer stock was something I haven't been fond of. As it turns out, it's awesome; rubberized, easy to grip. I love this gun! Great video, Guy. From the SE corner of WA State. God bless.
I bought a b14 hmr in the cartridge for target shooting in 2019. I also shot 270 but I really was tired of the recoil so Im going to try the bergara this season. I'm nervous to try it but I am so excited to be able to use my surpressor, not have to wear muffs, and not have to deal with recoil first thing in the AM... I think we can all relate!! Climbing down the stand like I'm in a war movie,, ear ringing, shaking a little bit
The timing of this video couldn’t be any better. About a year ago I started really following UR videos and got into reloading myself thanks to you. By chance I drew a leftover WY cow/calf tag and decided to work up a 6.5cm load and hunt for the first time with a load I worked up. Happy to report that two nights ago I got a shot on a nice cow elk and it absolutely drilled her at 307 yards. I was honestly surprised how well that round did. Shot placement was spot on and just wrecked the vitals. Work up is 143 gr eld-x, 43.5 gr 6.5 staball which got me 2725 fps out of a bergara B14 ridge. It was the perfect amount of energy. My buddy shot one too with his 300 win mag, and his shot was a little bit forward and just obliterated both front shoulders and turned a lot of meat into mush. I honestly couldn’t be more pleased the way that 6.5 performed. My only complaint isn’t the round itself, it’s the combo of changing it over to a chassi system and using the AICS mags. If the round isn’t all the way seated back into the mag the tip of the long 6.5 bullet catches under the feed ramp on the bergara. I’ve also had issues with the extraction of spent brass, something in the action is causing a pretty deep scratch on the fired cases. So I still have work to do to get things dialed in but man, I can’t say enough how the 6.5 performed for me. Thanks again to UR, this has been a fun adventure into reloading.
I did an early October hunt with a 6.5 CM. Handloaded Varget and Fiocchi LRP in Aguila brass to push a 129gr Hornady SST to an estimated 2700 fps (no chrono) from my my CVA Cascade using a Vortex Diamondback Tactical scope. At 296 yd, the pronghorn fell on top of the deep hoof prints he made when impacted. I was satisfied.
The eldx is an absolute garbage big game bullet . As a guide I’ve seen more animals shot with them than most and they are not a reliable bullet for anything bigger than deer .
I also like Guy's calm manner and, as a German, I can easily understand what he is saying. By the way, I use the 120 grain CX bullets from Hornady in combination with the N555 and the results on the shooting range as well as on the hunt are great!
That's awesome, I grew up hunting Okanagan with my dad. Sadly I haven't been back since spreading his ashes there and now that I live in Idaho I probably won't be going there anytime soon. Beautiful country there from the forest to the open hills lots of deer there.
Thanks! I found myself thinking of it as a 308 with higher BC bullets and a little less recoil. Similar size, similar velocity. Both can be very accurate.
Along the same lines as the TTSX, I’ve been using the 127 LRX and it has worked great. I just started hunting with it last year and have shot pronghorn and deer. Been trying to kill an elk this year but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
I've been shooting my 6.5 CM with a 22" barrel for about 10 years. I've had really good results with the 130 Berger and Rl17. My recent check over a 10 shot string showed an average velocity of 2840 with an SD of 10. Most of my shooting is done between 30 and 70 degrees and haven't really had any issues due to temps. My velocity stays pretty stable and my groups are typically between 1/2 - 3/4 moa. Unless I've had too much coffee..😂 Great video, hope your hunts are productive and memorable.
Thanks gents, for a wonderful video! Wishing you all the best with the 6.5 CM. I'm sure it will work for all your needs in the field within reason. Take care.
Great video! Finally took my 6.5CM hunting this year too, shooting a 135gr handload I worked up for Idaho whitetails. Such an easy cartridge to load for and shoot I don’t know why I waited so long to get it in the field.
Hey Guy, for my Brother's first rifle we got him a similar set up. He bought a Christiansen Arms Mesa and topped it with a Leupold 3-12 with the CDS dial. Great shooting rifle. We tried Sierra's Gameking 140 and they didn't group as well as the Hornady 143 ELD-X so we selected the Hornady and loaded it with H4350. He shoots groups less than an inch almost every time it goes to the range. So far he has shot a Pronghorn (jumped up less than 50 yards in front of us) and it was very effective. Our elk hunts the last few years have turned into walkabouts so nothing bigger but no hesitation to use it on bigger stuff. It shoots quite a bit milder than the 30-06 and the 270win. With a rangefinder the advantage of flat shooting cartridges is becoming limited
I hunt blacktail and hogs with the 6.5 Creedmoor. 127 Barnes lrx. Last buck was 190 lbs live weight 22" 3x3. One shot and done. Maybe 150 yards. Pig was 150 lbs and 80 yards. Again, one shot and done.
Great video. I picked up a 6.5 CM 2 years ago for whitetail deer in PA. Its doing a fine job so far. I’ll use it for deer and antelope. If I go for elk or larger I have other rifles for those hunts.
Pretty much the way I feel. I have a 30-06 for elk, but this 6.5 should do just peachy for deer and antelope. Heck, it would probably do fine on elk too. But then what would my 30-06 do to earn a living? :)
Great video, Guy. We need to see more of you on here. On a different note, the comments of the Fudds whose identity is tied to their legacy cartridges were expected and they didn’t disappoint.
I've been using 130grn TGK in my 24" Tikka 6.5cm for a couple years. 43grn RL16 is .6 moa at 2850fps with SD of 7. It's has hammered two coues bucks over 500 yards. One shot=Bang-flop! 1.5-2" exit holes. Love these bullets.
Outstanding! I appreciate the info - and was thinking that the 130's might have been better for my purposes than the 140's I bought... I shall try the lighter ones as well.
Yes, I do hunt with the 6.5 Creedmoor, I use the 129IL Hornady behind that I use a stiff load of RELOADER 17 it gives me a muzzle velocity of 2950 Ave and use it to hunt deer and the load combo works great with the 22inch barrel and the deer 99% of them get switched off on the spot, I will not use it for bigger animals such as elk or moose for witch I use the 325WSM or the 300 win, I feel elk country is also grizzly country for which I want more snort in the rifle, to date they all work great, aim small good hunting. GOD BLESS.
For a regular hunter, 350meters and under, It shoots near as dammit exactly like the .308, just less recoil. So I use a 130gr in my 6.5 and a 150gr in my .308win. Same scopes and mounts with the same magnification, switching between the two is seemless.
The 6.5 creed seems to be a nice round. Europe has hunted with the 6.5 X 55 for a hundred years so I know that bullet must be very capable. This presentation gives me a great place to start when I start to reload for it. Thanks Guy.
@@Paul-q3m7k Just got my first CM. Everyone says it's so light recoiling. I don't think it is. Pretty stout for that little cartridge. And I shoot my 300Rum alot so I'm no stranger to getting whopped lol
Just ordered a Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5. Mostly for steel at 1,000 yrds. But will load 85-95 varmint bullets for prairie dogs. Have 2 valkyrie's they are SUPER for pdogs but dont push steel at 1k very hard. I can hit steel regularly with valk but wanted more push & report! Love reloader 17 for valkyrie, seems its also good for 6.5
I just ordered a CVA Cascade XT in 6.5 Creedmoor. I was hesitant at first, but everything I have researched read/watched convinced me to get it. I have an antelope hunt coming up and I want to use it for that. This video was great and pushed me into the decision. You can tell this man has done a lot of instruction, but doesn't bring the "SWATTIE HOTTIE" attitude. That's a good thing.
I am stepping into the 6.5CM too. Ordered all the components to build my own custom rifle. I plan to use a longer barrel for more velocity without having to load the ammo hot. Longer case life hopefully.
I was late to the 6.5Cm party also always being a 270 fan. I was shamed into it by my son and his wife one year, I took a doe and a 8 point and both were bang-flop. My Savage 270 also worked very well and shot to 3/4moa but after a torn rotator cuff I needed something lighter. I was so impressed with it a used bull barrel Savage 12FV found it's way to me and I started load development. Long story short that rifle with my blueprinted 140gr handloads was posting 1/3moa, never saw that with any factory 308. Now if I'm in the fields my 270 is with me but If I'm out on a friends farm that 12FV with a 6x24x50 Vortex is glassing along the hedgerows and taking deer at ranges I would have thought unethical in years past, ranges that I hunt woodchucks at with my 22/250 and DRT performance is the norm with high shoulder shots. I just bought a Howa 1500 Hera H7 in 6.5Cm and put a Riton 3 Conquer 6-24×50 on it. Out of the box after break in and zeroing with my 130gr, Win748 plinkers it matched my Savage. I just picked up some 90gr TN'T's for chucks, I'll do more load development over the winter and hope to tighten my groups a little more and hit the fields. Yup, I'm a convert. By the way, all my loading is off a RCBS Rock Chucker ll I bought in 1976. Unknown thousands of rounds thru it and still tight as when I bought it after 30 years of National Match competition and loading for a shooting family.
I live in plain flat Texas. the hogs get jumpy after you have shot a few of them. so sometimes they stay a long ways out! my 6.5cm bolt gun is my ticket out to some of those ranges. it helps with accuracy practice, and helps because the targets are smaller and smaller(after we tear up the big ones that do all the damage).
I just ordered a howa 6.5 cm heavy barrel. Should be here tomorrow. I’ll have to look into that powder and those bullets for reloading. Rifle season opens next week here in Michigan. so I’ll probably buy afew boxes of factory ammo to get me thru this year then work on reloading over the winter.
I dont have one, but I do commonly see pictures at the sportsmans brag board where peoples kids are taking bears, moose, and caribou with it. Seems to be popular here in AK.
After my buddy (dude was in 82nd airborne - aka badass!) shot my Ruger Precision Rifle gen2 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, he had to have it! So he got a Tikka chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (I can't recall what model, possibly the T3x?) and loved it. He went hunting and got a buck at about 100 yards with off the shelf hunting ammo, one shot. For target shooting I used to shoot Hornady ELD's and hand loads that a veteran / retired LEO buddy of mine loaded for me. Cannot recall the specs, but we got it dialed in somewhere around 139-149 grains, I think? I could be way off. Anyway at 600 yards I had good days and bad, but a good day would be fist sized groups, or about 5MOA? I miss that rifle and all my past firearms. Had to sell when finances got tight and I needed to provide. Aim true and take care.
I've found that I get better results from 143gr or heavier bullets rather than the lighter bullets in my 6.5creedmoor. I have about 1800ish on my 6.5 creedmoor now.
Guy I am a RCBS fan too. Have a Rock Chucker Supreme. I am running a Bergara too, but in 300 PRC. Hope you get a buck with your Bergara 6.5 Creedmoor!!!!
I’ve been enjoying hunting with my tikka t3x super light in 6.5cm since 2018 now. I’ve taken 6 deer and 4 black bear now ranging from 50-320 yds. And have had great results. 9 out of the ten animals were complete pass throughs. I’m using hand loaded eld-x’s running about 2700 fps. 1/2 moa accuracy or better with those. Everything has dropped on the spot or not made it past 30 yds. I have other rifles I use for elk hunting tho
I’ve heard quite a bit of negativity on it, but I’ve never had an issue. I even punched through both shoulder bones on a big mule deer at 200yds once and still got a pass through. I also killed a deer at close range and an elk with the 162gr eldx in my 28 nosler and both dropped on the spot. Did not get a pass through on the elk at 200 yds but I’m not surprised as it was a hard quartering to me shot.
Feel free to ditch the muzzle brake for hunting, especially since you are used to hunting with your 30-06 without a brake. If you want a muzzle device, go with a can. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
Fantastic video. Both of you guys are nailing it. I have to throw out my 2 cents on RCBS. They have been selling an antiquated set of dies for about 30 years now. The Hornady die set it superior all the way around. Why? Because RCBS is living off their name from days long ago. I'm salty because I have about 10 sets of RCBS before I had a clue.
Guy I felt like you were talking to me personally and I liked the way you explained every thing. For over 40 years all I hunted with was my 30-06, abought 10 years ago I bought a 6.5 creedmoor and have not used the 06 since. I hunt whitetails in Pa always harvest at least one every year. My shoots range from 50 to 175 yards and all have been one shot kills. Yes I love my creed . The two big advantages are accuracy and the recoil. I know the 06 is not what you would call a heavy hitter in the recoil department , but compared to the creed it is and at my age that is a big plus for me. Thanks for making this video on the creed and I do hope you get to harvest some game with it. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Great video. I purchased a Tikka T3x with a 24 inch barrel with a break. It was a Cabela's special with a camo stock and cerakote bronze coating. I put a Vortex light weight hunter 3 x 15 scope on it. Tikka's are known for being long throated and it took some effort to find the distance to the lands. I use a Berger VLD Hunter 140 grain bullet. I did a number of test loads and the one I like best is Superformance 48 grains (it is hotter than recommended that's why I load them long). I hand load and use an RCBS Rock Chucker press. I make the loads longer than standard and it gives me the room I need for the powder and it still fits my magazine and works well. I chronograph my bullets and they are going just over 3200 fps so it 's almost like shooting a 6.5 PRC. It is very accurate .25 MOA at 100 yards. I shot a bull elk this year at 230 yards with one shot. The elk just stood there for a few seconds and then started to walk away. He took two or three steps and fell over. Both the entrance hole and the exit hole were pretty small. When we opened him up there was massive damage to the heart and lungs. I hit it right where I aimed , right behind the front leg and low. It was a broad side shot slightly up hill. I don't think I will try shooting an elk out past 3 or 4 hundred yards. My grandson shot his first bull about ten minutes before I shot mine. It was a great hunt. My 6.5 Creedmoor is a pleasure to shoot and I look forward to using it for many hunts to come. Thanks again for the video.
Another great video, interesting I just bought a Tikka T3x in 6.5 creedmoor yesterday, these days I just hunt deer and this will be used next season. Last year I used a Sierra Game King tipped bullet out of my 30-06, so I harvested 1 deer so don’t have a database for this bullet, have used a lot of the old game king bullets.
I got a Ruger American Predator 6.5.Cm 4 years ago and taken 4 deer with 4 shots using Federal 140 grain ptd sp. Animals taken at 75 to 200 yards and DRT. I haven't generated enough empty brass to try reloading. On targets the bullet holes are nearly touching at 100 yards.
So much in common, I also use RCBS equipment, very popular in Western Canada. I also carry a tripod while hunting as conditions here prohibit prone style positioning. I actually repurposed a used camera tripod, readily available nowadays since cellular phones have made personal cameras all but obsolete.
Ya, no flies on the good ol' 270 Win, that is a classic and popular deer cartridge for a reason. 130 gr bullets at 3100 fps and what I feel is pretty mild recoil. I used to think of the 270 as a deer cartridge and was impressed with the number of elk & bear hunters who have been enjoying great success with it for a long time. I don't have one, but perhaps I ought to get one and do a story... Sort of have it surrounded with the 25-06 & 30-06 though...
I’ve enjoyed my CM. It’s a nice cartridge for deer sized game. Personally I wouldn’t use it on Elk, but that’s because I like to dust off my 06/300wm every once in a while. 😊
Ive got 5 different 6.5 creedmoors. From a 14" single shot pistol to 24" carbon fiber barreled chassis precision rifle. Ive taken a dozen whitetail with 3 of them and they work fine. Probably no better or worse than the dozen other cartridges on either side of it in similar capacity and bullet diameter. The creedmoor shines in the availability in quality components, consistancy in chambers designed for bullets on the heavy side, and barrel life. My match rounds shoot great in the shorter barreled hunting rifles and my hunting round shoot great in my match rifle. My favorite hunting rifle is a $300 compact tc compass with 16" barrel. Suppressed its shorter than a 24" rifle, is very accurate, and very handy.
Got a tikka t3x 6.5 creedmoor (deerhunter) it's like Lite model but with soft touch accessories and fluted barrel and M14 treads. I am shooting moose and down from that size using 7.8g sako blade handloads, vihtavuori n540, fiocchi Lr primers, that gives speed of 872m/s at the muzzle and a 15mm 3 shot groups @80M. normal shooting distance for moose is about 30-100M. My t3x tac a1 also likes same load so thats nice too.
Ive seen a lot of gel tests on that Sierra TGK... none of them resulted in convincing me it's one to buy. However I'm sure they kill deer. Would love to see you video a gel test on the 140 gr Sierra TGK....I'll be watching for it.
I wouldn't use 6.5CM for anything bigger than mule deer, but for mulies and anything smaller I think it's fine. I typically use .308 Win but I do have a 6.5CM that I have taken out (although I haven't scored with it). I want to replace my 22" barrel with a 26" for better velocities. In my thinking, a 26" barrel is a sweet spot for the majority of medium and large caliber cartridges. Everyone these days is flocking to the little shorty short barrels and I say do what you want, but I'll take those long barrels any day... I like shooting distance and that makes velocity important. It also extends your hunting range if you're not afraid to hump around a little extra weight.
as a texan, the gorgeous landscape shots, of public land, made me want to cry. id be a porter and a guide for free just to tag along, that's incredible.
Washington is getting more anti-gun and anti-hunting, but ya.. One reason we moved here 30 years ago is because this large county is 85% public land! Free to hike, hunt, camp on most of it. The fishing is better than the hunting.
I want to hear every single thing this man has to say. Even if it’s about toilet paper… but I couldn’t really hear this whole video till the last few seconds and I think I blew my speakers. Hopefully you do a follow up in a year when he perhaps has taken some game with this round too!
I have a 120gr Hornady CX load that I made for my son's Moose hunt. It runs about 2950fps. I have used that same load for whitetail and it has worked well out to 300 yards so far. Breaks bones and always passes through.
Am glad to know that the CX performed well on deer for you! I've shot CX bullets into the gel blocks to test expansion & penetration, but haven't yet taken game with them.
I’ve owned and reloaded for the 6.5 CM, 6.5x55, and 260 rem. Thousands of rounds and around 27 deer with the these three cartridges. You’re absolutely correct though, if you own one already no sense in buying one of the other two in my opinion. If a person only shoots factory loads then the creedmoor definitely has an advantage. This is because there are few 260 factory loads and the Swede factory loads in America are watered down. All three wonderful whitetail rounds.
I was reluctant to get on the 6.5CM band wagon also. In 2021 I won a pistol at a gun bash and had no use for another carry pistol in a caliber that I didnt have. I traded it up for store credit and chose a Bergara B14 Ridge Wilderness in 6.5 CM. Installed a 4x16x44 Riton scope. I have been buying up factory loads in various weights. It shoots MOA @100 with a number of different ones.. Havent had a chance to take it out in the field yet. I cant bring myself to leave my walnut stocked Rugers, Winchesters, and Remingtons at home, Haha. I am thinking a well constructed monometal or bonded 120 - 130 gr at 2900 -2800 fps might produce a more dramatic result on whitetail sized game at normal hunting distances. What thinks you?
Took me awhile to fall for the CM hype. Its definitely is not the end all be all cartridge but man is it fun to shoot! My preferred combo is with the 127gr Barnes LRX. Both handloads and the factory ammo shoot consistent 1/2 MOA out of my Ruger magpul hunter american 20". Man does that Barnes just hammer through everything. Its my new "Old Faithful".....although now im playing around with the 6.5PRC.
I just started with the creedmoor last year and settled on the 127 LRX as well. Factory ammo is well under MOA out of a compact Ruger American with a 20” barrel. The rifle is just OK, but it shoots so dang good I can’t resist it.
Little late to the party. Just got my 6th west side blacktail with the 6.5 creed, I think one took two steps, the rest just fell over. Also dropped a cougar at 40 yards, came in on a run to coyote pup distress mouth call
I amost exclusively use Vhitavouri powders and have for probably 30 years. I had some Hornady superformance come along for the 6.5cm with 143gn eldx, and it was good, but the Vhit 555 has proved much better. And yes Vhitavouri powder is lot to lot consistent.
Nice review Guy but I still don’t see a 6.5 Creedmoor in my future as I like to see at least 3000 FPS and above average BC bullet to have a flatter trajectory. Like you Guy for Deer and Antelope your Remington 700 BDL 6mm Rem is a 400 yard gun. Speaking of that I need to get mine out on another trip. TC
Buenos días, yo cazo en España con el 6.5 creedmoor y puntas sierra TGK en 130g a ciervo y jabalí, son espectaculares, la punta es demoledora y muy muy precisa
Havent taken it out, planned for deer hunting with my 18" 6.5cm running 123gr around 2800fps. But with my elbow surgery coming up, I cant steady a rifle in the field till that gets fixed.
I love my Forbes 25-06...but past 300 yards the 6.5 Creedmoor hits harder due to the much better bc. With laser range finders making longer range hits no longer depends on blazing bullet speed.
Want to learn to reload for my 6.5 Creedmoor, likely buy items as funds become available, the RCBS Supreme die set is affordable enough at 71 bucks. Thanks for the info.
Guy has been perfect addition to your channel... a wonderful a resource of knowledge and on-screen personality. He is a gem!
Thanks!
I agree
Agreed!
And a former SWAT sniper??? Holy f.
Depth of character. Earned.
Thanks!
I love the authentic nature of everything Guy talks about......Honest and candid.
Thank you!
Yup,very believable.. I trust his many years of experience
Guy's a natural in front of the camera now. How far he's come! I love episodes he hosts!
thanks
So is this what happens at UR when Gavin is away in South Africa? Really does not matter, this was a great stand alone presentation. Guy has a very comfortable camera presence and a way of speaking that is methodical and educational.
Great job!
The 130 tipped gameking is my preferred 6.5 Creedmoor projectile. It’s perfect for Missouri whitetails.
Ky ones gonna be sad to meet one runnin 3250fps from my 6.5prc waypoint….got the 95gr v max screamin at 3625fps also that won’t do me any favors
Took a bull this season w/a 6.5 Creedmoor at a distance I’d never thought I’d shoot. 22” barrel & 140g Nosler Accubond. I’m a believe.
@@danfromga9696 What's the fun in that! Hope the Bergara/Suppressor works out well for you.
Channel gets better every day!! You guys are killing it, thank you!
Thank you!
Congrats on that cow elk, nice shot!
Last 4 elk with the 6.5 CM. Previous 3 using the 143 gr. ELD-X. The 4th using the 143 gr. Norma BondStrike. All loaded with H4350.
Thank you. That's great info on the Hornady CX bullets. They're tough!
That's awesome, I grew up hunting Okanagan with my dad. Sadly I haven't been back since spreading his ashes there and now that I live in Idaho I probably won't be going there anytime soon. Beautiful country there from the forest to the open hills lots of deer there.
First off, Thank You for your service. I have been on the fence about using a 6.5 creed for hunting, but now I will go for it.. Great info..
Thanks! I found myself thinking of it as a 308 with higher BC bullets and a little less recoil. Similar size, similar velocity. Both can be very accurate.
I like the 140 grain gold dots and 120 grain ttsx in Creedmoor. Both are solid performers.
Along the same lines as the TTSX, I’ve been using the 127 LRX and it has worked great. I just started hunting with it last year and have shot pronghorn and deer. Been trying to kill an elk this year but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
120gr GD are awesome as well
@@antdawgg9923 they have shot really well in my Grendels
I've been shooting my 6.5 CM with a 22" barrel for about 10 years. I've had really good results with the 130 Berger and Rl17. My recent check over a 10 shot string showed an average velocity of 2840 with an SD of 10. Most of my shooting is done between 30 and 70 degrees and haven't really had any issues due to temps. My velocity stays pretty stable and my groups are typically between 1/2 - 3/4 moa. Unless I've had too much coffee..😂
Great video, hope your hunts are productive and memorable.
I had good results with RE17 also. But the loads are not temp stable.
Hornady 143 ELD-X, it's my go-to when I'm out there harvesting some fresh meat.
Love watching Ultimate Reloader
Thanks!
After I took my first deer here in SC with a 6.5, I'm definitely a fan especially of the 125 grainers
Nicely done! Those Barnes bullets are impressive!
This "Guy" is good, keep him around
Great video, Guy. We need to see more of you on here.
On a different note, the comments of the Fudds whose identity is tied to their legacy cartridges were expected and they didn’t disappoint.
You'll be a Fudd too someday... If you live long enough. Betcha came wait...! .. 😉
I bought the same press after watching the review. I went with a 6.5 Grendel, which is super efficient. I use the Accubond LR though.
Right on Guy. Good for you.
I'd like to see a 7 Creedmoor. Dave Manson has the reamer.
The f class guys are shooting a 6.5prc case necked to 7mm.
The 6.5 creed seems to be a nice round. Europe has hunted with the 6.5 X 55 for a hundred years so I know that bullet must be very capable. This presentation gives me a great place to start when I start to reload for it. Thanks Guy.
Welcome to the family. I have been hunting with the creedmoor since the early 2000's. It's called the 6.5x55.
Good old Swede
Or 6.5x57
Lol lots of people don't realize the 6.5 is nothing new. Nor do they know what Creedmore is
Oh here we go . You 6.5 sweed guys are the new 6.5 cm guys when it comes to being annoying 😂
@@Paul-q3m7k Just got my first CM. Everyone says it's so light recoiling. I don't think it is. Pretty stout for that little cartridge. And I shoot my 300Rum alot so I'm no stranger to getting whopped lol
I like this guy..good job Gavin keep him simple but awsome
Hello guy glad your using it!
Good stuff. Interesting press. Look forward to hunting vids & info. Thank you.
Love reloader 17 for valkyrie, seems its also good for 6.5
I used staball 6.5. 44.0 gr behind a 140 game changer and the gold dot shoot very well put of my t3x tikkas. And seems to work well.
Guy, you are such a great addition to this channel, I’m so glad you have joined Gavin’s channel.
Guy, Great job as always.
I’ve harvested 5 mule deer bucks never had to tack a single one. All shots were between 100 yards -250yrds. I uses the 143 Hornady.
Good to know that the ELD-X has done so well for you. I like that bullet as well.
You can’t beat the eldx round
I love videos with Guy, very knowledgeable!
Thanks!
We really like those TGKs too! And the rings. 😊
I like those rings too! Must be good folks making them...
That’s the rifle I’m talking about..Gets the job done without the unnecessary recoil.. And reasonably priced…
Nice job, Guy!
Thanks!
I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
always fun to try a new rifle/cartridge. I still find the 6.5 creedmoor a bit of a head scratcher though.
I love the 90 grain tipped game kings for my 6mm creedmoor. Close to 3,300 fps out of a 26” barrel. Great for South Texas whitetail.
I'll bet they are!
Enjoyed this. Thank you
Been using a rcbs summit press for years now and it has been great no problems at all.
Good to know. Thanks!
Lots of people hunt elk with 147 eldm. Friends kid took his first elk aith 150 accubond. 140 grain gold dots are what id use if i had 6.5 creed
So much in common, I also use RCBS equipment, very popular in Western Canada. I also carry a tripod while hunting as conditions here prohibit prone style positioning. I actually repurposed a used camera tripod, readily available nowadays since cellular phones have made personal cameras all but obsolete.
Ballistically, the 6.5 is a 270. Both are really good cartridges.
6.5 Creedmore 143 ELD-X on top of 40.0gr of IMR 4064.... Have not taken any game with it yet but hopping to do so sooooooooon
as a texan, the gorgeous landscape shots, of public land, made me want to cry. id be a porter and a guide for free just to tag along, that's incredible.
Washington is getting more anti-gun and anti-hunting, but ya.. One reason we moved here 30 years ago is because this large county is 85% public land! Free to hike, hunt, camp on most of it. The fishing is better than the hunting.
The 7 mm 08 needs a revival
I agree. It's a fine cartridge!
I want to hear every single thing this man has to say. Even if it’s about toilet paper… but I couldn’t really hear this whole video till the last few seconds and I think I blew my speakers. Hopefully you do a follow up in a year when he perhaps has taken some game with this round too!
I’m looking forward to the toilet paper review from him as well.
Great video! 6.5 creed is not my preferred flavor, but it was a great breakdown of the system
Mumble conversation. Love it
Great info! Thank you!
Came here to see the hunting... but it was a neat rundown on the rifle setup.
I’ve it. Just started doing a load with h5350 41.5 grains and using the sierra game changer 140😂😂😂😂. Thanks
I have taken a big Utah Mule Deer. Barnes 6.5 Creedmoor 120 gr TTSX. 411 yds.
I was going to look into this cartridge, then I realised just how good my 6.5x55 was and realised it was going to be a pointless change.
6.5cm is perfectly boring at 300y. It's what attracted me to it, and how easy it is to just point, shoot, and hit
Taken Kudu and Wildebeest with the Needmore. Heck, I’ve taken the same with .243🤷🏻♂️
Congrats! Excellent.
Doing this, brings you lots of confidence.
I think that's quite likely. Those all-copper bullets and bonded bullets tend to stay together very well even at high impact velocity.
Hiya Guy! I never thought I’d hear it from you either! Nice work all the way around my friends. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Hey! You know I'm not selling my nice old wood-stocked rifles in 30-06 & 25-06.... :)
My Spanish is poor, but I understand. I'm glad that you've had success with the 130 grain Sierra TGK. I shall try lighter bullets like that!
Havent taken it out, planned for deer hunting with my 18" 6.5cm running 123gr around 2800fps. But with my elbow surgery coming up, I cant steady a rifle in the field till that gets fixed.
Heal up soon!
Hey guys, so with the creedmore doing so well why isn't the parent case 30TC getting as much attention? Why no comeback from the 30TC?
Yeah. Bring that to Kodiak island.
