      @geoffreyhallam6228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's true but just about every review say how much better the handling is in the Curpa especially the Leon cupra. Better front end turn in and balance etc. On a wet road a golf R would show it a clean pair of heels but on a dry road🤔? The Leon would be quicker. Add to that the £5000 price difference and its a no brainer unless your a badge snob. I don't know why VW and AUDI don't use Seat chassis engineers to set their cars up.

    • @lastnamefirstname520
      @lastnamefirstname520 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geoffreyhallam6228 A golf R cannot show jack shit to this estate, it has a front LSD (VAQ), the golf R does not, the Leon estate ABT is 350hp the golf R is 300...... Even on a wet road this runs laps around a golf R estate

    • @ricks4490
      @ricks4490 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Geoffrey Hallam I think you’ve got confused with the earlier Cupra R hatchback that was FWD. The Leon in this review uses same AWD system as a Golf R, plus it’s more powerful and the suspension and camber are tweaked for even better handling.
      Bye bye (Stock) Golf R

    • @geoffreyhallam6228
      @geoffreyhallam6228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick Shallcross I'm not confused I know the difference between the two products the hatch is indeed a different drive train. It's just a fact that, amongst people who know, the Leon, in terms of its chassis set up, is just a better all round package. Yes the golf might be plusher inside but it still begs the question "why would you spen the extra £5000 on the Golf"? It's even a fact that Leon residuals are better than the Golf as well! Game set and match for me. Only a. Badge snob would choose the Golf🤔

    • @ricks4490
      @ricks4490 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geoffrey Hallam Please explain than why you said on a wet road the Golf R would be faster ? Very confusing.
      Also I agree completely on the value for money argument. I’ve been the very happy owner of an R ST ABT since June and it’s phenomenal. In fact just yesterday I recorded 0-60mph in 4.18secs and standing 1/4mile in 12.40secs.... in the wet, valid verified results on Dragy.

    I own a Cupra Leaon R St and I wouldn't change that for anything else at the moment. Patiently waiting for the M3 touring because I have a family and kids, I just thrown in the seats for the kids when need to and toss them out when I want to have some time of my own driving the car hard. It is spacious, fast and good looking car, compared to Golf R wagon. Got a few mods pushing the horses to slightly above 400 and flies off the line like a rocket beating anything in its class and sometimes above it. However, some parts of the interior could have been a bit more sturdy and more expensive feeling but then again, it is a Seat and not an Audi. Until my ultimate dream car, the M3 Toruing has been released, I wouldn't want to drive anything else at the moment.

    Even my Leon ST SE is good fun on a country road so I can imagine the cupra is a hoot. I think ultimately you'll have more fun on these types of roads sat a bit lower. Ateca is impressive for an SUV. High driving position better in town. There's a few interesting alternatives. Golf R is one, focus ST estate another. Be interesting to have a comparison of fast estates. I think having adaptive dampers should make the leon cupra comfier than the FR ST I had previously which I found too firm (sports suspension and torsion beam rear not a good combination, the SE rides better and feels more settled on bumpy roads, no kick back in the bends whatsoever so can carry more speed).

    I drive a 2016 Leon Cupra 290, almost 4 years owning it now. Have to say it's one of those cars you don't want to get out of, it just does everything so well and is so reliable, I can't really imagine having anything better in this price range. PS it's got 2 things the one in this video is missing: front wheel drive and a proper manual.

    • @GGO89
      @GGO89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Biel Mèlich Artés 1st and 2nd gear are pretty much useless for fwd except on dry, warm roads with good rubber, such as Michelin PS4S or Cup2. But once you get past 100kmh, this car is really impressive + If you like driving on twisty roads and you appreciate driver involvement, the front wheel variants are for you. On the other hand, if you like launching from the stoplights and don't mind slower 100-200kmh times, go for 4wd.
