      IMPORTANT: The ENTIRE temple complex was dismantled and rebuilt on a higher hill to make way for the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, which isn't even mentioned in this video.
      Very strange considering the whole fascination surrounding the whole "sun god" segment. It feels like NatGeo are revising history.

    Abu Simbel is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Near South Sudan. The Nasser lake is also so beautiful. Would love to visit that place one day again.

      @@moanjelo9453 Historically, the Egyptian civilization was formed before the Arabic language was a thing. Meaning that Egyptians are the people of this civilization and those ascended from that bloodline . However, Arabs are the people of the language "Arabic" and they live in North Africa and in the Middle East in general.
      After all that elaboration, Egyptian is an ethnicity and Arab is a description of what is your mother language .

It was Europeans who decoded the ancient Egyptian language and taught you about the significance of their civilization, and more to that point, here you are learning about it from documentary made by an American organisation. As for Egyptian artefacts presrved in western museums, I would rather use the word saved instead of "stolen", because your people used to think of them as nothing more than the rubbles of cursed infidels and a lot of them still do till this day.

    I didn't know there is all the spaces and artwork behind the giant statues of Ramses. I remember as a child when they had to relocate it all on higher ground because of the Aswan dam. There was a major article in national geographic about it. So they also then carved into the mountain to include all the huge rooms and relocate those too, wow!!! Is that right?

    I liked it how new age Ms Ramses explained everything & dressed-up in an ostentatious manner; wearing a fancy dress, enhanced with decorative accessories. Reminds me that movie - Death on the Nile... & movies of old days. Those Hittites, with the help of Syrians, Berber & others, destroyed the Egyptian culture... Later came those from Southern Europe & changed everything... that's what I read .... from books...

    This would have been more interesting showing how the temple was cut out of the rock and moved further away from the water during the building of the Aswan Dam.This was accomplished by the the World Heritage Foundation in the 60's and 70's. That women's voice is like fingernails on a chalk board!

    Egypt's biggest down fall was Letting Hittites and Syrians live on their lands the eventually falling victim to the people they showed mercy too.
