    Hieroglyph: Man standing on a snake with a hawk mask looking at a bird sitting on a beetle.
    Egyptologist: This is an interesting inscription which speaks of an event in which the pharaoh’s chief consort drew water from a well and mixed it with blood and honey as an offering to Ra, then the underworld opened and produced three blind maidens of darkness who tormented the pharaoh for his lack of wisdom and unfortunate choice of a spoiled and arrogant prince to act as heir apparent to rule over the lower kingdom with frightening domination of the populace.

      @@3Rayfire “without preconceptions”??? I don’t think that is possible. It appears that all humans have preconceived ideas. Maybe 1 in a million might ask themselves “What do I believe?”, “Why do I believe this?”, “What is being taught?”, “Am I evaluating this objectively?”, “What are my predispositions?”. I’ve read stuff by paleontologists, archaeologists, biologists, politicians, religious scholars. You name it. They all have preconceived ideas. I think it’s ingrained into human nature.

      Non-invasive technology to record carvings and inscriptions continues to advance. What she's doing now is quite crude optically but she's making the most of it at the computer end of things. So it'll all have to be repeated later if the money can be found.
      Unfortunately the structure will not remain intact. Paint has survived 3000 years and more in sealed underground tombs, not so much in buildings. These temples were buried under the sand for thousands of years before they were excavated in the 19th century. Now they are exposed to wind-blown sand, day-time heat and night-time cold.
      The other hazard is religion. When beliefs change, the old stories are suppressed and monuments are defaced. This happened after Akhnaten, and again when the Egyptians were converted to Christianity. The Iconoclasts and Protestants did that in Europe, and the Taliban and ISIS are no lovers of ancient history.

    This was a frequent occurrence in later dynasties. They were not just re-carving but also taking down old temples, stones and statues to use for building elsewhere - cheaper that quarrying anew. In addition, some pharaohs robbed the graves of earlier kings in order to furnish their own tombs. Masses of important and ancient buildings were lost this way.

      Its called the Rasmussen government, after Ahkenatun heresy the Rasmussen government was formed, because to ensure the Heresy would not return and to ensure no pharaohs have power to override the priesthood of Karnak of Amon. The Rasmussen government stayed in control till Ramese XI however if you check and read other matters at this time you will notice that people of egypt were very upset with the state of the economy, food supplys and trade, this is why Ramesse II underwent to assassination attempts near the last 15yrs of his kingship. There are many scripts and monumental building and statues of Ramesse II and... Ramesse II is the only pharaoh to erect 1000s of status in his image alone and the only pharaoh to have the name Ramesse II all over upper and lower egypt, simply because they were all Rasmussen government commissioned items. But the current Egyptian foreign invaders occupation of egypt and its Muslim rulers today dont want you to know this as it goes against thier fake doctrine of Egyptian history, they wont admit when the Muslims invaded egypt 600AD they were the ones who infact robbed all the tombs and stole most.of egypts treasures. This is why they always insist no... it was the tomb raiders of egypt, such as a sealed great pyramids of egypt that has no entrance or doors or windows!

      @@itsmybike1078 most tombs were robbed WAY before Islam, or even Jesus. Great Pyramids were robbed in the first intermediate period, which was almost a thousand years BEFORE RAMESSES 2nd. Who came after second period Egypt was conquered by foreigners. Later tombs, of course, were robbed later, but by not much after they were built. In fact by the time Muslims arrived in Egypt, it was already under Romans for 600 years, and before that, colonized by Macedonians, which, in turn, chased Persians away. Yes, Arabs did mistreat a lot of ancient artifacts like using dynamite in archaeology, but so did French, Germans and British.
      FURTHERMORE, like them or not, current Egyptian rulers are... Egyptians, and elected by Egyptian people after TWO revolutions. Sisi might be corrupt but his cabinet aren't foreign invaders by any stretch of imagination. And yes, 90% of Egyptian locals DNA is just that, native North African. And working in visible light alone makes no sense. That's for the next person who will do this project again in a few years.

Use the same stitching software to connect the shots and unwrap or super high res video. Several ways to accomplish this on a production line basis.

    Who's to say that the over writing ends there? There is a lot of support for claims that the constructions in question were not built by the Egyptians.

    A fairly common practice really. Later Pharaohs would claim other Pharaoh's sites. Ramses II was known to have had his name carved extra deep into the stone of his monuments to prevent the practice from being done to him. In the case of the hypostile Hall of Karnak Seti I began the project but he passed on before he was able to finish so it was left to Ramses to finish it.

      Ever wondered why Julian calendar has 12 months and a leap day every four years? Ceasar learned Egyptian Calendar while sleeping with Cleopatra. Than claimed it and someone renamed one month to July in his honor, then next guy was August...)))

      Not exactly. The Roman’s would definitely try to erase a disgraced Emperor like Nero. There are a number of Emperors that were unpopular and they desired to rub out statues especially. But they wouldn’t tolerate destroying Augustus or Trajan.

      The Elgin Marbles were purchased from the Turks, just before said Turks fed them into a stonecrusher to make road base.
      The Turks ruled much of Ancient Greece at that time & had no respect for Greece's past.
      ln fact, being muslims, they considered statues, bearing a human likeness to be an abomination.
      Lord Elgin PAID for those statues.
      lf the Greeks want them back, they should refund his money.

    Why do the carvings appear to be on an applique that was put over the actual stone of the column? If you used a wet plaster (not meaning modern day plaster) overlay it would be easy to push these symbols into the plaster using a template. That would make them sharp and easily seen as opposed to carving into the stone itself. I've never made a column but decorating it would be fast and easy with this method. It could be worth looking for small identifying marks which might have been carried with the template from one cartouche to another.
    At any rate, can someone explain the apparent 'flaking off of the inscribed material on the columns?

    • @peterblood50
      @peterblood50 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @BLUE DOG
      I would suggest that is what happened to some of the overlays. Over time they loosened. However it seems odd that there isn't any erosion of that type at the base of the pillar and no erosion where the overlays have disappeared.

    This entire complex was supposedly expanded by one ruler outdoing the next. A bigger pylon, obelisk or hall, until Akhenaten decided that the religion needed to change. I also heard the hall was brightly painted, so it was simply painted. What is nefarious about painting on a flat surface? Also any big project finished today would also see the leader try to take the credit and kudos for the achievement.
