i got this for Christmas and I'm generally pretty happy with it. it took me a bit to figure out the lock, but now i can 1 hand it by pulling the lock down with my thumb and middle finger, then push the tool in with my index. so far, I've used the scissors (generally really good, but causes paracord to fray), knife, file, awl, pliers, and i got to use the can opener yesterday to open up some beans. my main complaint is that it's very right hand focused (such as the scissor tab). it assumes you're going to always be using it in your right, which is not terribly helpful if you switch between hands or are left handed like me. it's also not terribly comfortable to really grip down on it with the pliers closed. i haven't had a problem with slicing myself on the scissors, but i do catch on the ends of tools, like the flathead screwdriver on the can opener. likewise, i also catch on the pull tabs. that said, it's very useful and it doesn't tend to bother me too much. if i had the choice, i probably would have gone with the SOG Powerpint or Ozark Trail Multiforce, but I'm by no means devastated to have gotten this for Christmas. i use it all the time with minimal complaint. I'm especially excited about the can opener, since it offers more leverage than my P58.
It really IS a good tool. I'd recommend it to anyone. But I feel it falls short once you start looking more ergonomic of heavy duty multi tools. That being said, it's still one I use around the house fairly regularly
This is the first honest review about this MT.😅 You expect what we should expect about a MT of this price. You can't compare with a $100 MT like everyone do
I have this gerber and love it!! I havent had the issue with the scissors. Although i usually carry it on my waist band / belt. Funny thing i also have the sog powerpint. I usually carry the powerpint when im going "nicer" places. Sonce it is small its easier to hide. But for average tyoe days i carry my suspension. Thanks for the video!!! Cheers 🍻
It really is a great tool! Maybe I'm just too clumsy to carry a grown up tool the right way 😁 Just not a fan of the outside carry. But that's what EDC is about- personal taste and use. Love my Power Pint though! Such am easy carry.
@@ConansEasyDadCarry could also be the "leather" like skin as my wife says. I guess working outside, on and off of farms and my version of skin care is whatever mechanics soap i can find on sale 🤣 , isnt the best for ones skin 🙃
Thank you for this review!! I like the fact that you mentioned the scissors cutting you, thats a big turnoff for me. I am looking to buy a Gerber Ultimate Multitool(which is kind of the same tool but the grip is more ergonomic and user friendly(tools arent exposed)), and the Leatherman rev, but I cant decide which one to buy =)they are the same price in my country.Great arguments!!! Incredible video
Thanks for watching! Those are both good choices! I think it just comes down to what tools will you use the most, and which brand offers the best quality and actual hands on function for those tools
You get what you pay for TBH. These are great for a tackle bag or toss em in your glovebox of your truck. I keep my MT in a sheath on my belt and usually go leatherman. Can never go wrong with a leatherman.
It's a good tool! Especially if it's your first one! I think it may have been one of the first ones I bought myself. Once you start using a multitool more and more, you might start wanting to branch out and see what else is on the market too. But it's definitely a solid one
Got an NXT for Christmas and I love it even more than my old Leatherman. But, I don't pocket carry my MTs, I throw them in my backpack or a belt sheath 🎄
It IS a good tool! My gripes are really just preferences. But edc is 100% about what YOU like and find useful. Btw- whoever got you that is awesome! It's a very thoughtful gift
@@ConansEasyDadCarry My wife loves giving 'useful' gifts. She also gave me a Streamlight, a Buck knife, and a few other "inexpensive but still useful" Multi-tools to keep around the house and in the vehicles. She's definitely a keeper! 😏
Don't get me wrong- this is a great tool! But there are definitely a few things that I feel get kind of glossed over. If you have the budget, SOG is worth the money
I hate to have this come off as an overall negative review. I'm a big Gerber fan! But yeah, as great as it really is, it's just so dang chunky, it tripped me up several times
The main 4 points are pretty secure without some serious serious work. The ergonomics and shape of the clip means it only really profiles to the "left top" of whatever whay it's facing. And while I don't have it on me to confirm, I want to say that the top of the clip actually has a tab that goes in a divot on the tool itself. Not to say that this is a *bad* tool, but there are other options out there that serve pretty well at this price point these days. Thanks for checking it out!
By “they” I’m assuming you mean TH-camrs with affiliate links… I’ve never heard anyone in real life say this thing is anything but trash… because it’s trash, that’s where mine went.
Yup! Totally pronounced it wrong. This was before I kinda started exploring them again. I apologized later for it too 🤣 it drives me nuts every time too now

I keep one of these in my kayak and its has saved me on a few occasions. Its not the best multi-tool but ita great yhe price and light use.
Love this in-depth analysis!

Gerber has always been the off the shelf budget brand for every single item they have to offer.
I have this and the locking mechanism is really finicky. Got it stuck open a few times. Oiled it several times and still acts up.
I received a free one of those, and I never had a multiple-tool before, and I really like it!

Carry it in any regular size pistol mag pouch on your belt.
Solid advice. I just like to have everything either in a pocket or in a bag personally. It IS a good tool, it just isn't my taste.
Great video, thank you!
I like mine I bout a Ozark trails muilttool just to get the push to use for this tool😊
The Ozark Trail Multiforce is still one my favorite multitools of all time!
Flissa makes one now with g10 scales looks like it covers the tools better 🤔
excellent review. i am looking for a new multitool and it seems sog has much better reviews than gerber

One of Gerber's better tools. But I agree, It is very cumbersome.

not sure if you even noticed this buy you can move the clip to any corner.....

There's a LOT of people who love this tool. I can see why, honestly, but it just isn't the tool for me personally.
It’s pronounced Vic-tori-nox. Victorinox. Say it again…Victorinox.
