This is a new one. After basic cuts were made last year it is time to start constructing branches and crown. Beginning of crown construction is always problematic...you never know where and how the trunk and movement of the tree will lead you. PLZ update your big Sylvatica would really love to see how it developed. So nice to see u active again anywise . Your trees and methods are unique hope u keep the chanel going. much love
Age tee... Unfortunately...my Sylvatica died 4 years ago. You know...there is one problem with such large trees...eventualy you have to fit them in a bonsai pot. There is no sense in having a bonsai that is not presentable and you cannot fit in any kind of decent pot. I think that moment is a crucial one in terms of weather some project will be a successful one or at the end not. Very big trees have very big and fat roots...and some have an extremely big surface root system which is aestheticaly nice but almost imposible to fit in the bonsai pot. And in that moment...the tree is not worth nothing ...that can never be presentable. I it is not a goal to have a garden tree in a wooden box or to plant it in the ground. So I always try to pot them as good as I can. I have tryed with Fagus also. But I have made a big mistake. The roots were cut rather drasticaly and many small and dense roots still stayed...that was fine. But the tree was pretty dense and has had a milion buds everywhere. I had to reduce that spring green mass which I didn t do. And when the tree leafed out the root systems was not able to cope with thousand fresh leaves. The leaves dryed out quickly. I have started to reduce buds and green mass right away but it was too late. Couldn t save her any more. That s life. At least bonsai life. Sorry
SandevBonsai Thank you for the clear explanation. So when collecting trees you would advice to reduce the roots as much as needed (and as little as possible) immediately? So there is no risk later when you put it in the bonsai pot?
@@thegreenmanalishiyamadori371 do not worry my friend....we will see what will come out of it...I hope it will come out nice and impressive tree. Will report in a year time...
I see a grotesque and wild tree. And that is what I like about it. Keep up the great work! Have you seen Harry Harrington’s trees? I think that you and he could make some amazing trees in collaboration.
Killer tree indeed! This nebari...! These 3 holes in the front. .. Awesome! Please keep us updated, I wanna see this monster's journey! How long did it take to get it out?
So nice to see you and Walter again!
I so LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your very large fairy tale trees. Gives me a new appreciation for what can be done in bonsai.
