I love these Vlogs - but never understand how these Vlogs are SO high definition and clear, it's like we're in the video with you! Does Lily just have the best quality vlogging camera ever? Never seen any other vloggers with videos this clear.. 😎
I bought my wedding dress from Selfridges - just went in, picked a designer white dress that I loved and took it home on the bus. So happy I did it that way! The one weddingy thing I'm glad I did was I had a little wild flower bouquet which I loved - I got mine from the Great British Florist online and they were super, I went for a Bridesmaid size which was perfect.
So agree on the low-key bridal thing. When I got married we really cut so many corners. Got a ton of quotes for flowers that were horrendous, but when I asked for a bouquet and one other arrangement we paid a fraction. Didn't feel right in proper wedding dresses either, so ended up getting an Ivory prom dress from Debenhams. Empire line, and very simple and my ideal! Enjoy the planning. Juno is a cutie. Love the name!
So refreshing to see someone getting the whole wedding thing is a bit too much. I had a purple wedding dress, 2 witnesses, and an impromptu booze up down the pub. Couldn't stand the thought of all the formality and attention. Lovely to see you doing it your way x
Hi Lily! I understand what you mean about wedding dresses. My boyfriend proposed this year and we are planning to get married next year. I am not into massive formal wedding at all (we won't have a religious ceremony either). I would like to keep it small and simple (plus we wouldn't have the budget for a formal classic wedding anyway!). I knew for sure I didn't want a "wedding dress" per se (expensive and for one day only!). So budget-wise, I looked into the higher end highstreet brands (for instance, Whistles, Reiss, Maje, Sandro, etc.) as I wanted to purchase a little white dress (formal enough for a civil ceremony, but that I would feel confident in eventually wearing again, and that could be dressed down as well). I was lucky to find one at this year's summer sale at Comptoir des Cotonniers. Good luck with your own dress hunt! xx
If you cover your hands with a thick lotion or body butter etc before, you can easily remove dark nail polishes without staining cuticles or fingers. ^^
Refreshing to hear a non-bridey bride. I got married in London 2 years ago. Non- wedding dress (check out Valentino Red, Temperley, Nordstrom...) children's book extracts as our readings, reception in a lovely local pub with amazing food. Mexican style paper bunting. No cake, lots of dancing from Spotify playlist. You really don't need to spend much to have a really fun day. And it should be fun rather than stressful :)
Twig is pretty similar to Fast Play and Mehr! I picked Twig up a few days ago and really love it, even though it's coming up to Summer here in New Zealand I always wear "Autumnal" makeup all year round because it's my fav type of makeup to wear! x
I enjoy your food clips. Thank you for always sharing the ingredients. Is it just me or is the food more gorgeous looking over there? Your fruits are always so bright and colorful.
Juno looks like she's the cutest, softest, sweetest little ball of fur ever 😍😍 I completely understand your wedding dress dilemma.. I keep picturing you in a (wedding) dress with pockets? I always think that's such a simple addition but makes the dress look so chic! Whatever dress you chose it's certain you'll look incredible, still so happy for you and Rich! x
I got married last February and got my dress from BHLDN, it's Anthropologie's bridal shop. They have some really nice dresses that don't look like the typical wedding gown, and not nearly as expensive. I totally know what you mean about not wanting a traditional wedding... we had a really chill inexpensive one and it was not the least bit stressful as I imagine most are. Congrats!
For a more "casual" wedding dress option you could also check out those dresses normally intended for bridesmaids that come in hundreds of colours / lengths that can be tied in lots of ways. I can't think of the designer names right now but you might know what I mean or someone in the comments. Also perhaps check out BrideDeForce?
I usually don't comment, but I discovered your channel through Anna and I really admire your personality and professionalism! I was thinking since you said you're more of a casual bride that you could get some inspiration from something like what Olivia Palermo wore for her wedding? She wore a cashmere sweater and shorts under a tulle skirt. It was very elegant but understated and not too "dressed up". I could imagine you in something like that, although she wore white you could wear a different color! Wishing you all the best with your new home! Thank you for putting in the effort to vlog during such a busy time. :)
At my wedding I had no bridesmaids,no cake,no bouquet throw, didn't have a white dress, did my own makeup and the only speeches were done by my husband and I.It was wonderfully casual, because even the least fussy wedding is still quite stressful,so the best thing is to try and keep it as simple as possible. Also, you'll see that the actual wedding day flies by so quickly, the only thing you will really remember,is the incredible love you feel spending the day with your future hubby.
I hear you on the wedding stuff.. I'm planning my wedding right now too for next November and I don't want the conventional wedding dress either. I was supposed to go to a sample sale today and I skipped out. Lol. I'm not feeling how much they cost either. I hate how they require appointments! Have you seen Olivia Palermo's dress where she wore the skirt with the sweater? I'm thinking a skirt/top may be an option (not necessarily like olivia's)... Juno is adorable!
Just to say on the wedding dress front..try not to stress and.just remember you don't have to get it from a bridal shop, it can be any dress you choose. I bought an 'off the rack' dress from a brand called Nicholas Millington for my wedding and got nothing but compliments on it, I felt like a princess :-) I didn't set foot in a bridal shop because I actually don't like the whole 'helping you try it on' and all the fuss of it, I just wanted to choose a dress I liked in a relaxed way. Places like Coast, Monsoon and department stores often have fabulous bridal dresses and also evening dresses that you could totally wear as a wedding dress :-) x
Love your sofa! I can see you in a vintage (20's or 30's) ivory dress, very simple and a headband of some description. Have you thought about looking in vintage shops? Understand your feelings - I loathe formal wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses. Good luck finding something!
I eloped to new york and got married in City Hall. Got my dress from monsoon, didn't want too fancy but still wanted a nice dress and had to fit in my small hand luggage case. Monsoon definitely have some lovely more relaxed wedding dresses. xxx
Love your sweater from the beginning of the video!! J. Crew has some casual wedding dresses on their website, and I saw one today on new release from Kate Spade called the Dessa Dress that is so pretty but isn't stuffy or formal. Hope you find something soon!! Love your pup
I was exactly the same as you Lily. Most things about weddings give me the icks, and when I had to set foot in those hideous bridal shops I just about broke out in hives. We just wanted our wedding to be relaxed, grown up and non-fussy but with amazing food and wine for our guests. We just skipped anything we didn't want to do ( cake, bridesmaids, the first dance etc) and in the end it was exactly as we had hoped. It should reflect who you are as people, not be a copy of every other wedding. Ps JCrew does great simple/relaxed dresses that don't cost a bomb
I heard a trick to avoid that all the nail polish go all over the hands. Before you take it off, apply some cream or moisturizer and then you remove the nail polish with the remover and it supposedly works.
Please please can you do a how I style my hair video. I have hair naturally the same as yours and really want to be able to blow dry it nicely but I find it so hard. A video would be so useful!
I was such a casual bride Lily, we didn't want to spend big money on the things that were over in a day. The most important thing to us was that the people who were there sharing the day with us were important to us. We didn't have a cake, or a seating plan. We had games there for the kids, and blankets in case they fell asleep. We got married last New Year's Eve after 10 years together, and I still can't think of anything I would change if I were to do it over again. It's important that you do what works for you and Rich. Good luck with all the planning 😊 (PS did I miss it somehow, or did you not include the link for your friend's craft channel?)
I bought my wedding dress from BCBG super casual and not the typical ruffles and bows wedding dress.., I dress it up with very nice veil for the ceremony .
+Kate Wilson This is what we did for my cousin's wedding. My other cousin and I baked up homemade cupcakes and frosting ourselves and served them in cute boxes we got off etsy. It was one of our gifts to her and the groom
Try Jenny Packham dresses. They can easily pass as wedding dresses but come in different designs and colours. They sell them at Debenhams and I'm sure she has her own shops too.
I really like how you relaxed you've become in your vlogs and also your regular videos! Since you make more vlogs and show more of your personality I really enjoy your channel a lot more :)
Designer recommendations: Derek Lam, Erdem, Zac posen, Valentino. Color recommendations besides white: Beige, red, grayish blue, pale green. Unconventional wedding dresses from movies: simple midi length dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, red wedding dress worn by Rachel McAdams in About Time, and (not a movie but) Olivia Palermo's wedding dress. Hope this helps!
I know you probably have a million people giving you wedding advice, but I just want to say, don't stress about the dress too much. I bought a dress for $150 "off the rack" that was too big for me... my mom's friend altered it for me, and total came over to just over $200 (USD)... It wasn't my favorite and probably wasn't the most flattering but I bought it because I knew my husband really liked the style, and it was simple, and it fit our outdoor beach wedding. Because I saved so much on the dress I was able to have an amazing honeymoon. And it was 100% worth it.
Your plan to go to Selfridges for your wedding dress completely matches my thoughts. I'm really attached to the idea of a green wedding dress for some reason and I reckon that it's possible to pick up something perfect and beautiful and rewearable (!) for the price of an entry level traditional wedding dress. Anything wedding related seems to be incredibly marked up. I'm hoping that you decide to vlog or make some videos regarding some of the process behind your wedding as plans develop. I think you've got a really practical attitude about things and I can see you having some excellent ideas/advice to share.
Lily!! I'm also a very casual bride to be (our big day is coming up in exactly 6 weeks)! I totally know how you feel about big poofy wedding dresses. I felt like a kid dressing up for halloween with most dresses I tried on. You should check out bhldn (it's anthropologie's sister shop) that does all bridal stuff. There, I was able to find a gorgeous no frills dress by the designer Tadashi Shoji. They carry that brand in other places as well but they do really great lace/ready to wear dresses that can be dressed up and used for wedding gowns. Good luck! xoxo
I'm just like you with weddings...I'm also engaged and my fiancee and I are also super relaxed, my priorities with the wedding are: good food, lots of alcohol, good music, and a nice enough venue. That's it. I don't want to dance waltz, or have a wedding cake (isn't so much better to have a dessert table?), and I want a veeery simple wedding dress. I only want to have a fun and relaxed day with my family and friends :)!
I got married in an old (atleast 7 years) BLACK dress. Tried and true. It has even been altered once, because I changed sizes. We still got to sign papers and have rings. Do what you want to do with your dress. I paniced the day before and ran around stores looking at white dresses, but (of course) didn't find anything. I was pretty happy with my choice after it was all done. Good luck!
For beautiful wedding dresses that are more simple in style, look up elfenkleid in Munich. Stumble across their shop and was drooling over all the dresses.
Lily im loving your ideas about your wedding!!would love to hear more on this! I just got engaged too and i would feel the same on the bridesmaids thing!! Please share ideas like this:)

loving your vlogs, especially the food bits. Juno is so cute!!
I am currently looking for my wedding dress and I'm having the exact same problem! One piece of advice I would give you is that although you think you might want a more casual dress, it is definitely worth trying some more bridal shops cos they will fit the dress exactly to your body. Have a look at hearts a flutter in London they have some more casual labels like Heidi l Nora, also try bhldn and j crew who have pieces that don't scream wedding. Net a porter and asos are also worth a look. Good luck, would love to see how you get on xx
Really look forward to your vlogs Lilly, for some casual wedding dress inspo have a look at grace loves lace. Its a bit pricey but good for ideas xx P.S. Juno is the cutest !!
Your flat is looking BEAUTIFUL! Love the decor. im engaged too & 'normal' or 'traditonal' dresses are definitely not for me. But I found a picture of the most stunning dress (it's not white) Now I just need to find out where the hell I can find it! Haha. x
My mum and dad went to Jamaica on their own to get married to get away from the stress of it. My mum still has her dress and it is a beautiful long linen dress, it was so simple and elegant
for taking off dark tonned and red based nail polishes you should try China Glaze' nail varnish remover ( I dont know if it's available in the UK) but its a blue liquid called 'Ranforrest' ( i think ) which is specifically for that sort of thing and you get none of that smudging/staining from removing the colour. and their actual nail colours are pretty good too :)
I think weddings can easily get a bit...tacky? is that the word? I totally get where your coming form. I think you will be stunning no matter what you wear- I have a feeling your wedding will be very chic and cool.
You would really suit a dress by designers Belle and Bunty. They do some of their styles in colour as well as the usual white or Ivory. They're lovely dresses and not standard weddingy style. The petal is my personal fav. Really flattering on.
Hi Lily! My cousin just had a very casual wedding and she loved looking at anthropologie, and their site bhldn which has some really pretty dresses that aren't as "wedding"-y :)
❤️❤️❤️your vlogs
I just did a Back to MAC for Mehr. Totally Lily Pebbles enables ;)
P.S) JUUUNNNOOO cuteness!
I love these Vlogs - but never understand how these Vlogs are SO high definition and clear, it's like we're in the video with you! Does Lily just have the best quality vlogging camera ever? Never seen any other vloggers with videos this clear.. 😎
ikr.. thats what i thought.. lily vid quality are so sharp
+Stina Egeberg 60 fps rendered videos. not much vlogger does that because of the video size.
Olivia Palermo looked stunning on her wedding day and she wore a sweater and a skirt!
Love to watch the progress of your flat. Your sofa looks comfy. Keep blogging Lily 😀
Vlogging even!
I love your apartment... I love the way you are decorating it...You have such great taste. The puppy is so friggin cute. Love her. xoxo

You can use that paddle to tuck in loose sheets on your bed and it tucks it in really tight. They use it in hospitals in Thailand :)

Your eyebrows in the car on the Sunday look sooo good!! They suit you like that perfectly 😩
I totally am on the same wave length as you about 'traditional' weddings. I love the designer dress idea!

Try the pots you stick your fingers in for getting off nail polish! They sell them in primark but I know bourjois do them too!
+lily pebbles, try marchesa notte. They don't do wedding dresses, but think it may be up your alley!
Lily, I love your vlogs. I'm so happy for your moving and engagement!

You should have a look at the "grace loves lace" dresses! Very unique and beautiful :)

I loved your wedding dress talk! Another casual, non girly bride here!

I couldn't sop staring at your lashes the whole time! What mascara do you have on?
Juno is so precious!
I love the name Juno! so adorable!
When my parents got married, my mum wore a black dress. Years later the dress was "recycled" and now my mum has a lacy top and a nice flowy skirt. :)
You should try Reformation for wedding dresses!!! highly recommend them! congrats by the way! xx :)
Fast Play was my first and my (Still) favourite lipstick by Mac :)
Haha. x

for taking off dark tonned and red based nail polishes you should try China Glaze' nail varnish remover ( I dont know if it's available in the UK) but its a blue liquid called 'Ranforrest' ( i think ) which is specifically for that sort of thing and you get none of that smudging/staining from removing the colour. and their actual nail colours are pretty good too :)
awww so adorable
Gorgeous Juno! Love the makeup at start of vlog x
I love the check shirt you're wearing on day 1! where can I find it?? xx
Your new puppy is too cute! xx
you should get the nailpolish remover where you just dip your finger in, so easy and way less messy!
no cake!!?? thats the best bit haha love the vlog as usual! x
i hav the exact same shades in blue! feels so nice to own something like lily!
Looking forward to more updates on the casual wedding, so fun and interesting!! :)
I think weddings can easily get a bit...tacky? is that the word? I totally get where your coming form.
I think you will be stunning no matter what you wear- I have a feeling your wedding will be very chic and cool.
oh and tell Kat at Gleam I said Hi! Had the best time hanging with her while I was in London!
Your new puppy is so cute!! ❤️ And I always love watching your vlogs.
Greetings from Paris :)
You would really suit a dress by designers Belle and Bunty. They do some of their styles in colour as well as the usual white or Ivory. They're lovely dresses and not standard weddingy style. The petal is my personal fav. Really flattering on.
"Ah! Hair, Make-up, Banana, Leave!" Hahaha laughed so hard :D I love your Vlogs
Hi Lily! My cousin just had a very casual wedding and she loved looking at anthropologie, and their site bhldn which has some really pretty dresses that aren't as "wedding"-y :)
Juno !!!!!!!!! She's lovely xx
Hello... i could listen to you talk all day. Love your voice. What kind of dog is Juno?
She is adorable .
Have a look at Rue De Seine bridal, I've iust purchased my dress from them. Much more relaxed designs ! X
Juno is lovely Lily! Cheers, Liz from the States
love rewatching your vlogs
I know what you are trying to say. You want the dress to look like you, not like a costume. I totally get it! You will find the right dress 😊
Check out Minna Hepburn wedding dresses - I think they would be your style! She has a store in Oval.
Aw Juno is so cute! And loving your sofa btw!
