This is my NEW go to point n shoot 35mm film camera! For a very long time the Olympus XA was my go to “point n shoot” but this time around it’s different. This camera is absolutely insane and if you can get your hands on a Nikon L35af you are going to love it!

Old guy here. I used this camera at the reception for my mom and stepdad's wedding in the mid to late 80's. A few years later it went in a box where it sat up until a year ago when I rediscovered it. It was my reintroduction to shooting film.
Daddy chill
?? Thats so random lol
My favorite point and shoot is the Konica Hexar AF. Why you ask?
1. Brilliant, large viewfinder with 35 frame lines.
2. Reliable, fast and absolutely quiet autofocus that works in any light.
3. A fast and sharp f2 35mm lens that can easily compete against a Leica Summicron 35mm.
4. Absolutely silent leaf shutter and automatic film advance. You CANNOT hear this camera having taken a photograph.
5. Flash sync speeds all the way up to the top shutter speed of 1/250s thanks to the leaf shutter.
6. Great ergonomics and looks.
Essentially it's a fully automatic Leica M with a 35mm f2 lens.
indeed it is one of the most unique and marvellous camera, but for that price tag... man it´s so expensive right now
👍Konica Hexar AF
1/250th is awful slow , isn't it ? Larry
One thing you didn’t mention about the auto winder noise is that the camera doesn’t wind until after the shutter button is released. Which is helpful if you want to avoid the noise in that exact moment.
this is one of my favorite features! shutter is a bit loud but being able to delay the winding is amazing. I got mine for $20 (a bit steep a while ago, not a bad deal now) which was a plus
You have the 2nd and 3rd version of the 1st L35AF. The 1st is considered the best due to the extras such a 2 stop over exposure switch next to the lens and you can put 46mm filters on it took. Also they had screw on lenses for telephoto and wide angle with lens windows over the view ports so you accurately see what the lens sees. It's my favorite for sure, but I'll buy whichever one I find for a decent price after I've checked it thouroughly. Always carry batteries of different varieties or you could waste lots of money ! Great video.

The shutter on my L35AW AF just died so I’m having to send it off for repair. Already missing it so much. Such a good camera
YES YES YES, this is an amazing camera. I love it. you can also do double exposure on them by rewinding the film and shooting it again, ultra sharp lens. Its one of the cameras I would have a hard time letting go as it is so good. You can also get a waterproof version but not sure how good it is.
Your videos are always interesting and well done. It didn't convince me trade in my sharp 38mm 1:2.8, quiet, manual-winding Minolta AF2 for a noisy, auto-winder. Not anti-auto-wind; I'll take the Pico for its small size when motor noise doesn't matter...
The Minolta AF2 is also definitely a favorite. That and my Voightlander Vito from the 50s.
Cool video man! The first version (l35af) has a 5e4g lens (sonnar design) wich is way better than the leater versions (af2, af3 that have 4e3g tessar design). The l35af has the disavantage of being chunky and loud but apart from that it's a great camera !
Late reply but totally agree! I got the L35AF from my maternal grandfather and the AF2 from my paternal grandmother but there’s just no comparison. The original AF is a far better camera.
This is my favorite point and shoot too! (Also loved my Olympus stylus, but dropped it in a waterfall) :/ anyway, the only thing I’ve noticed with my l35af is that it sometimes gets stuck in the timer mode. Anyone know how to avoid this?
I have been loving my point and shoot more recently. Took my canon p and s to a NFL game recently. Can't wait to get that roll back!
Are you going to post them anywhere?
I do love to see the result, pls share if u can
I remembered picking up a L35AF for $6 from Ecothrift years ago. Crazy to see how much they go for nowadays.
Around $200 now. Must be more than retail back in the 80's.
That’s a steal !
I can’t wait to use mine. I inherited this camera a couple of years ago and haven’t used it yet.
I have a Konica big mini after having multiple stylus’. I’ve always been intrigued by this camera though!
I have been wanting a point and shoot camera for a while now but there are just so many and I never know which is better. Needless to say, this is great video and I appreciate the information!
Deals are still out there. Just won one off an estate sale for $15. I was super hyped to win it and can't wait to see the results from it after I shoot with it this weekend!
I have one sitting on my desk right now! Haven't been able to put a full roll through it yet. I really need to stop loading all these cameras I have sitting around the house.
I have one on order. I think first model with AF on the front.
Thanks for your video. I actually found one too at a shop. Mine is the One Touch with "macro" written on the lens. The see-thru flash cover seems to be missing although the flash itself fires just fine. Is the white plastic card in front of the flash supposed to be moving when the flash fires? Yours seemed to be. Mine is stuck inside the mechanism.
The olympus mju2 is my go to camera... Most of the time..
Since you also have Minolta Hi-matic AF2, how would you compare these 2 cameras? They seem very similar.
My favorite is the Rollei 35. It even has a light meter built in. It uses zone focusing that you have to get used to. But it 's very easy to use and is so dinky small it would fit into your pants' pocket.
just picked one up and I LOVE it. Lens is so sharp and soft, and its compact
I bought a Nikon L35AF last year after seeing one of your older videos. I mean every video I watched on the camera had good things to say. I spent over a $100 to get one in mint condition from Japan. And after about 4 uses it’s now dead 😢 my 3rd and 4th rolls got stuck and the shutter button started giving issues, so I was only able to shoot successfully twice.. I guess I got unlucky
When ever there is a popping camera , you are into that , bruh you are making trends
I use the Nikon zoom tele touch 400 and when I developed my photos a majority of them came out blurry or super grainy. Any ideas on why this could have happened or tips for future shooting?
sold mine for 90bucks. its a proper brick. just got myself a Pentax PC35AF. a better choice in my opinion
I have the same mode of Nikon L35 but when I turn it on and click the shutter, the green light turns on in the viewfinder for a couple of seconds and then it stops and doesn’t fire the shutter. You guys have any ideas on how to fix it or what’s wrong with it?
What about the Minolta Riva Mini or in the other name Minolta Freedom Escort?
This camera have an excellent lens but there is some issues that at least for me makes this camera not a good option, 1. there is no iso selector, everything is for DX code, so you can´t play with the exposition, 2 the autofocus on all of these type of cameras is just not reliable, 3, you can´t cancel the pop up flash unless you always press the pop flash with you left hand, man thats sooooo unconfortable.
What a fair price for this Camara if I was to buy one? Thank you
Mine lasted for two rolls.
Anyone here should check out Lucy Lumen’s Analog Adventures she features this beast heavily
No sample pics😭😭😭
Can you make a video on a Contax G1
I am ordered Olympus infinity Jr from eBay, this is good? I'll have 1 film camera - Ricoh xr500, but want to fastest "everyday" camera, and buying this Junior
Hella random but what brand of beanies do you wear?
Hey just came from your acoustic cover of sleepwalk
Meanwhile in Arizona no thrift stores even have any cameras. It’s worth mentioning that the original L35AF has a 5 element lens and the rest have 4.
mine is the XA2 Red version :)
Camera collection video?👀
Do you stil own the Nikon 35ti?
What price do you think is reasonable?
Honestly, under $100. The average price in the market atm is at $100 or more.
I bought a L35af for $20 a month ago.
Nikon L35AF.
recently sold my L35AF (original) for 185 $ 😎
no yashica? seriously?
It’s now selling for almost €100 lol
I’m seeing $2-300
Picked up from antique store for $35 best camera ever
Yashica T4 is daddy
Yes sr
The price rise after this video is inevitable
Hope this doesn't drive the price up :(
You're late.
Look for thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales and even flea markets. They still have some great finds.
ay
cool, are you in Bay area?
Eco thrift!!!!!!
Kisses. Mwah, mwah, mmmmwah.
Who the hell is this guy
You always sound stuffed up
