  • Today its still a bit wet from the rain, so I decided to pull out some of my old frames I road over the years and take a look at what's changed, and weigh them to see how far we have come with specs and materials! I hope you like this trip down memory lane. Let me know what you use to ride and what you ride now.

    I had Gary Fishers, old GT's, a Haro, the same Eastern Grim Reaper, old Standards, 2nd gen Premiums, couple of Sundays, a semi-custom Solid King Cobra..., a WTP Lo-Fi V3 from 2009 (the very first ones with removable brakes, and the only one that I keeped built)... I enjoyed every single one. Maybe I'll come back for 2022 with a new and start again, I've been missing this sport for too long. Thanks for sharing Mike!

    Great video Mike brought back some memories! One in particular was the fact that I rode a DK S.O.B. when they came out in 97. The frame was awesome but heavy as hell and very shortly after putting it together the paint started just flaking off and DK did not care what so ever! So I ended up custom painting it and eventually sold it.

    My favorite old school frame was my McNeil Heaton frame, which I still have the complete bike of, bit now I'm about to get my third LairdFrame. Being a shorter rider, 5'6", having that 20" TT and short 13.75" chainstays on the Heaton opened up a lot of bike control for me and helped me progress soooooooo much and it weighs a total of 32 lbs

    Back in the late 90s/early 2000's, that 6.3 pound general Lee frame was one of the lightest ones on the market. Shows how much things have changed. Out of all the bikes I rode, I don't think I ever rode a frame that was under 7.5 pounds lol. The S&M Kris Bennett or the Kink Fiend were the two lightest. I loved that fiend frame. Its geometry fit me perfect and I really started progressing fast with it . Plus I was serious misfits fan(still am)

    @xpndblhero5170 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember seeing the General Lee frame and I really liked it but when a friend got one I was disappointed because it was heavy as hell.... I was the only one who rode a race frame as a street bike, I ended up getting the Huffy Supercharger lightweight aluminum complete and I swapped everything out. New forks, bars, wheels, headset, everything... I was even running ⅜ axles until I started getting "super tech" (at the time... LoL) and needed to get a flat 14mm for the rear. I still have the frame but I crashed it pretty badly and I was hospitalized for a few days and couldn't ride for a few months after that and I had to get a new frame and bars. It wasn't the bikes fault either.... I jumped a huge set of stairs and bent the bars which caused me to basically land on my chest, on the bars, and bruised my heart and cracked a few ribs. When I went to get back into riding I noticed a strange feeling like the wheel was loose.... That's when I seen the huge crack through the welds. 😩
    I don't feel too badly about it either because one of the local riders had a 2-hip aluminum street frame and it was awesome.... But WAAAY out of my price range. 😅

    Can you make a how to for jumping bigger gaps and drops? I haven’t seen any videos like it so it would be a good tutorial and would be helpful if you could talk about the approach and landing especially. I’m sure you have some pretty gnarly old videos that you could show.

    Hey man! Nice video! Hello from Montreal.
    Ive been grabing some bmx frames on marketplace. The one ive picked is a old one, very heavy, specialized on the crank… with square frame for the back wheel… any idea what could be its model…
    Heavy like a tank!
