Wow, impressive progress and she really starts to look brand new!
When I had my 968 and did a few little upgrades / restorations to the interior, I couldn't get over how much of an upgrade the CS steering wheel was. Really transformed the car. I also installed a new shift boot and while I was at it, I removed the little storage lid armrest thingy and replaced it with the 968 CS tray. But mine was a coupe that I had slowly turned into a 968 CS M030 spec wise (thicker ARBs, Koni suspension, 928 S4 brake callipers etc). Maybe when cruising in the convertible you might as well use the arm rest.
Thanks man! The thing with cabrio is that the handles for the roof is stored in the arm rest thingy, in the coupe this is cassette storage so replacing it with the tray is a nice upgrade, but for the cab you will then have to find another spot for storing the handles.
With regards to suspension, I think the only thing I will be doing is installing Bilstein B6 all round, I will keep the rest stock as this will be more of a cruiser than a racer.
@@GarageBiljon makes sense! I would probably do the same. Was more reminiscing about the time I had the 968 (lost it due to a crash, still miss it sometimes) than making suggestions as to what you should do with yours.
I know the feeling @@tond2006, I sold my first 968 back in 2010 and always missed having one. They are special cars.
Hi Johann, your progress is great. The interior is looking really nice, almost like new with the brand new steering wheel a shifter boot. I have also installed CS steering wheel, long 13 years ago when I bought mine 968. I used a resistor instead of the airbag and never had a problem with it. In your other reply you mention that you may install Bilstein’s B6 dampers. I just finished the conversion and install of the front B6 struts and will be installing the rears this weekend. I hope everything goes well with your car and I’m looking forward to your next episode.

Absolutely wonderful. I only wish the cluster install would have in better detail. However over all I enjoyed it tremendously.
Installing the cluster is very straight forward, justa couple of screws and clicking i the wiring harness, not even 5 minutes of work. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
nice work Jon! Remember that you need to put in a resistor to fake the car into thinking that there's still an airbag in place.
Thanks Jeff, I am leaning towards the factor airbag delete plug instead of a resistor, but not 100% sure yet.
@@GarageBiljon that would, of course, also take out passenger airbag functionality. Probably the better choice.
Thank you for another excellent episode. Its coming along very nicely and the new shift boot and steering wheel just gives it that final "new" touch to the interior. Regarding the clubsport steering wheel, have you got a jumper for the airbag plug so it doesn't come up with a fault code?

I have two options for the airbag. The factory delete plug or by installing a resistor for the wheel airbag keeping the passenger airbag functioning. I am not sure which direction I will be taking yet.

Thanks Adam! The boot is original Porsche, they still seem to be the only people able to make a high quality knob and boot.

Johann can you explain me something? English is not my first language so mayby I am missing something ;) You are mentioning "salt" covers, but the floods were inland and nowwere near the sea, so were comes the "salt" from ? About the fitting of the (non airbag) steering wheel see my remark on the Dutch Porsche Forum.
Hey Willem, I am not talking about "Salt" but "Silt" or in Dutch "Slib". The consistency of it like clay so it is quite hard and requires a lot,of,effort to dissolve and clean.

@@GarageBiljon Oke nou dat ligt niet zo heel ver van Nijmegen af. Ik heb zelf een 924 uit 82. Ik wil hem aankomende zomer weer rijdbaar maken en kom daarna graag een keertje buurten, als dat zou kunnen?
