Awww yeeee here we go. (first). For the ashes of war stuff, it goes like this: Heavy = Strength scaling. Quality = Strength and Dex. Basically, changing the affinity changes what stat your damage is coming from. If you look at your weapons in the menu, you will see they have grades on which stats they use. For the bloodhound sword, you won't be able to change the ash of war like the normal weapons, since it's a unique weapon. Most boss weapons and stuff are like that -- they usually have really insane ashes of war built in anyway, to make up for the lack of flexibility. The Bloodhound Sword is basically a "quality weapon." Below are all the scalings explained from a reddit post. Also, you can respec later if you don't like a weapon or something you put stats into, or if you want to try something else.
    Heavy: Changes to Strength-scaled physical
    Keen: Changes to Dexterity-scaled physical
Quality: Changes to even Str/Dex physical
    Magic: Adds Int-scaled Magic
Cold: Adds (less) Int-scaled Magic, and non-scaling Frostbite buildup
    Fire: Adds Str-scaled Fire
    Flame Art: Adds Fai-scaled Fire
    Lightning: Adds Dex-scaled Lightning
    Sacred: Adds Fai-scaled Holy
Poison: Adds Arcane-scaled Physical and scaling Poison buildup
Blood: Adds Arcane-scaled Physical and scaling Bleed buildup
Occult: Changes to Arcane-scaled Physical and causes innate status effects to scale with Arcane

I like your videos. I wasn’t planning on making suggestions since I like watching you explore, but I have over 1,800 hours in the game and there are some suggestions I will offer.
    1) Buy all cookbooks and maps from merchants, because they allow you to craft items. Also, pick up everything - flowers, herbs, rune fragments, etc. Most things can be crafted into useable items. Get all armor and weapons from slain enemies. You can sell off extras for runes (money).
    2) On the Southern Isle (lowest part of Limgrave [the green section] Go to the southern-most merchant (Isolated Merchant Shack) just past the Walking Mausoleum. From him you can buy a Lantern. You can always activate the Lantern, but especially in caves and catacombs and it hangs from your belt, which leaves both your hands free for a shield and a weapon. (Until then I am so glad you moved your torch to your left hand).
    3) At the round table, buy the healing incantation from Brother Corwyn. Using the finger seals (in your left hand) you can use the incantation to heal yourself from minor injuries and save your health flasks for when you need a major heal, or use it if you run out of health flasks.
    4) Rowa fruit can be crafted into raisins, which can heal Torrent (your horse) while on the fly. Also, You can always dismount and get back on Torrent (he returns at full strength).
    5) On your menu screen, you have six pouches in the upper right corner. Use them! If you hold the Y button, the first 4 pouch items will be quick and easy to access using your D tab. Mine are in this order: First I have Spectral Steed Whistle then to the right Rowa raisins. Second row Lantern then my favorite Spirit Ashes to help in most battles (like you said, they can take the heat off you a little). Third row I have things you don’t yet have, but put in any items you want to access quickly without having to scroll through your inventory.
    5) Search everything carefully. I have seen you miss a lot (passage ways, etc.) which means you aren’t finding a lot of things. Go behind buildings, look over rampart walls, look over cliffs, plus some places do have hidden walls that you either need to roll into or hit with your sword.
    6) The NPC’s have story lines. Some are vital to progress the story, while some are just fun - like Boc (the bush you hit and turned into a monkey man who wants to be a seamstress like his dear old mum).
    7) Collect Sacred Tears (which make your flasks more effective) and golden seeds (which give you more flasks).
    8) Put on the best armor you can wear (while remaining no more than medium load) and Build up your armor and weapons using smithing stones to make them more effective.
    9) I recommend buying the blue and white ciphers from the twin sisters at the round table. The blue cipher allows YOU to be called into another player’s game in order to kill the invader who is ruining their game. If you are successful, you are rewarded with a Rune Arc to use in your game and it enhances your abilities.
    10) Go to Third Church of Marika in East Limgrave, where you’ll acquire your flask of Wonderous Physic, which will make you much stronger when taken before or during a boss fight.
    11) When you see the white walls blocking an area from your progress, stick a Stonesword key in the gargoyle statue and you can unlock that area.
I could go on and on, but I won’t unless you want more tips. You are starting to learn about talismans which are very important in the game. You’ll also want some spells like ‘Flame Cleanse me’ that eradicates poison and scarlet rot when you are inflicted by them.
The time of day matters in the game. Some enemies only come out at night, such as Night Cavalry and Death Birds. This is an amazing game and you’ve only uncovered… honestly… about 2% of the game so far. Good luck!

Mate just you go and explore. That's the whole point of this fantastic open world. We'll gladly watch what you find.
Regarding the hidden path: Yes they do exist. Hitting the wall or rolling against it will reveal it. That being said: Those paths are rare and 99% of those messages are trolls. It doesn't hurt to still try tho. Behind some of these walls are very interesting things. So if you see a message on a wall, just try it. We won't laugh. Better than missing out, right?

Nice to see another Elden Ring video from you, seems like you are really starting to get into it now that you've gotten to play for a bit and found some cool stuff. You should just play the way you like to play, get a feel for the world and worry about the main story when the time feels right. You might want to equip a Sacred Seal so that you can use incantations, the class you picked started with one and a couple of incantations, so definitely try it out (casting uses that blue bar, you started with a minor healing incantation which can be nice in early game since you get some extra healing). Certain "cursed" enemies can also be murdered by using healing on them. In fact, there is one particular boss/enemy that is hard as nails to fight unless you heal him to death, just remember the name "Revenant" :D
Those fire spewing pillars that are in the catacombs can be hit (weapons, arrows, throwing items all work) and they will most often be deactivated and stay that way between resting at graces. They can be activated again and used to kill stuff too, and sometimes you can even use them to get to new areas by riding them ;)
If you find some Crystal Throwing Knives and use those on the stone enemies like the Stone Imps and even that strange Burial Cat-Watchdog (with a cape) boss interesting things will happen. I'm going to let you find out how you can use that to your own advantage ;)
There was no hidden path where the message was written, you will find lots of those kinds of "hilarious" trolls. There are hidden paths/illusory walls to find though just so you know :)
Also, by the Lamp! It stays on your belt and you don't need to carry around a torch. The Merchant that sells it can be found in a shack near the beach of south western Weeping Peninsula, near that walking mausoleum with a bell (just head west from where it is and you'll find the merchant if you haven't already)
If you can't get rid of the red X on weapons by two-handing the weapon is pretty much useless. The Bloodhound Sword is a great weapon, no doubt, but everyone and their grandmother seems to use it, get too attached to it and then just keep using it the whole game so it's actually refreshing seeing someone try other things (and there are so many cool weapons in the game)
I hope you keep playing and sharing your adventure, it is a wild one and it will only get more interesting.

12:26 if you ever get confused about the "heavy" "keen" "quality" stuff when changing ash of wars, here is a VERY short explanation. (And it's still gonna be long as shit.)
Those are called "affinities" and they change what stats the weapon uses to calculate damage.
Each weapon has a base damage value, but it gets a bonus amount of damage based on your stats. A big heavy weapon gets extra damage the more strength you have, and a quick light weapon gets extra damage the more dexterity you have.
Upgrading a weapon with smithing stones raises the base damage and raises the scaling.
This is called "scaling" damage and becomes more important the further into the game you get.
Because the base damage is a flat number, the scaling damage is multiplicative. Meaning the damage increases far more each time you level up, and can reach absolutely criminal numbers if you play your cards right. The scaling has ranking of E/D/C/B/A/S, meaning an E scaling in strength might give you a small damage boost each time you level up strength, but an A or even S can almost double your damage after a few level ups.
When applying an ash of war, it lets you change the scaling of your weapons slightly. Specific ashes of war have different scaling options, and you unlock more as the game progresses.
They tell you what they do and show you the changes in the menu, blue means an increase, red means a decrease, but in general:
Standard: does not change weapons base scaling.
Heavy: raises strength scaling, lowers other
Keen: raises dexterity scaling, lowers other
Quality: balances out strength and dexterity to make them equal
Magic: raises intelligence scaling, adds magic damage
Frost: slightly raises intelligence scaling, adds weak magic damage and frostbite.
Flame: raises strength scaling and adds fire damage.
Flame arts: slightly raises strength and faith scaling and adds fire damage.
Lightning: raises dexterity scaling and adds lightning damage
Sacred: raises faith scaling and adds holy damage.
Poison: slightly raises arcane scaling and adds poison
Blood: slightly raises arcane scaling and adds blood
Arcane: raises arcane scaling and boosts the standard passive effect already present on the weapon (blood, poison, rot, madness, sleep, deathblight) by your arcane stat.

Tip for armor, get the drip. I don't consider first playthrough early to end game really that punishing for your lack of armor damage reduction benefits. So just feel cool and fight cool.
Alright now for the real tip, rolling have a set amount of i-frames, so sometime just dodging into the attack works out better than your usual instinct to dodge out. Of course there are some game attacks that will still catch you, but it's safer to dodge in than out. It's all really just how you look at the attacks.

Two things you need to know.
    1. The community has declared that the watchdogs to be cats
    2. Turtles 🐢 are officially dubbed dogs :P
Ok now a serious few tips lol.
One thing you need to know is to use your camera to scan a room for imps. They can be behind and on walls, on the ceiling and most importantly… on top of the arc where you enter to attack you from behind.
Another is to try to think logically when it comes to using elemental damage, for example, plants and tree people burn (as well as doing extra damage to those wearing cloth), lighting does more damage to people with armour (due to electricity conducting metal) and ice can easily frost most bare skinned enemies.
One more tip is to focus on increasing your endurance as it helps with increasing equip load, stamina AND the ability to equip better armour without sacrificing too much movement. Hope this helps :)

  • @coryfelcher6072

    A tip about weapon scaling:
As you level weapons up the scaling grade increases with certain stats which makes the weapon do more damage as you increase that stat. So if a weapon scales D with strength and C with dexterity it'd be better to only level dexterity since you get more added damage from it.
The Dectus Medallion is for the area after Liurnia of the Lakes (the next main area after the first 2 main bosses).
Also you'll be able to respec your stats after defeating the main boss in Liurnia, so you'll be able to change your stats for a specific weapon you want later in the game.
The Walking Churches are for duplicating Rememberances which you get from killing main bosses for boss weapons/spells. You hit the bones at their feet until they fall.
Keep it up! You've already gotten pretty good at combat so im excited to see how you do against the first main bosses, especially Godrick.

    Crucible knights suck.
The best way to kill them is learning to parry.
    (I suck at that.)
Next best option is having a decently upgraded weapon, and have the “Kick” ash of war on it.
When the Crucible Knight is blocking, or doing a shield bash if you kick, it will stance break them letting you get a critical hit.
This is for Melee fighting anyway.
If you are like me and use magic/Faith spells.
Rock sling is great, or Halo Scythe Ash of War if you are lucky enough to get it works great.
Black flame is decent as well.

Don't worry about rushing story on your first playthrough, the first time should be about exploration and learning mechanics. The second playthrough is when you start going for specific things you want and streamlining where you go and what you do.
You didn't have the stats to use the bloodhound fang, on the icon when you have it equipped you can see a little red X in the corner, when you see that the weapons will do basically no damage, have slower animations, and use more stamina. Try it again when you have the stats.
You're doing great, keep it up 👍

Strength is less of an issue. When you're under the minimum strength level, you can usually offset that by two-handing. BHF has a minimum strength requirement of 18, so you have to two-hand it.

Pro tip: the best way to play the game is to be flexible. Use different weapons and spells to see which ones are best for the specific situations, be willing to change your armor to resist different damage types. Don't worry too much about 'wasting' upgrade materials. As you play you unlock infinite upgrade materials one level at a time so you can max out a bunch of different weapons. Sticking to one weapon or playstyle is fun, but the game is teeming with all sorts of fun stuff. Each item you pick up is a "tool" to use somewhere in the game. Look at it like a bit tool box for you to play with.
People have beat the entire game with every single weapon/spell/item. People have beat this game only using their dodge roll, everything is viable if you can get creative.

Some people probably told you that you have to use the bloodhound’s fang. While it is a good weapon, you should use whatever weapon you like the most. This game had hundreds of different weapon possibilities, so just go wild trying new things. What I do recommend you get good at is understanding ashes of war and weapon scaling. Once you do that, leveling will make a lot of sense and you’ll be slapping everybody around. Also, if you have a three or four “main@ weapons, you can use those to try out things, like the bloody slash you just got.

You need to have 18 Strength and 17 Dex to use the Bloodhound Fang properly, it's doing crap damage because you don't have the stats to be able to wield it, even two handed. Once you hit 18 Strength and 17 Dex just concentrate on levelling up your Dex.

Yo one tip mate, your Flamedrake Talisman improves fire damage NEGATION, meaning it helps you take less fire damage from enemies. Use it when fighting a pyromancer or dragon, maybe. You are doing great mate, keep paying attention to the game, you will be rewarded handsomely! And by the way, take a close look at this giant thing's legs the next time ;)

Like to watch you, but could you cut out your face a bit so it has not covering half the scren with your background? Also definitly dont rush the game. Its worth exploring a lot. you would miss a lot of items too or dungeons.

Not everyone has a green screen. What are you missing out on anyway? He is fine. The editing is great btw.

@@kennethshaw2619 I think he means that he only takes 20% of the facecam,
there's a lot of empty space that could be cropped out, not too big of a deal.
Editing is really good, deserves bigger numbers.

So… it’s not “good content” but you know what… it is…(all I’m saying is, you don’t have to rush the game for our benefit… we beat the game already, we want you to as well, and experience the WHOLE game)
Bro… you need to take your time playing these games and talk to the NPCs or you’re going to miss out on large chunks of the game…
Go back often… repeatedly talk to people and always exhaust all the dialogue…
This is how quests are done in a FROMSOFTWARE game
