I agree w/u about Oak present & sweet at first crack. I tried it a week later & Oak was def more present, damn good. Great review Brother looking forward to 3yr Anniversary next wk. 🥃🥃🥃

I wasn't a big Knob Creek fan until I tried the 9 year old 120 proof barrel strength. Still looking for the 12 year old version as well as the 15 and 18 year olds.
That latch shit is absolutely crazy! Appreciate you pointing that out. That said, nobody will ever get this bottle. Secondary will be insane. Enjoy your bottle, sir. The majority will never stand a chance unless they pay a jacked up price for a slurp at some bar selling it at 400% retail.

Funny, I thought the KC15 was unbalanced with too much oak already. I cracked this one & you are absolutely right, the oak is back in balance. It absolutely makes you wonder what a KC21 would be like.
100% correct, KC15 is at the oak limit, maybe past it, so I'm surprised that KC18 is less oaky than that.
It just proves that it's always the batch and not the years that determines a good bourbon. 🥃

I got lucky and came across a bottle of KC18, but mine has a wedge of wood that you also have to pull out once you lift up on the latch. I'm not going to try it but I don't think it would fall out.
The wedge slides right out if tilted at all...mine does anyway

Could have bought the KC18 but was worried because I tried the Elijah Craig 18 and didn’t really care for it, seemed overly oaky. Might have to see if I can still get the KC18.
Wonder if that box will cause more breakage or the Barrell Grey & Gold boxes? If you fail to put your hand underneath it, the bottom just falls out and drops the bottle like metaphorical deuce!

I own this bottle and many other expensive bottles. I never open them. I just drink WT101 and Early Times. The only expensive bottles I ever open to drink are Scotch whisky because you can taste the quality. Bourbon is much less nuanced.

@@jolkraeremeark6949 It's the marketplace we live in and they want. I was watching the Japanese CEO of Beam Suntory on "Mad Money" (Jim Cramer) recently. The point he repeatedly emphasized through his weak English was they are focused on "premiumization" of their products. They love those big fat profit margins on any and all "premium" products they can get us to buy. As a capitalist, I understand it. As a whiskey person, I don't like it.

I had a pour of this at QBB in Mountain View, CA and thought it was a great intro to a meat-heavy dinner. So I picked up a bottle for $275 rather than spending $70 for four more pours.
funny 12 year gets praise. 15 year gets thumbs down by most but 18 is best ever. very head scratching. I'm going stay with 12 and call it a day.
