Great content once again. Please pit the VI TME RS against a 22B Sti back to back 🙌🏼
As you mentioned, the Celica is more a comparison to the Escort Cossie, that would have been a fairer match up.
They did do a “limited” version of the GT-FOUR. It was the GT-FOUR WRC Edition. Different manifold for anti-lag and a few others. Didn’t make it any quicker, just a homologation thing.
To be fair, if the Celica had another 70bhp, it would be a different animal. The handling is capable of so much more power. Not to mention the interior is far superior. I was always put off the Scoobys and Evos because of the shabby interior.
There’s also a 5SGTE that you could built using the GT4’s head and internals and a 5SFE block taking the displacement from 2.0 to 2.2 and defending on the build can make upwards of 1000hp if built correctly (most that I’ve seen make more along the lines of 500-700bhp).
The gt4 is restricted they have a tvsv which bleeds away psi on the turbo actuator if you remove it add a boost controller set below the factory boost cut 1.1 bar over 300bhp is easily achievable along with good breathing mods
One thing to consider: GT-Four debuted at the same time as Lancer EVO1. And that would be an interesting comparison.
the first gen gt4 celica st165 was released in 1986, which was one year before even the galant vr4 which was considered the pre evo
Added boost controller and basic mods air filter de cat and the celica comes alive much better to drive with boost turned up a bit.
Yeah the power was massively restricted due to restrictive intake and exhaust, plus only ran about half the boost than that evo I believe.
Do the same to the Tme, and it takes another big leap forward.
Both of these cars are my dream cars I hope I get to own them both at some point.
I have always preferred the EVO over the Subaru. But now my question is this, How does it stack up against a Toyota GR Yaris 1.6T Rally ?
Can’t wait to see that comparison 😬
They raced one on "Officially Gassed"pretty much neck and neck. GT-four vs GR Yaris.
I’m pretty sure the Yaris would smoke the evo, but I still prefer the way the evo looks and it will always be cooler to me personally
All rally cars are monsters that includes celica GT4 Mitsubishi Subaru and more. I own Celica GT4 homologation model WRC edition is the special editions only made for WRC rally track also for road use. Only homologation model are the spec editions and there are standard Celica GT4s built as well. Standard and special editions are slightly different. Shocks and suspensions are not the same standard GT4 and Homologation model WRC built differently also there is a water cool for the radiator squirts water to cool it down from overheating also has anti lag systems flames from the exhaust also heat shields are different. That’s the difference between standard GT4 and special homologation models WRC. I also own a Subaru WRX love them both Celica GT4 ST205 homologation WRC and Subaru WRX both are monsters. Do remember the 3SGTE ST205 was the best engine that’s Toyota has ever built along side with 2JZ engines. You can boost 3SGTE to 600 horsepower can still defeat a 1050 horsepower toyota Supra because that’s why 3SGTE engines just built for power an example who defeated the legendary SKYLINE GTR at the race track? Toyota Supra with Japan engine swapped with 3SGTE than dominated the legendary GTRs that’s because the power of 3SGTE is a killer can kill and kick a lot of asses that’s the truth. Anyways both cars are nice I love my JDM cars
I've got a nice 1993 Nissan Pulsar gtir absolutely loved it had it for 10 years now😎🇬🇧🇯🇲
All the WRC bits - antilag, etc are disabled, SuperStrut Suspension is no different, it's a myth thats built up over the years to make people with old WRC (Generally 1994 cars with a lot of miles) think they are worth 25K with confusion in the fact such in actual racing they ditched the Superstrut
Suspension is the same across all ST205 GT4 years and models
@@Soulrollsdeep WRC edition have super strut suspension also the shocks are spec editions compared to stranded GT4
@@thegunmenautomotivecarspra5112 Wrong. ALL GT4s have Superstrut and the TRD springs were aftermarket.
what's the small circular hole on the bonnet for....always wondered.. cheers.:))
I need to go and check now but I think it is air flow
@@Challengetheroad it’s a weird one, I’ve checked out vids and the air box is on the other side, then saw a picture online of the engine bay and there is indeed a very small rectangle cushioned inflow port to accept it
Pretty sure it’s an air duct to cool the timing belt.
@@chillinginny4490 oh really, I'd not heard of that one before... interesting, cheers!
celica supra the true toyota monster
i own a gt4, and agree that the evo tme 6.5 it the better handling car out of the 2 of them,
i put a link ecu into my gt4 made 340bhp its a different car to drive way more responsive and makes the car feel more alive, and add some coilovers it handles a lot better
Did you change the pistons? If not, you're in for ringland failure at some point
@@Soulrollsdeephow prone are these cars to ringland failure if left stock?
@@Ballsack44 they are extremely reliable if they are left on stock boost/power, just like any other Toyota, 350hp is pushing the stock rods/ pistons that's generally accepted as the limit for stock bottom end. and then depends on how you drive you could get away with running 350hp indefinitely if you are easy on the car and have a really good tune
@@mikemcinnis12so better be safe than sorry
Is this a gt four evo comparison or is this about the evo? He only talked about how great his evo was
❤️gt4s
The WRC would be more comparable to the TME. Although I love both these cars and the video was amazing. I just didn't hear the WRC referenced at all and I felt it unjust to the Celica.
Thank you, which WRC car as we have quite a few - Subaru?
@@Challengetheroad The Toyota Celica GT4 WRC Edition is what Im referring to :)
Theres zero real world difference with the WRC bits - it's a myth to up the prices of second hand old heaps - it's a laugh to watch. I'd agree that particular car does appear a bit under powered.
@@m60kaf Ahh so its a non-wrc u own lol, with only 2500 of them made they are a bit more special than a few added parts. id rather have 1 than the "norm" gt4s :D
@@GT-gt1yi they are unique, but in terms of performance there is no difference, the extra parts are not functional from the factory, and are not really useful anymore as they are outdated.
97-00 Galant VR4 Type S is where the real sleeping is going on
How much better is the Tme rs than the Tme?
Quite a bit different much more raw!
Jayemm is a proper car nut but I prefer the evo
Lovely cars ❤
Thank you - mega to drive
la Celica avanti anni luce come stetica, evo veramente brutta,ma velocissima
How do you compare a bone stock car with one setup with an Ohlins suspension and then say it doesn't have the same feedback?????? Who are these people???
Are you referring to standard TME car
