Khop khun na ka, Kru Smuk! Learned so much in just half an hour. You explained the MC consonants so well that made me able to read the 5 sentences at the end (tho I don't have any idea what it means except 2 sentences have the word "pen" in them.)
Congratulations for your first Thai sentences. It’s good to be able to read before digging deeper for the meanings. Once you master a basic Thai, reading skill then you can focus on vocabulary and conversational skills.

thank so much for this lesson, teacher. I have watch a lot video from other teacher and I can tell this's the best guiding lesson ever. I don't mean the other lesson is not good enough, but you guys have to admit she's prepare her lesson plan very carefully and the way she teaches so slowly, it make Thai language easy to learn and understand, also make the Thai alphabet look less scary and less difficult for foreigner students.

Based on the video above, would like to ask a question. As for จัก, you said it was J.A.K. the last letter, was it not supposed to be G?
when 'ก' is put in the front of a word it's 'G' sound but at the end of a word it's 'k' sound.

I have two questions regarding the final consonant sound:
1.consistent use of the rule
At the 20:45 mark in the video you explain the fact that for consonant jaaw jhaan (plate) the ending consonant sound changes from "j" to a "d" (in your example not "aaj" but rather "aad".
However you don't apply the rule of the changing consonant sound to any other case during the video. For example at 09:12 the "d" of daaw dek (child) should be come "t" to produce "gat", "dat", "jat" instead of "gad", "dad", "jad".
Could you please explain what I am not understanding correctly? Why does the final consonant sound of daaw dek (child) not change?
2. The consistent use of the sound across various sources eg for jaaw jhaan (plate) the sounds of the initial and ending consonants is vastly different:
2.1 you use "j" and "d"
2.2 Wikipedia uses "ch" and "t"
Is this merely a difference in transliteration convention?

I read from the book Thai in a Nutshell that ก is still pronounced as “g” when finish, but you said จัก is pronounced “jak”, which one is correct?
10:20 isn't that g-oor gai ? shouldn't that be JAG ? not JAK ?

Hello Kru Smuk, thank you for the lesson & the energy & passion you put into it, After being married to a Thai for 30 years, I've decided to learn to read & write Thai.
I thought in Thai there was only 8 final sounds the dead unaspirated being final K,T,P, therefore ดาด daat
Initial p,bp,b,f sounds all had final sound P & initial t,d, dt,s,ch all has final sound t and k,g initial had final k all these being dead unaspirated sounds therfore a word sound จาด jaat, please help

a polite way to end the sentences. kha is used by women, and krap/kap used by men

The letter อ can be used for both consonant (place holder that is silent) and also part of different vowels.
A tip for you, if the อ is in between 2 consonants then it’s a vowel.
อ (sà-rà-aw) with -aw vowel sound. 😀

Why is it that you write "deg" and "jag" but you say "dek" and "jak" ? The sound is g so why k?
Next time when you read up some thai letters make sure you can spell it down so we can understand and read it.
