I've love a old ford and done plenty of welding on different ones over the years and trust me there will be rotten in the normal places shame it's left hand drive as you know in the UK anything retro ford sells for silly money because of the demand never seen brake fluid that bad 😂🤣 he's changed to Mr happy today
I have many old Fords. Love them too. This is pretty much rot free. I will do a good look around for the next time. Doesn't bother me if it is LHD. That's why I love the UK. Everybody loves Ford's. That brake fluid was bad. It's fine now. Mr. Happy was on holiday mood 🤣 His back to normal now 🤣🤣🤣
What about the welding needed? MK3s were often completely rotten when less than 5 years old, so a very good idea to look very carefully at the structure before carrying out any other work. Back in the day it was possible to get repair parts to sort the main areas of rot, but they are going to be very difficult to find today. Take the battery out, and check for corrosion underneath, is an easy way to see how bad the rot is..................
Hi. It's pretty much rot free. This car lived away from the wet uk weather in the heated garage for 31 years. Because it spent most of its life in continental Europe, I think that's saved it. Under the battery, it's rot free. There is a tiny bit here and there. But will be showing around the underneath next time. Will make pointers about the bad bits for sure.
Yes, I know what you mean about the rot. I have two other escorts. Another mk3 and mk4 cab xr3i and fiesta xr2i as well... I was very lucky with this car 😊
@@garyestcourt2377 For now I`m not goin to replace the carb on it. But if you seen the Barn Find video on my other channel ?! Was super easy to start after 31 years. So for now the carb seems to be working okay. But thanks for the tip. Always better to keep things in mind for the future :) I changed Solex to Weber before on my other ford.

@@oldskullgaragebuildit Thats lucky! They rot very badly pretty much everywhere, if they are UK cars!

@@oldskullgaragebuildit I worked on many Mk3s when they were not very old, and rot was very bad even then. Good you found one with no rot.
@@humourless682 I was very lucky with this one :)
Given its age its in amazing condition. Well done guys. Bit confused tho. Is it RHD OR LHD
Thank you. Its in pretty good condition. It is a LHD. I know on the driving shots looks like RHD just the camera tricks the footage.
If that's an 1100 good luck had one new in 84 biggest pillow of shit I ever bought, lucky if I got of the drive , Seriously 🥴🥴🥴🥴
Hi. It's actually a 1.3. Drives very nice now 😊
@@oldskullgaragebuildit Good luck 🤞
Thank you 👍
@@oldskullgaragebuildit Btw apparently the problems all stemmed from the VV carb 🙌
