The thing about the original is that the team felt like a REAL team, not actors thrown together. All of them look like they could be real-life marines.

I just watched tonight, the new predator directed and written by this prick hawkings, and is utter shit, is like watching Ironman, I can0t understand how in fucking earth they need to do every fuckin movie the same, CGI ultra monster, big explosions, lame jokes, and tons of effects, you name it, every fucking movie, (aquaman, jurassic world, avengers, transformers, evrything) Why cant any fucking director try to play with suspense, shadows, characters, I fucking hate this new movie, and the first one, seems to be the best of all of that shit...

Even now this scene terrifies me... The angles, the music, the predator "clicking sound" offscreen, the head of the girl when she sees it, the scream of the guy, the blood on her face then this invisible shadow who drags the dead body into the forest... It's so well filmed, so efficient, everything is perfect in that scene. Now i have chills just hearing this music, that's how you know when a horror movie is efficient, same for jaws and the exorcist themes

The soundtrack is amazing. Maybe the best ever?
And they filmed this in the middle of a REAL jungle. Green screen and soundstages simply are not able to recreate the feeling and atmosphere of genuine location shooting on a film like this. The Revenant, although flawed, is one of the only modern films I've seen that replicates this to fantastic effect.

You never film this in a real jungle. As most shit in the jungle and even the inspects try to kill you. Likr huge ants thay cover the floor and kill everyone during their shift. Everyone backs off.

2:21 Always sends chills down my spine
Love the tracking shot of Dillon and Mac running at 1:03. Always felt the sense of speed really upped the ante in this scene (along with the music). Never really paid attention to Elpidia Carrillo's reaction all that much until just now, but her reaction to the blood splatter is up there with Veronica Cartwright in Alien!
I am so glad someone else pointed this out. It's such a quick shot, but it does wonders for the intensity and pacing. You really get the sense these guys are booking it.

Non of the actors in this movie are Oscar contenders, but I must say John McTiernan really got the best acting possible out of the whole bunch in this movie. They act really well, and I'm sure McTiernan worked very hard to keep them at a high level.
@@morlvol John McTiernan is the reason the film is as good as it is, and still holds up well over 30 years later. This could easily have been a cheesy B movie.
This is one of those films that will go down in history as a masterpiece.
When it came out it was seen as a dumb action move, but I think now people appreciate it a lot more. It's sorta like Sergio Leone's "Man with no name" Western trilogy. Back then they were seen as vapid, but today most agree they are the best Westerns ever.
When Dutch is crawling away desperately after being beaten senseless by The Predator, thats the best acting ive ever seen from Arnie. He actually sounds like hes in actual pain. To see such a tough massively built.guy reduced to a helpless beaten dog was awesome directing.

I remember when I first saw this movie as kid and I was so engulfed and amazed by the action during the first part of the film that I was not at all ready for the horror it turned into. Obviously the first clue it wasn't just an action flick came when Billy discovered Hoppers team en route to the rebel camp but the whole game changed as soon as Hawkins got hit. I have loved this movie since the first day I saw it when I was 14 and no other film has ever had a grip on me like this one does. What a story it is.

I was 7 years old when I first saw this movie. And this scene by my perspective is considered the most frightening moment. 1:00 we witness The Predator achieve his first kill. The moment where we see this unseen character kill Hawkins freaked me out. I didn’t know what killed him, but it swiftly killed Hawkins with little effort and dragged his body to another area. Was too scary for me. The music and the sound The Predator makes before it killed.
Same feeling to me... and i was 15 or 16! Must have been a great shock watching this in cinemas in 1987.

I was in my early twenties when this movie came out. My three teenage sisters and my mother were fascinated with this film and would watch it over and over again. The plot, the special effects, the characters. the action, the suspense, and the predator himself were all very fascinating and yet horrifying to us. But from the security of my mom's living room, we all would rewind the tape over and over again or ( I think it was a cable channel) to see certain things or scenes about the characters or story line that we found interesting. It was fun to try to spot Dutch camouflaged with mud from the predator's viewpoint in shades of blue whenever the predator would look for him and couldn't see him. We had fun dissecting a lot of the scenes in the movie. Because of my teenaged sisters' and mom's influence, this classic is currently running in my DVD player and I am watching it right now as I comment on it. This movie fascinated me, and I thought it had a great cast of characters that gave the story shape, color, style, mystery, and depth. It was like being on an adventure watching Dutch prepare himself alone for his ultimate showdown with the Predator and to finally show him that mankind is still the champion of the universe when it's time to compete. I like the impact it made on me and my family. Great movie!
I like how Poncho catches up with Anna, and when he sees her condition he immediately gets his eyes up. Then he gets to figuring out what the hell happened to Hawkins.
Yeah, back then it was unnoticable, but nowadays details like that stick out - 'cause you know that in a modern movie they would ruin this scene with unnecessary dialogue.
Yeah cause he hands were still tied so there's no way she could've done anything, specially cause Hawkins is special forces, so he knew there was someone or something else there
This movie never gets old for me, saw numerous times and still looking like a new blockbuster 🙂
hands down for me this film is Annie's best...besides the terminator....his acting in predator was fantastic especially when poncho says "I can't tell" at 2:16

This to me is a perfect movie. Story, Acting performances, Cinematography , Visual Effects, Sound Effects, Premise , Groundbreaking movie monster. It all came together. It never gets old.
I'll never forget seeing this movie as a kid, watching it with my dad. I was completely terrified of this scene and some others. But this one in particular because it was my first death scene with the predator. Now I"m older, I cannot get enough of it!

What i like about the original predators is that it starts with action, then turns into mystery to built tension, following with horror and it ends with the touch of sci-fi. One of my favorite movies.

It mortifies me that Shane Black, someone I love so much (for Lethal Weapon, Last Boy Scout, Nice Guys, I even enjoy Iron Man 3) could assassinate the Predator franchise more efficiently than the Predator in this movie did him.
Hawkins wanted revenge for the Predator killing him, so he destroyed the Predators’ reputation.

love the shots at 1:04. I feel like modern movies overuse shaky/fast cams, especially during fights. They use it properly here to give us a sense of panic and rush. During the actual fighting there is no shaky cam.
I also thought it simulated the running etc.
Can watch this over and over, it never gets old - such a classic movie.

That time Arnold was in very good shape, he also was in a perfect age. I enjoyed all the movies around this time from Arnold. I also miss those "simple" action-movies: Just good entertainment for a couple of "hours". :-) - I consider Predator to be the best movie with Arnold as an actor.

Always enjoyed the consistent increasing terror of these scenes. The chase in the thick jungle, the infrared watching them, the Predator following by their distorted heavy breathing. Hawkins is briefly seen as a good guy asking “please” to Anna seconds before the nasty sound of the wrist blades slice him open. Then glimpses of this creepy transparent apparition. Has everyone like ah omg he’s invisible!
