Workplaces need a velvet glove, not an iron fist. As an employer, you have the power to make or break the well being of whom you hire. With Jill's official promotion as the new employer, she was able flex the work schedule and integrity for the workers at the company while making time to share with her son. After getting fired, Derek made good on his promise to sue Ryan and Jill. During the trial, his testimony held no water since Ryan and Jill provided the history records of him abusing his authority, lack of integrity, and mistreating his employees. The judge dismissed Derek's frivolous lawsuit and ordered that he was now forbidden by law to work in the managerial field. Without his so-called reputation, Derek suffered a nervous breakdown and was escorted to a mental hospital.

As I have heard many times, particularly in movies with inspirational leaders, a good boss is not one who can control those working for him, but one who cares about them. They make sure they can work properly, they care about their well being, and they are willing to support employees, well at least one who don't exploit their kind heart. Instead of being a controlling tyrant, they take others' thoughts into consideration rather than firing them on the spot. They make constant changes if they see something bad happening. They understand their well being, plus make sure that they are willing to give employees a chance to learn from their wrongdoings before considering firing them.
But sadly, some bosses love using all their money for bad stuff and underpay their employees. They look down on everyone below them (and probably above them as well if they feel like it). They make "false news" claims, break promises they made without notice, fire those who just want to be treated properly, and force their workers to live in a "dystopian environment" (firing them for no reason, being way too close to everyone, etc). [And one terrible truth is that another guy who makes these types of videos is a perfect example of this, plus unexpected hypocrisy, none other than Dhar Mann].

I would never quit a job. If you quit, you give up all your rights. When I want to leave a job, I just go out of my way to get fired (without being written up) then I get a 4 month paid vacation that is unemployment. Last job, I just talked shit about my boss on social media and leaked it to the work snitch. Got fired for "violating company social media policy" but I didn't admit to writing the post (I don't use my real name or pictures on social media).
So they had no actual grounds to fire me and they did anyways, an hour later I applied for unemployment and a week later the checks started rolling in. Got to enjoy a few months off before finding another job.

After Jill was chosen to be Derek’s successor, she made the company building a better place for everyone, and she was also able to spend more time with her son. Years later, Mr. Bentley announced his retirement from the company, and chose Jill as his successor. Derek failed to keep his promise to sue everyone at the company, because no lawyer would take his case after word about his behavior got out to the public. He also couldn’t find another job anywhere, leading to him becoming broke and homeless.
