Bought some of your American dark green seed a few weeks ago, did my renovation 2 weeks ago tomorrow and its coming through great so far, really pleased
🔥 awesome feedback thank you - mine has been abit slow with the temperatures. Use the dark green feed as your first few cuts 👍 gardenlawncareguy.com/shop/fertiliser/glg-spring-summer-dark-green-fertiliser/
Nice job, looking forward to seeing the results. The weed grasses you had, did you manage to identify if it was mainly poa annua or others like poa triv, Yorkshire fog, creeping bentgrass etc? Weed grasses definitely the most frustrating thing about trying to achieve a nice lawn!
Glad I found this channel - gem ! Going to be following your method in renovating the back end of my lawn which has got crabgrass. Also finally got someone who is specifying the grass seeds to use. I'll check out your website
Hi Matt, I’ve just ordered your seed start and dark green and sun and shade products. Can’t wait to use them! Just one question, it’s really sunny today and I’d like to get started on my lawn but my top dressing isn’t arriving til Tuesday. Do you think I should still mow and scarify and maybe do the overseeding on Tuesday?
Doing a full renovation after killing off lawn due to too much poa. Could have done with a lanzie spreader. Got 12 bags of dobbies "lawn dressing" and it was full of lumps of clay, twigs, stones, shredded plastic and even a few bits of glass. Sieving it by hand was soul destroying, but the lute was brilliant after that. Cold temps so slow growing, but starting to show signs it's going to look good. Got your dark green lawn and seaweed plus as well, how long should I wait before starting to use those ... new seed has been showing tips for at least 3 weeks now.
Thanks for trying the products! You can use the seaweed plus now and repeat monthly the dark green lawn use when grass is established and you are cutting it as its a powerful feed
Hi Matt, can you please tell me on your Scott’s wizz hand-held spreader what setting number did you have it on for the grass seed plus what setting number also for the seed start. Thanks William
Hey Matt! I’ve just done this renovation a few weeks ago using your start seed and sun and shade seeds. When is the best time to put dark green fertiliser and also when is the best time do do the first cut? It’s been 2 and a half weeks since the renovation that I did :)
Thanks for the detailed video. What size is that lawn and how many bags of compost did you end up using in the Landzie? Trying to gauge how much compost to buy for my project.
Not sure if he will reply but that machine is a swardman reel mower. It is not cheap. Think only one place sells them in the UK. It will cost in the thousands. Then the scarifier will be an additional cost as well.
Hi how do you keep the birds from eating all the seeds nice video iv tried loads of times but the only thing that seems to work for me is a scaffold netting pinned about 4 inches over grass but just long winded cheers for any advice
Hi Matt, scarified my lawn a few weeks back (power raked) seeded and put down start fertiliser. Front lawn looking lush but back garden parts are lush like the top and 2 sides are lush but main slope and bottom of lawn has alot of Yorkshire fog in it. The scarifier I used (ellinhell same as your old one) I used the power rake attachment do you think next time I should use the scarifier attachment (thick blades) to take out the Yorkshire fog grasses, sort of scared to use that incase it turns my lawn into a mud bath! I like the idea of making those tracks which in turn good for seed and fertiliser and air and water to get in. Trying to get a mainly ryegrass lawn. Going to cut lawn at weekend after putting on a spring treatment down last week. Will send pics after cut and upload to your page.
Hi Graham cheers for that. Yes the fixed blades are best for seeding in my opinion as they hit the soil profile. If you can dig out the fog, spray to kill or if you are careful I have killed parts of it by using a small paintbrush with killer on the leaves. It will spread aggressively over time. You can scarify it and knock it back but it will not go away
Once again Great video mate..just about to order seed and the fertiliser from u, just wondered as jve got really sandy soil would it b pointless buying the wetting agent as I'm just reseeding and overseeding my established lawn cheers
If water is freely running through the existing soil then should be fine andy 👍 if the soil is hard or gets dry patch / runoff then the agent can help.
I'm doing this tomorrow. I need to roll the ground afterwards, otherwise the rain will wash the seed down the hill. (my lawn is on a slope) However I am very worried that the compost will stick to the roller because it is wet. What can I do?
Cheers Adam! was some rootzone I had left over from a bulk bag of my site, I dont do the small packs any more as postage and handling was too high gardenlawncareguy.com
Awesome video!! I did mine a few weeks ago but had a scarification rake and no compost spreader, so results are mixed. Is there a way you can rent these rather than buy? Or other cheaper alternatives?
I've just used a weed and feed on my lawn. It says your not supposed to overseed until 8 weeks after you apply it. Is there a way around this problem? Like if you mix the seed with topdressing can that make it ok. I can't wait 2+ months for a nice looking lawn.
After overseeding when your seeds are established Kristina switch to this fertiliser which is nearly 4 times more powerful in terms of nitrogen for feeding established grass gardenlawncareguy.com/shop/fertiliser/glg-spring-summer-dark-green-fertiliser/
@@GardenLawncareGuy hopefully the question won’t be too dumy, but rather asking than making something wrong. Can you be pls more specific what do you mean by the soil? Thanks
@@GardenLawncareGuy Jack’s new formula has been disappointing this year. Smaller bags, less peat and loads more fibrous material left in the spreader afterwards. Will given Westland New Horizon a go, thanks GLG 👍
Only thing I did notice was there is little white stones of what looked like pumice in it which over time just go into the soil I guess but didn't like the thought of them getting stuck in the reel. Quite fine though overall
I did exactly the same as this last year. I got rid of (dug out) most of the weed grasses. I then over seeded with a high quality rye grass mix only to have more Poa this year. How can you guarantee that the seed your using does not contain weed grass seeds?
Seeds from poa annua can be dropped and lay dormant for years. Doing renovations on your lawn opens up the soil and allows these seeds to germinate. With a full rye lawn, you'll inevitably have winter die back as rye needs a lot of sun, this die back causes thinning of the sward allowing more dominant grasses to grow. Also because rye is a single plant rather than a stoleniferous plant like fescue or bent it does not fill in these bare patches. So can you guarantee no poa seeds in your grass seed mix? I don't know. But it's likely that your lawn has poa seeds laying dormant waiting for the right conditions.
Because the seed is sampled, certified and regulated. Just today I had a government inspector visit the warehouse. Grass seed is a heavily regulated and controlled industry more so than you would ever imagine from the outside. I am proud to be fully liscenced and stock high quality seeds which are sampled to the highest standards
@@GardenLawncareGuy Interesting. Please correct me if i am wrong but your getting rid of weed grasses jn your lawn but the American dark green lawn seed you are selling this has 20% in the mix (smooth meadow grass) Which is part of the Poa family.
Any tips for getting clover out of the lawn? I did the back lawn with some of your shady mix and it’s just germinating nicely. Front lawn is next but after a weed and feed 2/3 weeks ago the clover looks as healthy as ever 🥺
You have various products and covers most needs but its a real shame that delivery is £7.99. Hugely disappointed to found out this upon getting to the basket on your online store.

literally dug out weed grass yesterday as you did, put in topsoil and seeded with kbg.even used same compost . what a coincidence.

Hey Viv - cut the grass when it's around 1 to 2 inches long and agter you start cutting and the seeds are up you can apply the dark green feed

80sm used around 7 or 8 👍

Where’s the best place to buy top dressing please? & can you overseed onto top dressing?

Perfect

I swear you were putting down way more seed start down than recommended in the instructions? Isn't it meant to be 30g per square metre?
25-35g per m sq. My back lawn is 80m sq so one pack at high rate is ideal
