Lucid Air Dream Edition Range | NEW HYPERMILING RECORD

  • With modern EVs, Range is a luxury. While charging at home is an option for many, the ability to drive long distances without concern for your range makes traveling in an EV even easier. That's why Lucid Motors worked so hard to deliver an EPA estimated 520 miles of range with their Air luxury sedan; A number that puts them over one hundred miles past the competition. And while that may seem hard to believe, this claim was recently independently verified by @InsideEVs US 's Tom Moloughney who drove an Air for almost 8 hours at a constant 80mph, but even Tom didn't drive it until the battery was totally dead. For this video, we wanted to know how much farther it could go.
    At the end of our testing, we couldn't quite travel farther than one-off prototype vehicles but we successfully traveled farther than any other production EV has traveled on public roads on a single charge officially beating the record previously held by @Sean Mitchell & @DÆrik : • 600 Hypermile In Tesla...

    I feel like we’re not excited enough about the fact that an EV that is currently available to the public is capable of driving SEVEN HUNDRED miles. Unreal. Congrats Lucid. Great video, guys.

    It is great to see Lucid Air has such amazing range if driving about 27mph. It will fit the daily using especially in Asia city which the vehicle speed usually around since 25 to 37mph only.

    Good teamwork!
    Did you arbitrarily pick 27mph or did you get that from Lucid? On my Air GT I've noticed subtle cogging at very low speeds. Every inverter/motor combo has its own optimum efficiency point and by feel I was thinking something slightly quicker (33-34) might be more efficient overall, especially with the thinner air up there in the high desert.
    I am really glad that Lucid helped with the effort and your result is truly impressive.
    Congratulations!

    Results 687.4 miles 7:45 . Is it getting this range because of efficiency or battery size? 27 mph is not exactly every day drivin nor is 64 psi in tyres.

    • @skittlesRgood182
      @skittlesRgood182 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think anything we do in our normal day could be confused as an attempt at a world record. So why would this attempt at a world record be confused as an attempt at "every day drivin"?

    • @alexnutcasio936
      @alexnutcasio936 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@skittlesRgood182 Because it distorts the reality of what the Lucid Air can really do, which is about 450 miles on its best day. Plus, if you're trying to make a record. at least do it realistically at highway speeds. Who drives 27 MPH anywhere?? This record has a LOT of asterisks attached to it.

    I would like to see a Lucid or any EV at a steady 7-8mph or legal interstate speed cross country. Say the SPAM Museum, MN to Wall Drug, SD. About 480 miles and legal speeds up to 80mph. This is something I have done in a day no issue in a gasoline powered vehicle without refueling . Will this test even come close to the EPA eMPG rating?

  • @4literv6
    @4literv6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They didn't do it by just stuffing a massive pack in It. Meanwhile irl the lucid air has the largest pack size outside of the hummev rivian r1t and lightning er. In fact the lucid pack is 20% larger than the base model lightning pack is. And nobody actually knows how large it is because Tom muloghney from inside evs showed it took over 134kwhs to recharge it and Edmunds showed theirs took over 143kwhs to fully recharge.😀
    Also the ONE tesla model s with their custom pack in it got 880miles at 50mph last summer and 750+in winter driving an average of 50+mph on Detroit roads. 🤔
