In my opinion the Kymco Spade is twice the bike the Honda Grom is. When I was looking for a Mini Moto I knew it would not be my only motorcycle, so I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on it. Anything over $3000 for a Mini Moto is kinda crazy in my opinion. When I found the Kymco Spade for $2000, I knew I had to get it.

The Bottom Line: 02:48
It also seems as if most who get a Grom always add a lot of mods to it that brings even more added cost.
Looks wise I’d place it on the bottom as well in comparison to the Z125, tnt135, Monkey, and Spade.
The Grom has great support which is a big plus and the best thing it has going for it, imo. Wish the Spade caught on more in the US so the line/parts would continue.
Same! Honda should revamp the grom and monkey and make them 250’s. And make them feel like real motorcycles instead of toys.
Totally agree. All good reasons. I don't want the Grom and z125 owners to think that we Spade owners are haters, because we are not. I like the Grom, I've been a Grom owner, I haven't had the chance to try the z125, ; but it's just that we think the Spade is a better choice. But there is nothing wrong if anyone still wants to buy the Grom. I am very happy with the Spade and after three years of ownership, without issues whatsoever, and never had to repair anything. They are solid bikes, very reliable. Thanks for another good video MM.
Love to hear it! Glad you haven’t had any issues. I haven’t either and coming up on 1 year / 2500 miles in.
Bought my 2024 abs model on sale at dealership for 3200, zero miles... Without all the other fees included. It's a horrible motorcycle that is a blast to ride and brings joy to my heart and others in their cars as I ride my lil shenanigan all over town. Vroom vroom
Glad you like your bike!
I really love the looks of the spade and was my first choice before buying a used 2017 honda grom in 2018 for 2900.
I said imma get the kymko once my grom dies, but it never did, 56k miles on it and still going strong on untouched engine.
Sold it to a friend and bought a 2020 monkey with only 350 miles. I'm at 4500 miles right now and love that thing but i wish they had a bit more power.
How many miles on your kymko?
I bought my Kymco Spade in March of 2023 with only 92 miles on it for $2000. Since then I’ve ridden roughly 2000 miles and will be adding some more on today!
I plan to make update videos at 2500, 5000, 10,000 etc. to tell people about how it’s been, if anything needed to be fixed and so on. But so far, no issues!
Im 4”11 and I like the Grom. Good video though. You don’t seem biased at all.
Glad you like your bike!
I’ve never seen any dealership selling Kymco power sports
Here in the Houston area there is at least 1 dealer I have seen that sells Kymco. But one of the big pros of the Spade is that you can find one at a steal on the used market like I did. Only 92 miles and bought for $2000. Hard to complain
Unfortunately the Spade is no longer available and hasn't been for a really long time. Kymco has pretty much pulled out of the U.S. market. About all they have is the $10,000 AK550 maxi scooter.
I feel like with better marketing back in 2018-2021 they could have dominated the mini moto space. But sadly I think you’re right
@ 6"4 what would make you think a small bike like the Grom would be a good look for you??? lol
DUDE youre 6'4!!!!
The Grom in NOT a sport bike, do your research!
You bought a used China bike with 90 miles on it where someone bought it and SOLD IT BEFORE IT HIT 100 miles!
You also bought a Carborated bike with like 0 aftermarket suport and parts. (Good luck down the road)
I've bought and sold a few groms as of right now still own 2 and stand by them
Great little wheelie bikes :)
Glad you like your bikes! But as a little correction Kymco has been making engines since the 60's and are based in Taiwan. Also, it is fuel injected not carborated.
love it but they just dont make spades no more do they. Just scooters from what i can tell. * i take it back, looks like you have to ship it in
Unfortunately they didn’t promote it enough/correctly and they stop us production. If they had the right marketing it could easily give the Hondas a run for their money.
I'm 6 foot, 210 my 2023 Grom was useless until I went down one tooth on the front
Glad you found a solution!
I’ll just cancel my channel now 😂😂
RIP 🙏🏼
This is one of the funniest videos ever 😅
Of course you also forgot to mention reason no 5 not to buy the Honda Grom: you never get the pleasure of gaining knowledge of how to repair a bike, coz them Groms are so irritable reliable that they never need any engine repair and goes on for years without allowing their poor owners hone their mechanical skills, which the Kymco will keep them busy doing all the time, for a couple of years, until the lucky Kymco owners will have the delight to change to a new Kymco bike as they the old one has died, but that is really a good thing compared to being stucked with that nasty Grom that just wont die… ever.. arrrgghh!,,
Grettings from a guy who rides a Honda Dax ST 125, and I promise you I will use your advice and buy the Kymco instead in 25 years when I will hand over the old Honda Dax in prestine condition to my grand son, and get the flashing Kymco instead…
I can hardly wait.. if Kymco exists at that time in the future.. but I sincerely hope so!
Good point! Nothing like working with your hands!
I have to admit that I am not the kind of rider who is mechanically inclined. That's not my thing, but kudos to those who are. Because of that I only buy bikes that are very reliable, and the Spade is solid as a rock. I've had mines for three years and has never had to do anything to them except oil changes. They are very reliable, and I ride them hard and often, and they had never failed me.
I wanted a monkey and I was waiting for my grom to brake or give up or something but it never did so I got tired of waiting and sold it. It had 56k miles on the clock and working perfectly.
gloms were designed for normal people, not lanky people, so of course you will find the whole thing not right, 5 foot 6, to 5 foot 10 is just fine and works well. I guess you're right about the high cost but at least you get a lot of it back when you sell, as your gonna learn soon with the kymco, it will be worthless when you sell it, so you lose more than a from owner!.
Why buy it if you plan to sell it? I have no plans on selling this Kymco.
You look too heavy for a grom anyways so I see why wasn’t giving out anymore power for you
Could barley maintain 50 mph on the grom. Can easily 65 on my Spade. Only 25cc difference.
