Re-engage exists to support older people who live alone and find it hard to get out in normal times. The Covid-19 crisis is particularly devastating for these people and many are feeling incredibly vulnerable, especially those with few family members or friends to talk to.
In response to the crisis we’ve suspended our regular social gatherings and, with the help of our dedicated volunteers, have set up a UK-wide call companions service. Older people who are feeling alone can receive a regular friendly phone call throughout the crisis and beyond, for as long as they want it.
No one should have to face this crisis alone. We won’t leave anyone behind.
We will resume our tea parties as soon as it is safe to do so. But, what are the tea parties?
Small groups of older people and volunteers get together for social events within their community. We call the older people who join our guests. The same group meets each month so guests and volunteers find themselves making long term friendships.
Once a month, normally on a Sunday afternoon, each older guest is collected from their home by a volunteer driver, and taken to a volunteer host’s home, where they join the rest of the group for tea, cake and companionship.

This was personally disturbing & saddening, because the film mirrored me...get up, feed the cat, stir coffee...next day: get up, feed the cat, stir coffee... sometimes I am lonely...at this point because of our world nightmare I'm afraid to be around people. I had an invite for both Thanksgiving & Christmas, but I declined because the people aren't vaccinated.

My grandmas brother just passed away at age 94..He lived may years with his grandsons family up till the day he died...Good way to go.
