    It was nice of that dealer to give you half off the cards he had priced 3x too high 😅 Im only kidding. Great video! Awesome pick ups. Compared to modern stuff, vintage cards are a bargain. U have a good eye for it. Thanks for sharing.

    • @SammyThunder
      @SammyThunder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. For some of the tables, that was the case. George had some cards that were 3x the price, but in his defense, his table had some cards that were probably priced from maybe a year or two ago. He was awesome and gave some additional discounts. I think George loves the interaction with sellers. There is almost a level of pride in helping others build their sets.

    Dave DeBusshere! Wow...man, you and I must have similar taste in obscure players lol. The Catfish Hunter and now 'big D'. Awesome. My dad enjoyed watching DeBusshere when he was a kid. Also, was briefly a baseball player for Chicago White Sox. Safe to say, Dave made the right choice with basketball. A member of the last New York Knicks team to win a championship, and a member of NBA Top 75 anniversary team as well.

      He's certainly a big name here in NYC. I remember watching the VHS NBA Awesome Endings when I was younger (which is an awesome NBA video btw, if you haven't seen it) and they cover the great 1970 NBA Finals where Reed goes down. DD had to cover Chamberlain.

    Hi Sammy, great footage. Being a repeat buyer from dealers you know, is a great way of building a relation, that more often than not, benefits you down the road. I'm not a fan of going thru cards that are just in a plastic bin or tote. I find it so much easier for everyone, if they're stacked in boxes. You had some really nice pickups (69 Seaver, 71 Clemente), but that Mays stand up, looks beautiful. Getting 50% off on star cards, is an awesome deal, any day the week. Nice pickups as always, and love seeing those ruler cards, very unique. Thanks for sharing, Stephen

    • @SammyThunder
      @SammyThunder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Stephen. The totes/bins can prove to be a challenge. Especially when you want to record footage of the show and provide some point of view footage. I feel like it can become a bit monotonous, so I try to give a little here and there. That said, you're right about being a repeat buyer. It changes everything in terms of making deals.

    It seems like just about every card show has same cards on display. I don't hate it...I'm more of a vintage collector, but just find it interesting. At least this East Coast National card show had some vintage basketball and vintage football mixed in. I like the Orioles hat in the back ground :] Some awesome pick ups, Sammy. Recently bought a Willie Mays card too. 1959 Topps #464 Mays' Catch Makes Series History...

      It does become a lot of the same. You're right about that and I have thought about that. I probably should try and make a conscious effort to diversify the table showcases.

      @nydibs ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was looking for modern basketball - I’m a big Anthony Edwards fan. Only 2 tables had good modern basketball out of like 500. All the other tables had the same stuff - baseball and football. Lots and lots of vintage

    Hi Sammy you are right on point the show was great i was there on Saturday and it was like going to heaven. I found really go deals in the side room picked up a bunch of mid grade slabs all like 5's 53 bowman of campanell, Dobly & Mathews 57 peewee & 59 arron & Mathews and 55 hodges & few others really good dealers willing to work with you on pricing. And went back on Sunday and droped of 40 cards at SGC for grading price just to good to pass up and you save on the shipping to them.

Still has such bright colors too. Congrats on getting that for your PC. Never heard of Dave. I do not get into basketball.
