I only played Tekken until recently. Now I'm going back and playing fighters I've never played before like darkstalkers 3 and rival schools. I have a new appreciation for fighting games now.
If you didn't hold back, and you did an analysis of the entire set, we would watch, if you felt it was something you wanted to do for your content and your channel. You'd also be doing it for us. You don't have to go back if you don't want to, just keep that in mind.

You should look up sonic fox 13-0. It's some real hype mortal kombat x drama I stumbled upon. The match itself is flashy but that's not what ur gonna be watching for....trust me lmaoooo Edit:there's a whole lore behind it💀. Just some nice fighting game history

Advice to jmcrofts you viewers including me, like when you break down characters and core parts and how they work first then get to the fight. I like this because some characters i don't see much, i get to understand before i watch one of the gods pinned down in a corner like spiral. Spiral's idle is so badass. I absolutely love it. It's like she is moving all arms to hide the attack so it's hard to tell which movement is an actual hit (I know it probably has no real effect on the game but I think it's just cool)
You don't need to co-sign. Fact is that these kinds of tactics took more skill than the type of tactics today. It is really known back then that there were fighting game players and then there were MvC players. Just cause you could play a fighting game back then does NOT mean you could play a MvC game.
@@Gailardia_Galan This is true, i can understand however that most people who never played mvc2 Back in the day fail to understand how difficult playing this game at a high level really was, especially when you compare the execution barrier between this and lets say mvc3. both games have crazy movement, combos and really wild looking gameplay. However accomplishing these feats in mvc2 required more from a player. A player had to be able to conquer ant execution barrier that was way less lenient than whats in games today. Conquering this barrier is what made many hype moments memorable to this day. The exclusion of this is whats responsible for the majority of complaints made towards newer fighting games (complaints that include but are not limited to: frequent underwhelming fgc "moments" , dissatisfaction among a substantial portion of the fgc, and matches that are injected with "easy mode" gameplay/mechanics/combos/etc. which developers put into the game in order to generate artificial hype. Just look at evo moment 37, its not the bright sparkling animations, flashing colors, cool looking attacks that make this moment so memorable. Hell, the fact that this led to a comeback from a life deficit was only a small portion of what made this so hype. What really made it hype was the understanding that performing that parry was so mechanically difficult, and that the execution difficulty was multiplied several times over bc of the situation the players were in, the pressure the crowd placed on these players, along with several other factors. If performing that parry in 3S was simplified and given a wider window of leniency of a few frames (similar to the leniency in combos in sf5) no one would be talking about or even remember evo moment 37.

Cable is such a spagetti coded character, like damn, who thought making a frame 1 self loopable super was a good idea...i guess they weren't thinking at all.
They didnt they just overlooked how recovery animations were much shorter in the air and didnt think this was possible. Stuff Ryus Shinkuu Hadoken is actually faster than AHVB using the same TK trick he just cant bend the beam the hit multiple times. None of the top tier tactics were intentional from Flight canceling to Tri-jumps on down and they really expected everyone to just do basic air combos and win with Jill. The real thing that stands out is how the bottom 3rd or so characters cant even combo into a super reliably and how nerfed characters like Spiderman Wolverine and Chun Li were
@Xalpha23 Depends on how you count it. 1 frame here means 1 frame after activation, so it's blockable on reaction if you're not doing anything. 0 frame is instant
The loop is AHVB loop is a bug, not an intentional feature. It's because when cable finishes his AHVB, during cool down, he can drift through the air for a few frames. The direction he drifts in is based off of the direction he was going in when he triggered the super. To loop the AHVB, you have to do a tiger knee motion (you end your fireball facing diagonal-up instead of forward). Iirc cable does a tiny super jump the moment before the AHVB comes out if you do it right. Cable floats up at the end of the super, and that enables him to loop the super into itself. It is way harder than it sounds.

Man I played this game growing up but never knew about "high level" play. I saw these matches and never knew it was as technical as you explained. Im definitely gonna go watch the full matches now with a better understanding
This game was so catchy, drug dealers and a pimp was playing this at the arcades on the regular. I even heard death threats. Oh I used Spiral but this is one of my weakest games. I still loved it though except those unblock-able setups.
Yup, I used to get washed up at the Port Authorities arcade on 42nd Street back in 2000. Then Sanford and Justin Wong would come up from Chinatown Fare and wreck me in Cap vs Snk 2....good times

Can you do 3S Evo 2k2 Tokido vs. Justin Wong next? This was the first time a lot of people got to see the true potential of Urien and Aegis Reflector set ups on a big stage.

Absolutely GREAT analysis and break-down of the matches. Setting up the team comps, the character interactions, and the player history was all fantastic work that pays off greatly.
I really liked this. Most people would have probably just shown the set and the highlights, but you went above and beyond and showed both players teams, their gameplan, some backstory, and why air HVB is so good. I’d love to see more of these.

Man I wish analyses like these were available for MMA fights but hardly anyone has the knowledge or breakdown of what's going on to do them. But I'll take any breakdown of any crazy fighting game I can get my hands on.

This is a brilliant series to do -- For those in the gaming community that shy away from fighter games, these are great lessons on what they're all about. I find watching matches are more enjoyable if you actually understand what's going on. Same idea behind musicians enjoy watching musicians play music.
This is definitely awesome. I listen to Nofrillz and love hearing the old school tournaments . I just don't know what to search for and hype moments. I really don't know what's going on in marvel and your break down of the mechanics and why there's a hype moment is an excellent touch for this series. Pls don't stop making these, I really enjoy it. additional info about Cable's guard crush for those that care: In MvC2, you are allowed one action in the air per normal jump, and blocking is considered an action. So if you block Cable's jumping gun, then get out of block stun, then you can't block air hyper viper beam. However, if you EAT the jumping gun, and Cable does air hyper viper beam delayed as usual, you will then be able to block the viper beam. Cable's mixup here is to shoot gun and cancel into viper beam if they expect you to eat the gun. A true 50/50.
These videos are fantastic! Really love the format that you've taken on for these, especially since the moments you've covered have such an immense amount of information (both for the gameplay and the history) entrenched in each game. Iron Man Storm Sentinel free Infinite’s off Storm Anti Air, Storm to Sent DHC and having Storm second meant u could make it rain all damn game. I miss this era so much, everyone was unique in their own right. Lots of similar teams but all different in how they were played!

Played MvC1 a lot and was never fond of 3 characters per team (too hectic imo). However this way of enjoying a match is really nice. Like many have said before through you excellent explanation of characters an moves before the match I recognized the plays in the game. It's nice that you emphasize the playbacks on these plays as well to see the in-depth skills, especially because the quality kinda clutters the already busy screen.

I assume you have never played VSav. That game is full of spaghetti code. Anakaris isn't even a character.

This is a brilliant series to do -- For those in the gaming community that shy away from fighter games, these are great lessons on what they're all about. I find watching matches are more enjoyable if you actually understand what's going on. Same idea behind musicians enjoy watching musicians play music.
This is definitely awesome. I listen to Nofrillz and love hearing the old school tournaments . I just don't know what to search for and hype moments. I really don't know what's going on in marvel and your break down of the mechanics and why there's a hype moment is an excellent touch for this series. Pls don't stop making these, I really enjoy it. additional info about Cable's guard crush for those that care: In MvC2, you are allowed one action in the air per normal jump, and blocking is considered an action. So if you block Cable's jumping gun, then get out of block stun, then you can't block air hyper viper beam. However, if you EAT the jumping gun, and Cable does air hyper viper beam delayed as usual, you will then be able to block the viper beam. Cable's mixup here is to shoot gun and cancel into viper beam if they expect you to eat the gun. A true 50/50.

These videos are fantastic! Really love the format that you've taken on for these, especially since the moments you've covered have such an immense amount of information (both for the gameplay and the history) entrenched in each game. I think keeping the videos concise and encouraging people to watch the full match on their own is a great idea. Good stuff dude!

Iron Man Storm Sentinel free Infinite’s off Storm Anti Air, Storm to Sent DHC and having Storm second meant u could make it rain all damn game. I miss this era so much, everyone was unique in their own right. Lots of similar teams but all different in how they were played!

Played MvC1 a lot and was never fond of 3 characters per team (too hectic imo). However this way of enjoying a match is really nice. Like many have said before through you excellent explanation of characters an moves before the match I recognized the plays in the game. It's nice that you emphasize the playbacks on these plays as well to see the in-depth skills, especially because the quality kinda clutters the already busy screen.
