    I've had my XKR 2003 for 7 years now. Adamesh over axle pipes and straight thru tail pipes. All clear lenses fitted too, tho make sure you seal them properly. It doesnt make 5he look boy racer. Just alot tidier and neater. Lowered suspension at the rear makes for much less roll in the corners. Got a set of 20' rims with Montreal alloys. Mine is JGR too! Love the car, but, it takes alot of time to keep on top of maintenance. Spend hours with a toothbrush under the bonnet! 😎

      Jules Redeye 13 nice! Yes I love the Adamesh exhaust, just had it fitted and uploaded a video on it 👍 thanks for the advice about the other mods, all things I’d like to do probably and the Montreal wheels are my favourite on these! Very jealous 🤣👍

    After listening to, (and not liking) a lot of different exhaust systems, what ended up perfect for me was; I went with a borla center exhaust and had an exhaust shop run new pipe to the rear eliminating all the other mufflers. It makes wonderful tones, does not drone at all, in fact sounds almost stock at highway speed with cruise control, but make nice growls when you hit the gas. This is on a 97 xk8 convertible.

      @granblogismo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leo driscoll sounds good! I’m having my new exhaust fitted next week, it’s essentially the stock centre box with straight through pipes to the back, I’ll put a video up on here when done, hopefully it will sound ok!

    Currently debating forking out for the rust to be sorted on the underside of my XK8. I want to keep the thing long term so hoping it will last well afterwards.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HelloImDavid1000 yes I think a lot of XK8 owners are in the same position at the moment, as you can see in this video I have a couple of rust issues myself! In my opinion it’s worth it, I think these are great cars with styling that will outshine the newer models in years to come but there’s likely to be some expense in the meantime keeping them on the road!

      @granblogismo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harry Scott thanks for the recommendation! Just bought the Adamesh one though, doh! The paramount one looks like a better system but that’s reflected in the price, I’ll see how the Adamesh one performs and may go for a better system in the future if it’s not up to scratch 👍

  • @AndyK.1
    @AndyK.1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Think it was/is a uk requirement for reflectors in the side to be orange. That is the reason for them. You could get green tint spray. Several layers of that may look better than paint. But you know deep down its best left standard annoyingly. Regarding the front, don’t you have to cut off the large squares overriders. Where do you get these cheap exhausts from?

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andy Kirwan I’m sure you’re right that if there are reflectors then they should be orange but I’m wondering why they are even there for a uk spec car, you don’t see them on a Mercedes CL or BMW 8 series in uk trim, so I wonder if they are removed or made ‘opaque’ whether that would be fine?! Might be an interesting experiment but standard may look best as you suggest! The exhausts I mention are the Adamesh replacement rear sections that only replace half the exhaust, it costs about 400 pounds for (200-ish rear backbox replacement, 200-ish for over-axle sections) whereas I think a ‘proper’ full exhaust system would cost at least double that from what I’ve seen

    • @jacobstein7179
      @jacobstein7179 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      granblogismo I actually think the mesh grill ruins the look of the car. I’ve seen 6 piece kits which aren’t bad because they keep the original chrome bar and overriders, but in my opinion it’s still better without.

    can I ask whatbthe best year to buy the XKR 8 please?

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure! It depends what you’re looking for I think, the early cars will have the best investment potential but there were improvements made over the years of production to help reliability and performance. Cars after 2003 had a 4.2 litre engine and 6 speed transmission which are considered more reliable than the 4 litre cars (but the 4 litre can be upgraded to eliminate most of the issues) then from late 2004 cars got bigger bumpers, sill extensions, spoiler etc which some people like, some people don’t. My 2004 car (pre big bumper) has the 4.2 engine and more or less the cleaner look of the early cars (there was a minor facelift in 2000 which changed front fog and rear lights), hope that helps?

    Great review as always. If you were to buy another one or next generation ,would you choose a coupe over a convertible ?? Than you !!

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sputnik I’m more of a fan of coupes than convertibles in general so would probably go for another coupe, as for what model I would get.... I do really like the XK8 shape so would be tempted to get a ‘last of the line’ XKR or one of the next gen XKRs just to experience the performance! I would also be tempted to get an XJS or XJC V12, but obviously they are a less practical proposition given that they are quite a bit older!

    • @mrkongsimr
      @mrkongsimr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      granblogismo Thank you ,I just sold a beautiful XJS , so that’s why I’m not sure I want another Jag over a Benz or BMW !!

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sputnik yes tough decision, I’d quite like a 2003 (?!) or later SL as they have the folding hard top which makes it both coupe and convertible! The only problem with those is the dreaded air suspension which is £££ to fix properly (or so I’ve heard) might be worth it as a long term proposition though as it’s a nicer shape than the most modern incarnation so sorted ones are likely to appreciate in time maybe 🤔

    • @mrkongsimr
      @mrkongsimr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      granblogismo Its interesting you mention the SL ,for I have one and yes already fixed the suspension . The car I’m lusting after this moment is the 6 series BMW ,the last of the older or the new one . I like older one better ,but not perhaps vise to not get the new body .Take care !

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sputnik nice! Yes the 6 series is cool, the older ones have already reached classic status and the price tag that goes with it I’m assuming! New ones are probably a relative bargain? (I’ve not looked into it)

  • @48sydney
    @48sydney 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe you should have bought the XKR ? The drip you have is probably the aircon as it condenses water from the air.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alan Walker it depends on what you want from the car, the extra performance of the XKR is awesome but I’m more into the interior and the look of the car to justify the extra cost, plus as these cars age it becomes less about the performance in my opinion as compared to modern metal they are being left behind! But yeah I would like an XKR given the choice 🤣

    • @48sydney
      @48sydney 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@granblogismo To be honest when I was looking for another car I was looking at Aston Martin, but a guy who services them said that the XK was basically the same car but had less electrical faults.
