I've fished all my life but never tried fly fishing. My wife bought me a fly rod for Christmas last year and I was felling pretty daunted on how to start. Your videos, especially the 14 series on beginning fly fishing really helped me out. I went for the first time yesterday and after finally getting the hang of casting on water for the first time caught my first fish on a mosquito dry fly within just a few minutes. Thanks for all the videos you've posted they're the best out there IMO. No one else explains things so simply and easily that even a dope like me can understand.

Answer to the last question is excellent, it goes to the heart of how fish attack prey/bait/flies, etc... and gives one a better understanding on fishing strategies and technique.

What do you mean “turn over”? Wouldn’t thinner line allow a streamer to “turn” more easily?

when you plow through that many flies, how often do you add length to your tippet then? several times per fishing trip?

You can find where the leader stops tapering and tie on a tippet ring. Once you cut down to the tippet ring you'll know to add on more tippet

so almost every leader has 2 feet of tippet that is already on the leader.
