I have often wondered why so many of those great hymns were written so long ago and I have decided the writers must have had a thorough understanding of English grammar, English literature, and most importantly, were very knowledgeable in Bible doctrine.
A thorough understanding of The Word is needed, but as a songwriter, I can also testify that most importantly is being inspired by The Holy Spirit. He brings the anointing & the lyrics/melody simply flows from you.🙌🏾👼🏾🙏🏾
It probably had something to do with the view, at the time, of the purpose for music. Because some of these writers were dealing with illiterate people, they used music as teaching method. These days, much of the Christian music is written for entertainment or to motivate people to respond in a certain way.
@@marshab6330 Charles Wesley, like his brother John, was also a preacher of the Gospel. He penned many great hymns like the one we just heard so beautifully played. He may have been the most prolific hymn writer ever, or close to it. Fanny Crosby, throughout the 19th century wrote many hymns. Some say she was the most prolific hymn writer ever. She was blinded for life by bad medical care as a little girl. Fanny is quoted as saying if she had a chance to regain her sight she would say no because she wanted Jesus to be the first One see saw upon entering heaven. Whether she said that or not, when she died at 95, Jesus was the first One see saw.
Natalie, your dad must be extremely proud of the passion and desire that you have for the piano! As a fellow pianist I always find myself coming back to each of the renditions of these amazingly beloved and time tested hymns that you record, and the style you use.....ya truly put your heart and soul into expressing each of these blessed songs. Hearing you play them makes me want to join in on the pipe organ. The Lord has greatly blessed you many many times over and your style of playing would have made my late grandma proud. Well done Natalie, from all of us who are touched by the gift you have...thank you so much and please keep adding more and more of these sacred hymns.
Just what we need in a turbulent world! Peace to you all in the days to come! Our prayers are with all the struggling families that are dealing with the storm ravaged communities and loss of life.
Wow, added lyrics, a first. 😊 What an ambitious couple. Natalie, rolling the ivory’s, Josh typing the lyrics and sweet baby enjoying mommy performance and daddy’s leadership. Glenda Austin plays a few hymns without live impromptu requests. Howard Smith Jr plays songs from prior requests. All three of you play the traditional hymns. So glad to hear them coming back to popularity. The Lord bless, protect & guide your paths! 🎹 💫 ✝️
One of my favorite hymns and you played it so beautifully as you do every hymn. Your whole family including your grandparents are truly blesses with the gift of music.

Thank you for making my Sunday night very special with that lovely arrangement of my favorite him along with the words. I live listening to you play on Sundays but wondered when you would be able to use the technology to put the words so I could see. them along with the beautiful piano playing. and tonight you did it. Please see if it can continue.
We aren't able to do that for the live request sessions, because we take spontaneous requests from the audience, but we have lots of lyric videos on the channel! :)
Played this tonight thursd thanks for this hymn and caniy t and can it be it sa night aug21 2021 for part of relaxation before bed togther with Red back Hymnal Vol10 aAnd can it be it sure can thanks and god bless your this hymn
When I was a kid, my mom would constantly sing this, and it got to the point where I wanted to cover my ears and shout, "Torture! Torture!" (That's something my goddaughter does when my husband--who happens to be her godfather--does one of his character voices for her, namely his impression of Fernando from FULLER HOUSE.)
William Cowper had previous tried to kill himself, such was his despair in wrestling with sin, realising the forgiveness of God he then wrote the words to this great hymn.
I may have sung Amazing love how can it be that thou my God should die for me, really loud you’ll have to ask my neighbours I’ll neither confirm or deny.
