In this song, Charles Wesley takes us from the throne room of God (the ark of the covenant in the holy of holies), to the reason Christ came into this world, to Mr. Wesley's personal experience of the divine when his "chains" fell off and he received salvation, to the articulation of his mission to go forth and live as Christ called him to live, to his passion to do so, and his life beyond this world in eternity, face to face with the God who called him to it all. What an amazing hymn that genuinely reflects an amazing spiritual journey! There is simply no other that compares.
