    Regarding the balance test: DJI's balance test used to be upright without tilt, only recently they recommend tilting the gimbal, but I've never found a difference ether way. You can also tell if you're balanced well without the balance test in the app: if the gimbal can hold the camera in place when the power is off, like I show early in the video, and also the balance video at th-cam.com/video/DSvoGRO5xK8/w-d-xo.html then you have good balance.

    Thank you Nathan for being the only person online that is using the new app! It's very different from the older version. And, I also had the same issues. No matter the firm update, calibration, ninja walks or the moon and sun being aligned I could'nt get smooth footage. Its frustrating when you see a person on a snow board filming their friend going off jumps but I can't get smooth footage walking like a ninja in a perfectly level/stable house. I didn't know you can go back to old versions of firmware. UPDATE: Going to the previous firmware you mentioned helped get rid of 90% of the shake. It no longer looks like Im riding a camel when recording.

I sent it in the DJI at least 7 times trying to explain the shaking issue and each time they told me it was fine. It wasn't until I found your video that I became aware of the firmware issue. I updated/downgraded it to the firmware you are using and walla! no more shake. I have a real estate shoot coming up on Tuesday. So you save me. I'm a happy subscriber now. Thanks for the help!

    You are a legend for this!! I've had the ronin-s for over a year now and have done all kinds of shoots and no matter how perfectly balanced, how much I auto-tuned, or even tried to set the motor parameters myself nothing fixed that micro-jitter issue. I've had to use warp stabilizer almost exclusively or the footage is unusable. With countless hours of reading forums and seeing that nearly everyone was having this problem, I knew it couldn't be human error. This the first time I'm actually happy to have this gimbal, I still can't believe how much smoother it is. DJI needs to completely overhaul their firmware updates, I just bought the SC because I had given up on the S and now I'm wondering if the firmware updates have ruined that gimbal also smh.

    Hello Nathan. For the balance test, shouldn't the gimbal be tilted over 15 degrees to one side?

      DJI's balance test used to be stationary without tilt, only recently they recommend tilting the gimbal, but I've never found a difference ether way. You can also tell if you're balanced well without the balance test in the app: if the gimbal can hold the camera in place when the power is off, like I show early in the video, and also the balance video at th-cam.com/video/DSvoGRO5xK8/w-d-xo.html then you have good balance.

    Not so long ago I bought a Z5, inspired by your experience. I shoot spherical panoramas and have a question regarding the gimbal. Have you tried finding a way to align the nodal point of the lens with the axis of rotation of the gimbal in order to use the gimbal as a motorized rotator? Is it physically possible? Can you balance the camera on the gimbal? Thank you!

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. That would be awesome if it could work, but it's just as easy...and more accurate...to use a pano head with a fisheye lens. Here are some links for what I'd recommend for your Z5:
      1. FTZii adapter: amzn.to/3UHi7dq
      2. Fisheye lens: amzn.to/3W1ZiTg
      3. Pano head: amzn.to/3FhtH9l
      4. My guide on virtual tour photography: amzn.to/3uFyGvH

    • @Vitochernov
      @Vitochernov ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NathanCoolPhoto Thanks sir for your recommendation! I bought several of the cheapest panoramic heads at once for another 3 years (which is about $ 100) and to my surprise one of them was never taken out of the box, because the first panoramic head works perfectly and is fully functional. As for the fisheye lens, I ordered a TTartisan 11mm for Nikon Z for $215 and just love its detail, and the ability to use it without an FTZ adapter is very convenient! For ultra fine detail panoramas, I use my Nikkor Z 24-120 S f4 lens to do 3 circles of 11 frames at 0°/-30°/+30°/zenith/nadir and get ultra fine detail. But spinning 30+ frames, especially in the case of a large number of panoramas, is sometimes very time consuming and I keep thinking about how to automate this process. And if it's possible to do this with a DJI gimbal, that would really be great!

    • @Vitochernov
      @Vitochernov ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about installing a smallrig cage on my z5 in order to mount the camera vertically, take an additional mount rail to move the rotation axis to the beginning of the lens, and also attach something as a counterweight to the gimbal. Do you think the experiment is worth spending time on this?

      If you were not seeing any problems with the newer version then I'm not sure why you'd want to change it. If you are getting smooth footage with a version, then you may be OK. In any case, run a test with 2.4.1.30, and then another with 1.8.0.70 using the same movements in the same room/area. HOWEVER...each time you change firmware versions make sure to perform an Autotune on the gimbal...this is a critical step after changing any firmware version.
