Theyve made the aflw ball heavier this year. Has made a huge difference in the abilty to kick distance and quality of kicking

geez why would they make it heavier. needs to be lighter and they should actually make the field smaller really.

Because if its lighter the ball floats and doesnt travel as far. Making it slightly heavier has made it more aerodynamic

I believe selling games to WA is about staying out of debt

North has a massive supporter base in WA. Before the Eagles and Dockers came into the comp, they all followed players like Schimmelbusch, Glendenning and barracked for North.
I lived there for 5 years. There was a car getting around Perth with Carey on the bonnet and Archer and Stevens on the doors. This was 2010🤣
Our problem is Defense if you look at for and against. Points for 1619 against 2550. We leak more goals than any other team. Our points for was just a little better than Richmond and the Eagles.
Lazarro was rated one of the worst footballers in the comp based of stats and his emergency games.

North always had a big fan base, but they more in the 60s now. Essendon and Hawks have big fan base too, amongst the 20 to 50 year olds. Because in Perth prior to Eagles, you just barracked for a club that was successful and those clubs did well in the late 70s, into 80s and early 90s. Carlton is another one for same reason. Recently, I've noticed young people barracking for Collingwood.

The North girls also defeated Brisbane, Melbourne, and Richmond this season. The only Top 8 sides they haven’t played are Freo and Hawthorn, but not all fixtures are equal in an 11 match season, so I’d confidently say they’ve proven themselves against the major threats. 40+ on Brisbane was huge. Hopefully they can replicate this success in the finals now!

More chance of growing North's identity in Perth than in an over saturated Melbourne. And just because we're profitable doesn't mean you rest on your laurels, you always need to be increasing revenue and growing your brand.

I think North lack a long term strategy that they commit to. Bulldogs changed their name and embraced the west. Then wisely play matches at Ballarat, which they could grow further. That's allowing them to compete better with Essendon and Geelong who traditionally dominated the west part of the city and west part of state respectively.

North really need to develop an area of growth within Melbourne and Victoria. Because there aren''t zones anymore it won't necessarily convince people to support North, but it would help. I reckon they need to move into the northern growth suburbs and money from local govt for shared facility and rec centre arrangement. The investment by North would be minimal. Surely the AFL would contribute significantly, if North was winning over an area that is pro soccer and rugby. North could get their players on billboards and sell themselves to community groups etc. Nowadays many people wouldn't even know what AFL is, so the opportunity is there. Then you have the advantage of pushing into Bendigo too as a preseason training base every year. I feel North in the past have struggled to have a vision and stick with it. That's why clubs like Bulldogs and Hawks have had a strategy and build their fan base. In the current environment with unfair fixturing of some clubs with blockbusters and clearly a media favouring some clubs with profile and exposure, North is going to have to think outside the box to grab attention and fans. Thse fans may need to come from the non AFL marketplace.

I reckon former North U/19s player Eddie McGuire was actually right about how North need to push into the fringes and win over the non football fans. If there is a chance to build the code support and North look like they mean it, then AFL will chip in. North should have total control of visiting all the schools in the outer suburbs. There can be good arrangments. Freo Dockers got a basic training base and rec centre built them for to drag them out of freo. The local govt of Cockburn really got on board.

Agreed! We've played everywhere man, we've played everywhere... though never enough at home. Maybe we do a deal with Hawthorn at their new stadium and attract followers from the ever expanding SE Melbourne. At least Hawks have a plan B, post Tassie and a home in the heartland of AFL. Let's join them, or possibly perish!

North has just lacked a strategy and haven't committed each time they've moved interstate. Even Tasmania was just poorly done, its as if they were forced into Hobart, compared to Hawks approach in Launceston.

Its a harsh comment but I used to stir up a mate by calling them Northeroos and then Nowhereroos. Element of truth. They just need to commit to the northern part of outer melb and state.

The womans team are beating other top teams and convincingly so, definitely our premiership to lose.
I like Lazzaro too but couldn't produce when it counted. I think Harvey got a contract because of he's injuries, similar to George, show him some faith. Now needs to deliver.
I agree, I would prefer not to have home games all over the place. But I am a little concerned that Melbourne is too diluted. Hard to gauge what our normal crowd and member numbers are when we aren't hot garbage and weather 11-12 home games will improve that a lot. Not saying it won't but the selling of games could have a greater effect.
Personally, I think it would be cool to build Arden st oval up again to seat 25k, a smaller stadium full is better than a large stadium half full.

The guy is right about moving into Bendigo, but his vision is too typically north... "go there for a 4-5 years and get 8000 members". North needs to firstly have the strategy. To become the club in regional areas north of Melbourne. Then firstly play practice matches there (Bendigo?) while the ground is being updated with govt funding. Train there for periods preseason and have community sessions for locals. Connect. Do it every year for 20 years! Then in 3 years Bendigo for example is ready and you start with 2 home matches there a year, plus the practice matches, plus AFLW, plus preseason training and community sessions. People in the north area of regional Victoria then start to develop a feeling for the team that plays and contributes in the community. They become the only team that visits the schools in all the areas in the regions. They own it. But if you move into an area regionally for a few home matches a year, you can't suddenly desert the area. That lacks credibility and the locals see right through it.

Talk is that North play a Home match at Hands Oval. The crowd capacity would be low. But the advantage is that the State govt will pump in money to get North fans in Perth and travelling in the south west of WA. So becomes a tourism focus for the govt.. Hands oval would struggle to get 10k in. So if they wanted tourists in then they'd need to keep the Eagles/Dockers fans away. It would have to be North members first. It stops the Eagles flying. Then of course the other option is 2 matches at Optus Stadium where the Eagles and Dockers fan turn up to watch. Then the clubs and Stadium mainly put the money up with less govt funds. Eagles and Dockers more of a home ground advantage. At Hands oval its 50/50. Food for thought.

I think North AFLW team has been very good even without Emma Kearney. Adelaide, I felt were going to be a challenge before the game but we came through that challenge with flying colours. As for North's WA proposal to play a couple of home games in Perth ,I'm not sure but having said that North do have a big supporter base in Perth. Loving Marnie's new hairdo looks very pretty .

If Northeroos play 2 home matches and 2 away matches in WA then its a great idea. 4 games in Perth and a chance to win more support. Heck they could even end up relocating to Perth and ensure long term prosperity and success. Sorry tongue in cheek.

If we get the Hawks in the grand final (absolutely no way they make it that far) it'll be an absolute pasting. I'd much rather get them than Brisbane or Adelaide.

I have said for a long time that North have been struggling financially, Ive had North supporters argue they are doing well, well this confirms it, going to play games in Perth. The club is basket case financially and has been for a very long time. Too many supporters and board members in denial about it. Very poorly run club.

Only a threat if we don't give them due respect. We have to earn every final victory and simply want it more. We cannot relax, based on good form. Qtr 4 in last year's GF needs revisiting, the hurt, how close, what it costs to get there.
