We love Norwich. We have a share in a boat on the Norfolk Broads and can cruise right into Norwich. The ‘yacht station’ as it is still called is just down hill from the Cathedral. Our favourite restaurant is Shikki, a Japanese restaurant in the area called tombhill near the cathedral.

Ooh I’ll have to try it. I normally get distracted by the Korean ones down the road from the theatre.

My how your lovely kids are growing up! I grew up in this area and we always used to run into the sea although these days, I would find it perishing. But clearly no sense of feeling for us as kids. Great to see you all having fun.

I lived and worked in Norwich for many years and I really miss it, especially the Market. Fantastic city that I came to know inside out with so much going for it, but things change and I had to move on. 😢
Glad you enjoyed it too. Loved seeing your babies on the beach at Brancaster. 😍 Not exactly tropical, but it is the North Sea! 🥶

Next time you’re in Norfolk, try Holkham beach (in North Norfolk). However, please try to check online when high tide is expected, just for you and your family safety.

I can't remember if you have been to Canterbury in Kent or not, but I think Norwich has a very similar vibe to there - both cathedral market cities. I haven't been to Norwich in ages - when I was teenager dragged to Norfolk on holiday a lot(!) I looked forward to visits there for the vintage shops. This is making me want to return. If you're staying in East Anglia for a bit, I recommend going down the coast to Suffolk for the very bouji seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold, or just really exploring the North Norfolk coast which has multiple great beaches - all sandy, which is not always guaranteed in the UK!

The ‘tilted’ building and the Alleyway it’s in are reputedly haunted.
Norwich Castle is a very old Norman Mott & Bailey castle, it’s been refaced over the years making it look newer, well worth a visit once it reopens fully.

You clicked there with the comparison with Gloucester, York and Lincoln. All English county towns. 3 of them are Roman originally. All serving a common function down through the middle ages. (Also the name 'Brancaster', suggests a Roman camp or fort).

This is not a criticism, but an observation about one of the many differences between British English and American English.
In the UK, generally, when a geographic location proper noun is attached to a specific related noun, we do not add the definite article, because the location takes precedence. In American English the definite article is added as if the object noun takes precedence. Let me explain.
In British English we would "visit Norwich market" because the two words act as a single location. You wouldn't say "I am visiting The Norwich".
In American English you say you are visiting "the Norwich market" because the two word combination stresses the importance of the market rather than the geographical location. "The Norwich market" serves as shorthand for "the market that is held in Norwich" You wouldn't say "I visited market" because "market" is not a proper noun.
It's not a big deal, it's just something I only just noticed between our two grammars.
So when I watch other US vloggers I will understand why they say "The London bridge" rather than London bridge, or "The York Minster" instead of York Minster.
Well, I thought it was an interesting observation.
Thanks for anther great video and for showing me parts of my own country that I have never got (or should I say gotten) around to visiting.🤟

Isnt it odd how sometimes we go to a place weve never been before and feel like its home,or potentially could be. If you are ever venturing to the west country youd LOVE Wells Cathedral in Somerset, and Glastonbury Tor is not far away.
