I was 15 when gta3 came out. Played it for a year straight. Over and over. I was always obsessed with the commercials, they had such dystopian tone. Look at where we are today in the world. These commercials were literally telling us the future.
100% no one saw how ironically correct these would be
GTA 3 was such a fun creation, and revolutionized the sandbox template that so many games have utilized since. I love the preposterous sense of humour in the game, exemplified beautifully by its radio advertisements. Gaming gold.

Yeah but don't forget Shenmue for Dreamcast was the first true sandbox game.
I loved this game so much and then someone wrote Multi theft Auto so we could play online together.

After 22 years we finally got the Maibatsu Monstrosity. Glad I stuck around for this historical event.
Monstrosity or MonstroCity? I guess the one from this radio ad was based on full-size Mitsubishi Pajero.
Anyway, they should also add Maibatsu Thunder, Maibatsu Womb and Imponte Insurrection Turbo XRZ5 X-2.
12 years later... some of the voice actors here are still heard in commercials in GTA 5 like the Eris spokesperson and the Liberty City survivor guy
And Fernando Martinez has his own talk show on Talk Radio

I remember before I played GTA 3 hearing the maibatsu monstrosity commercial on an actual radio station. I was like wtf kind of car is this?! The advertising was also so surreal. And at the end of the ad, it's gta 3. This was indeed a brilliant marketing strategy

i love that now i can turn on subtitles to this and now get what these commercials were about.
I swear the guy's accent at 1:38 just kills me: "Virtual Reality POKAH!" For as early and primitive as these ads were they really starting to hit the target even early. The Survivor ad and Fernando's bit is just hilarious as they were when I was 11; as well as the kids in the factory bit; that one's dark as hell still. They hit their stride on Vice City but there's some gold here as well.
I think that is Lazlow who voices that guy on that part of the advert
When this game came out barely anyone owned a mobile phone. And if they did, it sure wasn't a smart phone as they didn't exist to the public yet. GTA 3 was WAY ahead of its time.
