Overwatch 2 deserved a spot on this list for 3 reasons: 1, The monetization is horrendous. People are wanting LOOT BOXES back. Currency is not in the season pass and new heroes are deliberately strong. Paying grants immediate access. 2, It's a less rewarding game. They removed the systems that worked in the first game and replaced it with a mundane progression system. 3, It is not fun anymore. The game is nothing but lessons through frustration. It lost it's magic going to a 5v5 format and the game continues to lose it's identity patch by patch.
Super Mario Kart is a wonderful game, but the prices for things like gems is outrageous. Add to that the slow steady nerfing as they no longer support the game & any new original content as it heads toward discontinuation. There used to be a nice fresh variety, but now it's just a few tracks with a few annoyingly repetitive variations per tour. One of the most fun ways to get good stuff used to be the green coin store. Getting the coins was a great secondary objective that I used to spend extra time & effort on every week. Now it's not worth it at all. Every OTHER tour they have pretty good rewards (but nothing like they used to have) but the off tour all you really have are green pipes which are nearly worthless. Things are getting worse all the time. New players are at such a disadvantage, it's impossible to be even a little competitive. Worst of all is they seem to be slowly making the AI players harder & making it where you get hit a LOT more often. You can tell they are trying to make people quit. I used to get the Gold Pass even though I hate PTW, but it was a reasonable flat fee of $5 per month for better loot & benefits. Then they started taking out some of the gold level loot so now even it is pointless. This is a really fun game to play. It's a shame they have abandoned it for corporate greed.
Fun fact: There actually is an ending for Candy Crush. If you get to the final level before more get added, you’ll get a screen that takes you to a tournament with other players.
The 2 worse things that ever happened in the gaming industry was: 1) Companies realized that people would give them even more money so they can be better than other people. 2) Developers realized that players would still play incomplete games and they could fix issues or add content later.......probably......maybe
I wouldnt say "RUINED video games". It's normal for free mobile games, they gotta make money somehow. But pay-to win on a game you alrady pay to play, is disgusting.
One of the worst parts about pay to win games like NBA 2k18 is that some gamers will defend them because "games are expensive to make" but then you look at footage of the games and they have literal sponsorships. So no, they don't need the pay to win mechanics to make their development costs back.
Maplestory felt rigged from the start. I played it back in the early 2000's and gave up on it around 2010. Hated spending days grinding just to level up once.
There was this MLP mobile game that was very similar to the simpsons one where you had to unlock characters, and then you would get in-game currency to unlock more characters. But if you paid actual money, you got characters that would give more in-game currency. But the game also liked to crash and lose all your progress, and I uninstalled the game
Speaking of crashes, I remember when most of the 1* ratings on the App Store were just people complaining about crashes. Yet, I've barely had any crashes and is mainly due to how the early era of gacha games required even newer iPhones. Brave Frontier used to state 1GB of RAM/iPhone 5 or newer was required to play the game with optimal performance.
I thought about this one too, I remember being given a mission to unlock a character and thinking "I can pay to do it now, or I can grind for six months."
WOHHH the ONLY way Warframe makes this this list is if you don't have the patience to play the game because Warframe is by far the BEST example of F2P done Right! OK yeah you basically have to buy Warframe & Weapon slots but you CAN get them for free & come on... outside of that literally EVERYTHING ELSE INCLUDING STORY IS FREE! & the game does give you discounts & even platinum bonuses when buying platinum.
I'm a frame guy but if anyone picks it up now, the amount of work ahead of them is inhumane... UNLESS they spend a bit... So I can totally see it on this list, regardless of how cool the devs are.
You can also just trade people mods and blueprints for the platinum so you don't even have to spend a dime on the game to get it's premium currency. It's been a little while but last time I played Warframe I had around 3000 platinum from selling Riven mods and farming blueprints from void relics.
@@McNugget_Buddy Again, that takes a lot of time, specially to grab stuff people consider valuable, and it also takes time to sit in Trading chat trying to sell. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it takes an inordinate amount of TIME, the only resource nobody ever gets back.
That's why on Candy Crush, I save as many gold bars and special candies as possible. I really don't have the money to pay for any of the perks (nor do I need them).

Warframe skins are cosmetic tho unless that's been changed. You can't buy anything in game that makes your character stronger so I wouldn't count Warframe P2W unless it changed in the two years I've stopped playing.
Pay for progress is pay to win. You can straight up pay $80 to unlock brand new primes when they come out or grind relics to get the parts then wait 24 hours for each part for 4 parts to then wait 3 full days to craft the frame. So yes its pay to win
@@TastyMango225 its not even pvp and the only pvp aspect of the game isn’t even affected by that. So you could buy prime access to skip a grind but that’s all you’d be doing and the grind is pretty much the point of the game
The Doom Shotgun is a re-skinned Lockwood shotgun, the same shotgun that has pretty high base range by itself already, this wasn't some secret shotgun that could snipe you from crazy distances, this isn't the KSG from Black Ops 2. People truly have misinterpreted what "Pay-To-Win," actually means, the same rule applies to other gun bundles.
They do know, they said it was pay to win because you could pay to unlock guns with attachments before you were high enough level to unlock them for free.
@@TastyMango225 In that way I suppose makes sense, what isn't true though is buying X bundle and somehow the weapon is overpowered. That simply isn't true, you are able to examine the weapon & it's attachments, and then put them on as your own, without having spent a penny, nobody wants to work to unlock anything anymore.
@@TastyMango225 The setup is far from the best for that gun, and it takes the whole of an hour(MAYBE) to level up the gun. You also can't change attachments on that variant, so you can't get the best setup for it even if you have it leveled. I hate Midern Borefare II, but it ain't pay to win in the slightest.
Soulcalibur: Lost Swords is my pick. I’m ashamed that I actually invested some money in that one. Glad that it’s no longer playable so that i can put that behind me.

I will shamelessly admit that I take breaks from the game and when I return if I see a weapon/frame prime drop that I like I will hit the trade market and shell out the plats. Do you NEED primes to succeed in this game? No, not in the slightest. There's a chunk of weapons and frames that don't require a grid fest and mods drop at a reaonable rate that you can best the game

I remember hearing in Diablo Immortal that character progression is divided per class. Not only does it want you to pay an absorbiant amount to get stronger but if you want to try something else you need to start from scratch and start paying all over again.
I'd disagree with Warframe being "Pay to win" basically the only things that you *HAVE TO* Pay for with real money are cosmetic items mostly that are just colour pallets. Everything else though you're able to get with the loot in game
Yeah but that isn't the definition of pay to win. Pay to win is defined as just the ability to pay to beat out other players or the game. Which you 100% are heavily able to do and in order to skip the horrendous wait times or RNG for things like prime parts. You are encouraged to do.
#11 - I was one of the few who got really sucked into that one. You HAD to spend in order to even have a chance at placing top 10 in the leaderboard by the end of an event in order to win a once-in-an-event exclusive 4* Tier1 aircraft that had boosted stats, which you can use to have a slight edge in the next and upcoming events. The campaign didn't even have a real ending, you just beat like one boss a 2nd time and it was left at a cliffhanger. This game was essentially their cash cow in order to fund their AC7 project.
Calling Warframe's monetization "shady" b/c you have to grind for the things you want is ridiculous. The premium currency in the game is easily obtainable, allows for a plethora of ways to get it, and there's so much to do in the game if you ever grind for dozens of hours it's b/c you're playing it wrong or you're at the end game after playing for thousands of hours. FFS some of ya'll just want everything for free and can't imagine why a company has to charge customers for stuff.
respect.. heaven forbid someone would actually have to play the game in order to unlock something in game, but everyone just wants the short road instead of putting in the effort.. time and effort is the essence of Warframe
Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet but Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War from JoyCity DEFINITELY should be on this list. It will cost you between $600-$9000 to level up, depending on what you're leveling up from.
*I remember playing "The Simpsons: Tapped Out." I didn't pay for it often, but I had to quit because there were too many damn characters to keep track of and keep doing tasks!*
Also, #5 - the DMZ mode in its Warzone 2 application had bundles which you could buy that gives you one advantageous edge per character slot. You could buy an operator that will always start with a Medium sized backpack, or one that always starts with a Self-Revive, or one that will always start with a UAV killstreak in your slot for radar.
My mother loves playing Candy Crush. Whenever I sneak off with her phone and plays I always get stuck at this one level and I'm like: "there's no way you can play and win for free!"
Mario Kart Tour changed a bit its gacha system, so you don't rely on luck to get pilots, cars of wings. However, it is worth noticing that the elements that are better and "rarer" (or mega-singular, as they are called in the game) are nowadays the vast majority.
PvZ 2 should of made the list. The game didn't start out as pay to win, but when EA wanted to make it pay to win in 2018 they fired the devloper of the game who was hesitant on the idea.

You are 100% wrong about Warframe, all items are extremely easy to acquire through trade, or god forbid you actually play the game, and I definitely would’ve added Marvel Strike Force, that game you couldn’t play without dumping cash if you wanted to compete

It's the nba 2k series that's pay to win. The games start you at 60 overall. It's going to cost more than 100 dollars just to get 80 overall plus. This counts towards having an advantage against other people in the park and against the computer in nba games
Woah Woah Woah! Buying gold on occasion won't hurt in Marvel Snap, but it is a pretty F2P Friendly Game. The Spotlight Keys are pretty useful for card acquisition if you can save them, the season pass is great value to buy every now and then and Collectors tokens aren't as rare as you might think. Don't let that put you off the best Mobile Game ever!
Jurassic World Alive is up there. BIG TIME! Definitely one of those “grinds barely matter” & “be prepared to lose to players who have dropped hundred of dollars”. Boosts, evolutions, coins, etc, this game is relentlessly impossible to advance and enjoys keeping the players looking for a pastime in their place.
Where in gods name is Star Wars galaxy of heroes? If you want a galactic legend (which you pretty much need to compete) you have to collect 16 characters and almost maximize them. If you have none of these characters, they can cost up to 3-400 dollars just to unlock. That doesn’t even count gear which could be between 100-200 dollars. You would also need mods. Which if you have none could cost like 50 dollars. Plus other materials that would factor in like zetas. And you have to do that for 16 character. Just to unlock 1 character. And than you have to put gear, mods, level up, zetas. A galactic legend, if you want to unlock it when you start playing could cost up to 10 grande. And there are 8 galactic legends in the game 😂 Edit: I completely forgot about relics. Which would probably cost 1-200 dollars per character. So add 3 grand more.
Damn, Genshin Impact dodged the list? I suppose it's mostly a single-player game without much endgame/high level content. But you still have to spend thousands of dollars to upgrade characters to their highest achievable power Pokemon GO is also an offender when it comes to pay-to-win. Incubators, premium raid passes, premium rewards in PvP etc.
Star Trek Online is made by the same company who made Neverwinter. Both games require people to buy coins called Z-coins to go to the Z-Store in order to buy better equipment, hence the reason why I hardly play Star Trek Online due to enemies being able to destroy me with ease because the devs decided to have their level higher than mine (the highest level in the game is 65).
STO is now owned by DECA Games, a German based company. however their parent company is Embracer Group, formerly known as Nordic Games/ THQ Nordic. However, back in 2021 they acquired Cryptic Studios from Perfect World. Perfect World are a Chinese ownd company who bought Cryptic Studios from Atari. Never trust anything owned by Chinese companies because you never know where your information was going to, which is why they dropped it in 2021 because the pressure started being applied when it came to the information of the users going to the wrong people.
Why tf do I only remember Angry Birds GO for giving you ads if you wanted to get something that was out of your price range with the world’s gems, and not this shit where you have to cough up 120 dollars for a single kart?
When you're doing a "worst game," make sure it's the most current version instead of the Day 1 version. This mainly applies to Mario Kart Tour and Angry Birds Go. Both of them had significant changes from their current iteration. As a side note, there was not a single Gacha Game that changes the meta after every new hero added or a Hero Team Builder like Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes or Looney Tunes World of Mayhem.

There are many games that I probably haven't even heard of that would deserve to go on that list more than some of the ones on there, but one I do know about that I would put on there (if it's still running) is Last Chaos, there are massive levels of upgrades that are only available through the Item Shop (they can be sold in-game, but you'd have to farm for weeks to be able to buy even one of the lower upgrades), and I don't know if it still exists in the game, as I haven't played in several years, but there was a chance that you could spend real money in the game and unintentionally DOWNGRADE your equipment with bad RNG.

Gears of War 5. The line may be blurred with this one, so I’m open to legitimate criticism on this. Gears of War 5 had this system where you could buy 2 XP boosts using in game currency which you could use to rank up faster, or buy exclusive skins from the store. The reason I’m torn on this is because yes it does help you rank up faster in game, but it doesn’t give you things like overpowered weapons or give you insane perks in PVP. It’s mostly cosmetic things. Again, I’m open to other opinions on this.
All the Bravest was definitely a rage generator. There was all this hype for it before it came out, and fans were easily willing to pay the initial $2.99 fee to download it from the App Store. Then - timers? Microtransactions? I think that was the first time we had seen that sort of thing in a game that _wasn’t_ free-to-play, and the fans were like, WTF, Squeenix?
I am playing Diablo Immortal as Free2play Player. Top 25 Player here in PVP Battleground. Rite of the Exile is paytowin the rest is just fine. You were wrong about the game. Game has been improved.
Honestly tho, the fact that both MW2 (2022) and MW3 (2023) focus more on cosmetics than fixing the actual game itself is just BS. There should be a list of all the BS Activision and the CoD devs have done that has pissed off the community that they still refuse to fix.
For a game not many will know and something that isn't a mobile game with real time waiting periods, there's a game called Freestyle Basketball. Primarily, Freestyle Basketball 2. While a lot of that game can be played and won against real players without a single dime for a free game, it doesn't help that a lot of improving characters you have or getting better characters mostly required buying them when they come out or wait half a year for them to become available in limited capacity in a free event. Even getting some of the best items for free doesn't help since a lot of the stats for characters comes down to luck of the draw
I was totally expecting Genshin Impact and/or Fire Emblem Heroes. Dont get me wrong, i fucking love those games, but my god do those games want your money.
Im shocked Middle Earth Shadow of War is not on this list. Its a single player game yet to get to the final ending youll need to go on a 40+ hr loot box grind fest or pay money to get an army of orcs needed to beat the game. Hopefully it got patched but still loot boxes are bullshit.
They removed that mechanic along with the store like less than 6 months after implementing it. Why? No idea. My guess, people found a way to exploit the free chests countless times which could also spawn pretty good orcs when you have over 1k chests, making the premium chests worthless. Granted, you'd need to trash a bunch of orcs.....This worked across all platforms and was impossible to patch out. That's my theory at least. Could be completely wrong on why they removed it.

Don't Forge of Empires and Evony have a mechanic where you can be attacked and plundered when you aren't playing unless you pay for protection? So unless you play 24/7 you can get wiped out unless you pay real $.
The fact that Warframe even made this list is outrageous. It is grindy indeed, but no, you won't be anywhere near dozens upon dozens of hours to get a new frame. I love Mojo, but this one made me question their judgment.
I have to disagree about EA Battlefront 2. Not about the pay to win in the early days, but about the changes that EA did that removed it. Non of those changes were voluntary, EA was sued in other parts of the world because it. EA was forced to remove those features

Halo 4 shouldve been on here. The times when you could buy loot boxes to get epic power weapons and vehicles was absolutely abysmal. A terrible player could have a fighting chance against the best of players soley because they could pay to spawn with the best weapons in the game
Without a doubt...Angry Birds 2. Once heralded as the greatest free game on the planet, but greed and deceit ruined the popular franchise. Things started going downhill but then Segasa purchased the company and flat out robbed the loyal gamers. First and foremost, the eternal daily gems which costed a huge $129.99 one time fee was simply discontinued without any notice or compensation which basically just gave a big middle finger to everyone. A class action lawsuit is still ongoing. Reduced awards , multiple game freezing, unfair bot arenas, viral boycott, and zero game support team all lead to the soon ultimate demise of this legendary game. R.I.P.
I havent played most of these games, but i do play Diablo Immortal and I can say its not pay-to-win if you just want to have fun, play the story, and beat the game (which I have) I dont play PVP in any game, so that might be a different matter.
EA's NHL franchise should be number one by a mile! It has stuff you can only earn by spending actual money (microtransactions), AND is absolutely disgracefully bad as a game. Achievements disappear, game modes break, etc. You can pay for stuff, get it, have it disappear, and EA won't respond. I've been playing the franchise for over 40 YEARS, and it hasn't really been playable in over a decade, but it's all we have, and they know that.
This pay-to-win mechanic made the gaming industry sucks... This is why most gamers missed the old games where skills are important. Now bunch of games has DLC's where back in the days you can unlock some hidden / side quests after completing some quests in the story mode.

You can also just trade people mods and blueprints for the platinum so you don't even have to spend a dime on the game to get it's premium currency. It's been a little while but last time I played Warframe I had around 3000 platinum from selling Riven mods and farming blueprints from void relics.
@@McNugget_Buddy Again, that takes a lot of time, specially to grab stuff people consider valuable, and it also takes time to sit in Trading chat trying to sell. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it takes an inordinate amount of TIME, the only resource nobody ever gets back.
That's why on Candy Crush, I save as many gold bars and special candies as possible. I really don't have the money to pay for any of the perks (nor do I need them).

Warframe skins are cosmetic tho unless that's been changed. You can't buy anything in game that makes your character stronger so I wouldn't count Warframe P2W unless it changed in the two years I've stopped playing.
Nothing you can buy in Warframe gives you any advantage or makes you op. Cosmetics and speeding up building that's it.

Pay for progress is pay to win. You can straight up pay $80 to unlock brand new primes when they come out or grind relics to get the parts then wait 24 hours for each part for 4 parts to then wait 3 full days to craft the frame. So yes its pay to win
@@TastyMango225 its not even pvp and the only pvp aspect of the game isn’t even affected by that. So you could buy prime access to skip a grind but that’s all you’d be doing and the grind is pretty much the point of the game
The Doom Shotgun is a re-skinned Lockwood shotgun, the same shotgun that has pretty high base range by itself already, this wasn't some secret shotgun that could snipe you from crazy distances, this isn't the KSG from Black Ops 2. People truly have misinterpreted what "Pay-To-Win," actually means, the same rule applies to other gun bundles.
They do know, they said it was pay to win because you could pay to unlock guns with attachments before you were high enough level to unlock them for free.

That simply isn't true, you are able to examine the weapon & it's attachments, and then put them on as your own, without having spent a penny, nobody wants to work to unlock anything anymore.
@@TastyMango225 The setup is far from the best for that gun, and it takes the whole of an hour(MAYBE) to level up the gun. You also can't change attachments on that variant, so you can't get the best setup for it even if you have it leveled. I hate Midern Borefare II, but it ain't pay to win in the slightest.

I will shamelessly admit that I take breaks from the game and when I return if I see a weapon/frame prime drop that I like I will hit the trade market and shell out the plats. Do you NEED primes to succeed in this game? No, not in the slightest. There's a chunk of weapons and frames that don't require a grid fest and mods drop at a reaonable rate that you can best the game

I remember hearing in Diablo Immortal that character progression is divided per class. Not only does it want you to pay an absorbiant amount to get stronger but if you want to try something else you need to start from scratch and start paying all over again.

You HAD to spend in order to even have a chance at placing top 10 in the leaderboard by the end of an event in order to win a once-in-an-event exclusive 4* Tier1 aircraft that had boosted stats, which you can use to have a slight edge in the next and upcoming events. The campaign didn't even have a real ending, you just beat like one boss a 2nd time and it was left at a cliffhanger. This game was essentially their cash cow in order to fund their AC7 project.

Calling Warframe's monetization "shady" b/c you have to grind for the things you want is ridiculous. The premium currency in the game is easily obtainable, allows for a plethora of ways to get it, and there's so much to do in the game if you ever grind for dozens of hours it's b/c you're playing it wrong or you're at the end game after playing for thousands of hours. FFS some of ya'll just want everything for free and can't imagine why a company has to charge customers for stuff.

You could buy an operator that will always start with a Medium sized backpack, or one that always starts with a Self-Revive, or one that will always start with a UAV killstreak in your slot for radar.

Mario Kart Tour changed a bit its gacha system, so you don't rely on luck to get pilots, cars of wings. However, it is worth noticing that the elements that are better and "rarer" (or mega-singular, as they are called in the game) are nowadays the vast majority.
PvZ 2 should of made the list. The game didn't start out as pay to win, but when EA wanted to make it pay to win in 2018 they fired the devloper of the game who was hesitant on the idea.

It's the nba 2k series that's pay to win. The games start you at 60 overall. It's going to cost more than 100 dollars just to get 80 overall plus. This counts towards having an advantage against other people in the park and against the computer in nba games

Woah Woah Woah! Buying gold on occasion won't hurt in Marvel Snap, but it is a pretty F2P Friendly Game. The Spotlight Keys are pretty useful for card acquisition if you can save them, the season pass is great value to buy every now and then and Collectors tokens aren't as rare as you might think. Don't let that put you off the best Mobile Game ever!
Jurassic World Alive is up there. BIG TIME! Definitely one of those “grinds barely matter” & “be prepared to lose to players who have dropped hundred of dollars”.
Boosts, evolutions, coins, etc, this game is relentlessly impossible to advance and enjoys keeping the players looking for a pastime in their place.
I was big into MapleStory in the 2010's. Glad I didn't spend money on it and grinded my way through the few years playing it
Where in gods name is Star Wars galaxy of heroes? If you want a galactic legend (which you pretty much need to compete) you have to collect 16 characters and almost maximize them. If you have none of these characters, they can cost up to 3-400 dollars just to unlock. That doesn’t even count gear which could be between 100-200 dollars. You would also need mods. Which if you have none could cost like 50 dollars. Plus other materials that would factor in like zetas. And you have to do that for 16 character. Just to unlock 1 character. And than you have to put gear, mods, level up, zetas. A galactic legend, if you want to unlock it when you start playing could cost up to 10 grande. And there are 8 galactic legends in the game 😂
Edit: I completely forgot about relics. Which would probably cost 1-200 dollars per character. So add 3 grand more.

Star Trek Online is made by the same company who made Neverwinter. Both games require people to buy coins called Z-coins to go to the Z-Store in order to buy better equipment, hence the reason why I hardly play Star Trek Online due to enemies being able to destroy me with ease because the devs decided to have their level higher than mine (the highest level in the game is 65).
STO is now owned by DECA Games, a German based company. however their parent company is Embracer Group, formerly known as Nordic Games/ THQ Nordic. However, back in 2021 they acquired Cryptic Studios from Perfect World. Perfect World are a Chinese ownd company who bought Cryptic Studios from Atari.
Never trust anything owned by Chinese companies because you never know where your information was going to, which is why they dropped it in 2021 because the pressure started being applied when it came to the information of the users going to the wrong people.

When you're doing a "worst game," make sure it's the most current version instead of the Day 1 version. This mainly applies to Mario Kart Tour and Angry Birds Go. Both of them had significant changes from their current iteration.
As a side note, there was not a single Gacha Game that changes the meta after every new hero added or a Hero Team Builder like Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes or Looney Tunes World of Mayhem.

There are many games that I probably haven't even heard of that would deserve to go on that list more than some of the ones on there, but one I do know about that I would put on there (if it's still running) is Last Chaos, there are massive levels of upgrades that are only available through the Item Shop (they can be sold in-game, but you'd have to farm for weeks to be able to buy even one of the lower upgrades), and I don't know if it still exists in the game, as I haven't played in several years, but there was a chance that you could spend real money in the game and unintentionally DOWNGRADE your equipment with bad RNG.
I gave up all mobile games like Clash Royal. Also it’s just a false sense of accomplishment when you advance in lvls.

Gears of War 5. The line may be blurred with this one, so I’m open to legitimate criticism on this. Gears of War 5 had this system where you could buy 2 XP boosts using in game currency which you could use to rank up faster, or buy exclusive skins from the store. The reason I’m torn on this is because yes it does help you rank up faster in game, but it doesn’t give you things like overpowered weapons or give you insane perks in PVP. It’s mostly cosmetic things. Again, I’m open to other opinions on this.
All the Bravest was definitely a rage generator. There was all this hype for it before it came out, and fans were easily willing to pay the initial $2.99 fee to download it from the App Store. Then - timers? Microtransactions? I think that was the first time we had seen that sort of thing in a game that _wasn’t_ free-to-play, and the fans were like, WTF, Squeenix?

Honestly tho, the fact that both MW2 (2022) and MW3 (2023) focus more on cosmetics than fixing the actual game itself is just BS. There should be a list of all the BS Activision and the CoD devs have done that has pissed off the community that they still refuse to fix.

For a game not many will know and something that isn't a mobile game with real time waiting periods, there's a game called Freestyle Basketball. Primarily, Freestyle Basketball 2. While a lot of that game can be played and won against real players without a single dime for a free game, it doesn't help that a lot of improving characters you have or getting better characters mostly required buying them when they come out or wait half a year for them to become available in limited capacity in a free event. Even getting some of the best items for free doesn't help since a lot of the stats for characters comes down to luck of the draw
Modern Combat 5 was pretty greedy, too. I dropped over $100 over the span of a seasonal event just to unlock a character...
I was totally expecting Genshin Impact and/or Fire Emblem Heroes. Dont get me wrong, i fucking love those games, but my god do those games want your money.

Im shocked Middle Earth Shadow of War is not on this list. Its a single player game yet to get to the final ending youll need to go on a 40+ hr loot box grind fest or pay money to get an army of orcs needed to beat the game. Hopefully it got patched but still loot boxes are bullshit.
They removed that mechanic along with the store like less than 6 months after implementing it.
Why? No idea. My guess, people found a way to exploit the free chests countless times which could also spawn pretty good orcs when you have over 1k chests, making the premium chests worthless. Granted, you'd need to trash a bunch of orcs.....This worked across all platforms and was impossible to patch out. That's my theory at least. Could be completely wrong on why they removed it.

Halo 4 shouldve been on here. The times when you could buy loot boxes to get epic power weapons and vehicles was absolutely abysmal. A terrible player could have a fighting chance against the best of players soley because they could pay to spawn with the best weapons in the game

Things started going downhill but then Segasa purchased the company and flat out robbed the loyal gamers. First and foremost, the eternal daily gems which costed a huge $129.99 one time fee was simply discontinued without any notice or compensation which basically just gave a big middle finger to everyone. A class action lawsuit is still ongoing. Reduced awards , multiple game freezing, unfair bot arenas, viral boycott, and zero game support team all lead to the soon ultimate demise of this legendary game. R.I.P.

I havent played most of these games, but i do play Diablo Immortal and I can say its not pay-to-win if you just want to have fun, play the story, and beat the game (which I have) I dont play PVP in any game, so that might be a different matter.
