- With so many great achievements in gaming, it’s such a shame when things go so wrong. For this list, we’re looking at the biggest failures of the gaming industry from 2010 to 2019. These were games, and or consoles, that cost their companies millions of dollars for their mistakes. Our countdown includes the “No Man’s Sky” Launch, “Mass Effect: Andromeda”, “Anthem”, the PlayStation Network Hack, Telltale Games, and more! The Playstation Vita abandonment was DEPRESSING! The Vita was the handheld that many have been dreaming about for ages. For years, people wanted a console quality handheld in the palm of their hands. Sony should've stuck to their guns and supported the Vita with first party titles. Instead, they gave up way too quickly. Nintendo also had a rough first few years with the Nintendo3DS, but they didn't call quits. The first few years of ANY system will be tough, and Sony should've known better than to abandon it and call it a "legacy system." SHAME on you Sony. You ruined something great.

psp and vita were both wastrd potential. sony could have had the lead on handhelds if not for bad decisions

Leo Neil Tirol I recently bought The Sims 4 and is an insult how much they ask for dlc. And there are so many of them. It’s frustrating how much money I need to pay just to see my sims play with pets.
I have The sims 3 on disk. And through updates is nothing like on launch date. Everything is money with EA.
That is why Jedi Fallen order is strangely a breath of fresh air
But the reason still in alpha test so maybe have some bugs...

@Nguyễn Hải Dương Have you read or seen all the statements that came from EA with all of it's games trying to say sorry for all of it's failings, look at square enix with how badly FF14 (mmo) failed. Square bowed and said sorry while making a comeback with "a realm reborn FF14" a few years later. EA on the other hand has failed so many times and apologized for it but it doesn't matter because sports fans are too stupid to let EA die instead they keep giving them money.

Just to add something similar to the PlayStation network hack that happened in April 2011 you forgot the Christmas DDOS attack in 2014 where a hacker group name Lizard squad taken down both PSN and Xbox live at the same time on Christmas Day and had ruined Christmas for everyone on that day. Will never forget what a huge disgrace that was.

The Telltale Games shutdown wa absolutely devastating for me. I remember literally crying in disappointment and agony when the company announced on Twitter that they'd be shutting down due to financial problems. I was heartbroken!! I had fond memories of playing Minecraft: Story Mode so many times that I cannot count and loving every minute of it. It's a video game company that changed my life forever, thanks to the New Order of the Stone's journey. Goodbye, Telltale Games... gone, but never forgotten. 😔😭💔

I remember been away and not playing my ps3 back in 2011 for a couple of months, and when I finally returned it allowed me to download 2 free games as an apology for something I didnt even experience. Good times😊

I have to agree. When Disney, another fked up company, actually has to step in so EA doesn't destroy the franchise is/was huge tbh. That fail was so big that Disney were the good guys in that situation. Should tell you a lot.

Those have succeeded in their function, though. as they do generate extra revenue. They're not objectively bad or good, they're just implemented in good or bad ways.
This list is about objective failures.
I think of Crash Bandicoot Nitro-fueled Racing game. What Activision did was ridiculous. It's one thing that microtransactions slipped into the game after its initial release. On top of that, Activision itself promised not to do such a thing in the first place, but went back on their word about it after the release. That to me screams "Greed".

Bethesda should've been on the list. In one year they went from one of the most beloved game developers to one of the most hated.

Andromeda should not be lower then Anthem and Fallout 76, it had a bad launch but once they patched it Andromeda was a pretty decent game. Fallout 76 should be 2nd place
@Wuanslm Fallout 76 lost bethesda almost all of its fan base with one game. People still want more mass effect/dragon age
Dragon Age/ Mass Effect aren't made by Bethesda, what People want from Bethesda is a new Elder Scrolls game, even tho people are really scared right now.
You never know what's gonna happen next. Elder Scrolls VI and Dragon Age 4 can be a failure aswell.
Dragon Age already had a weird start, shutting down development, moving everything to Anthem, then starting all over with Dragon age with a new concept.
Anthem and ME:A should have swapped placed at least - especially as ME:A suffered FOR Anthem.
Andromeda wasn't bad. But when you compare it to the trilogy, it pales in comparison, and makes the real problems it has stand out so much more.
I'm sorry but nothing tops fallout 76... except maybe number 1 LoL 😑😑😑
The only good thing to come out of Number 1 was being offered 2 free games. I did enjoy playing Infamous, though couldn't really get into Little Big Planet with all the hype it got.

I came here ready to be pissed if Walking Dead’s Skybound’s last few episodes. Skybound finished it and they did their best and tons of people who played it loved it. Skybound did amazing.
I don't think they did amazing. Breaking a universe's lore isn't amazing. Clementine's bite pissed me off as a whole and was just seen as fan service for me. The Final Season could have been way better.

@@ichigokage True, but I don't think Fallout 76 is truly worthy of an AVGN review. Just because the game has a massively infamous reputation with tons of controversy and hate surrounding it (which it does rightfully deserve for the most part), that doesn't mean the game itself is the worst game ever made. It's pretty much the same thing as E.T. on Atari, which everybody said was the worst game of all time at one point (mainly because of its infamous reputation as it was partially responsible for causing the video game crash of 1983), but when the Nerd finally gave it an honest review, the game itself wasn't nearly as bad as everybody thought it was, and there are much worse games out there... Now in terms of overall quality and playability, Ride To Hell is on a WAY higher level of bad than Fallout 76! If the Nerd is gonna review another modern game (the first one he did was Life Of Black Tiger on PS4), then I think Ride To Hell is much more worthy of an AVGN review!

Not really in my opinion. Most of their games are pretty boring and the choices u make don't make any real impact. Telltale was like a brokeass version of the people who make Detroit and all those games.

Both WiiU and Vita are very good platforms on their own way once you've managed to jailbreak them though.

Battleborn being that high is pretty harsh. No question releasing it weeks before Overwatch was a terrible idea but to say it was worse than Mighty No. 9, Fallout 76 and Metal Gear Survive is a bit overkill.

It came out and it sucked. Thats about it
I somewhat enjoyed the game, but it was obvious there were flaws. Graphics that looked like a PS2 game. (even certain 2D PS2 games looked a lot better) Only the final level looked kind of nice. Even the early concept photos looked better. Level design was mostly meh, and there was a certain video that explained how it doesn't really suit the gameplay mechanics. The "energy tank" only worked on your current life, so you couldn't save it during bosses when you memorized their pattern. The abilities from bosses were mostly not that useful. The game was too short.
At least Mega Man 11 made up for all this.

Well..........ill would agree with you if Odessey was bullshit but the game is actually good, not awesome, but good, also Altair Skin on Smash Ultimate already on or Ezio as a full character there would revive the series yet again

The 2010s was the most polarizing decade for gaming.
I personally liked Andromeda. I found the characters likable and the gameplay good enough for several playthroughs. I think it's main reason for failure was being overhyped. Feel free to state your own opinion, but that's mine.

Actually TH-camrs blew things out of proportion just for likes (and increased income). The game is really good and it had a few animations that looked goofy and which have since been fixed. But this was not a deal breaker. What TH-camrs creators were able to accomplish was to stop the development of more Mass Effect games. Thanks but no thanks to them.
It was a very forgettable mess of a game with crap characters and dialogue, laughable alien races, and yes at that time many bugs and visual glitches. I also hated the changes they made to the way you control your squad (or the lack thereof, rather). Nobody asked for those changes and it just took control out of the players' hands. I honestly wish I never played it.
2010s Gaming in a Nutshell:
1. Too many games being delayed and coming out broken
2. Microtranscations and Loot Boxes caused so much a divide between gamers and developers
3. Games that were suppose to look like HD graphics came out looking downgraded
4. Triple A Games all wanted to be Open World and gamers complained about them being too similar.
5. Gaming Companies making promises and being called out for lying
6. Too many old games getting remasters and remakes
7. EA buying out so many developers causing most of the games they make to fail
8. Call of Duty is a yearly franchise and people got sick of it
9. Ubisoft became the most hated company because of the constant game crashes, graphical downgrades, and of course microtansactions.
10. Whenever people get excited for games its always met with disappointment when they didn't get what they asked for and calling the game "trash"
This has been a horrible decade for gaming. I know there are some good things that happen but in general it really hasn't been good.
So basically, game companies need to go back to thinking with their heads and not with their wallets?

@@SirDibble25 Well now we have the PS5 and to be honest I am not rushing to get it. I am sticking with the PS4. PS5 just looks like a PS4 3.0 with updated graphics and performance. I don't see the need to even get it. Until I see games that are exclusive to PS5 that bring out the true power then I might get, it but as of now I am not getting it any time soon. This gaming generation just seems so rushed and in a complete mess.

Remember Spore’s first look versus the actual release? It was pretty much finished save for a few things that needed tweaking, but EA didn’t like how “violent” it was with blood and stuff. So, they took over the project and destroyed it from the inside out by making it cutesy and cartoonish rather than scientific. They literally made the original creator give up on game development as a whole because they ruined his game

The Xbox 360 kinect was tremendously successful
It's issues weren't inherent to the kinect itself but the fact that mostly nobody wants motion controlled games, evidenced by how everybody owned a Wii and nobody played it.
The hacked PS classic is one of my fav systems of all time.
What about Battlefront 2? The game that made the greed of the video game industry in general and especially EA so obvious that even politicians started noticing their use of gambling mechanics to rip off kids and gambling addicts.

Biggest gaming fail of the 2010s: The lack of Half-Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, or Team Fortress 3 announcements/releases. And, unless I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure Half-Life: Alyx is NOT a sequel.

Andromeda wasnt that bad to be fair and although I really like it myself, it could have done with a lot more work to make it better than it was
ssme people disregarded the gameplay and story and just got turned off by the face animation's at launch cause first impressions do matter
imagine you are a diehard fan of the trilogy masterpiece... it was really painful to see how Andromeda turns out, not just because the face animation, but the plot delivery and the codex information etc.. Andromeda IS THAT BAD

It's a shame when games go bad but it makes for great lists.
Its all because of developers having poor management, lying about what their game is, and of course trying to put all loot boxes and microtranscations.
Mass Effect Andromeda wasn't THAT horrible. Just disappointing compared to the other ME games. The combat was even an upgrade.

The combat was miles better but the story was bland and the performance was a mess. My game literally crashed and I've been unable to get past that point in the game.
I played Andromeda 9 months after it launched and it was fine. No major bugs and fun gameplay. Not a great story, but ME3's ending was a huge controversy.
@@Paulafan5 You got lucky. I'm not usually one to join in on the hate bandwagon. I've enjoyed plenty of games that are considered crap but andromeda for me was a mess. The foundations were there for a great game like I said but the execution was poor.
A dull story I can live with but a bug that causes me to crash and my framerate to drop to single digits all the time is unacceptable.
The second i saw the Vita i literally jumped. That's exactly why i want it. Said to have technology that rivaled smartphones of its time, i want to see its full power.
Shame Sony destroyed it and swept it under the rug. Oh well, i'm gonna be buying a secondhand Phat model anytime this year.

Personally, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was one of the worst games in history. Garbage controls, sloppy character design. Even the story is lame. At least the tv series' is better.

Not so much the presentation as much as people STILL referencing it as if these features shipped and were then corrected. The only, actual misfire they had with their launch was the Kinect, but news outlets and consumers alike only paid attention to a "feature" that was only ever an announcement.

@@99Lezard99 there was nothing to "switch" from, it was a feature announcement that was immediately dropped due to fan backlash, never even impacted gamers. That people kept judging then on it (gamers and media alike) when it never actually happened days more about people than Microsoft, as they were the ones the reacted to fan feedback.
It merits mentioning that DEM measures were something the entire industry was working on leading into this gen, and near universally walked away from due to that E3 conference. Every other company under the sun got to benefit from MS being first to talk to about it.

I am really into the game of thrones telltale game right now. I am on chapter 4. It really makes me frustrated that they didn't get to finish. It is so much fun to play and has such a great storyline.

Assassins creed origins came out between syndicate and Odyssey. The host made it sound like Odyssey came out after the ubisoft break and overhaul.
