@cetus835 if I told you something wasn't great but also wasn't bad what would you call that? Mediocre good and ok are all pretty much the same thing in that context
@@cetus835 I think the biggest set back for the game was it was a full $60 release for what felt like 1/2 a game. The gameplay wasn't anything special. It was a pretty normal 3rd person cover to cover shooter. But it ends right when you think the main juice is about to be squeezed. I got it for $10 and it is by far the best $10 game I have ever played. Just feels incomplete and I wish sony would green light a sequel.
I was disappointed Watch Dogs didn't live up to what was promised, but i absolutely loved what was there. The music, the "hacker" gameplay. What really made WD memorable for me was the intruder game play. Perfectly hiding, sometimes in plain sight, watching the other player frantically look for you. Hope the franchise makes a comeback.
Callisto Protocol's failure is heartbreaking. Saw an interview where he described the hell they went through - excecutives moving the date forward by 3 months in time for their IPO, cutting the content etc. Sad stuff.
Played Callisto first time this year, after they dropped DRM. This is the best game i played since 2022 till now (tho i didnt play Dead Space Remake and GoW Ragnarok yet). Only other good games were Robocop and maybe Fort Solis (if thats a game). There should be Starfield and Diablo 4 on that list, and not Callisto. These were really mediocre (I still hope they will be much better).
@@bwhere45 so name few titles better than Callisto released after Callisto, because my point was, there really arent many, if at all (i dont play Final Fantasy, Elden Ring, or idk, Hogwarts Legacy).
I played it on Game Pass and it was mid af. After the revival of AAA survival horror that was RE7 and RE2 Remake, people were itching for another AAA survival horror from the creators of Dead Space but Callisto Protocol turned out to be mediocre linear action slop. Like seriously, your setting is a prison set in Jupiter’s moon and they made you go in a straight line? If they let us explore the prison in RE2 Remake style then it would have been a 9/10 game. What wasted potential.
@@briggsg any game that has defensive combat more than "move stick to left or right." This stupid internet delusion of thinking something is great because you personally liked it needs to stop. Callisto is like the devs looked at all the most interesting aspects of Dead Space and made a game solely from the leftovers.
The reason that North Korea had to be the Homefront villain is because it's the only country that you can't market the game in, I mean you certainly can't portray China as a villain in a video game.
They originally made it to be china but the Chinese shareholders of the the publisher said no change it. So same with the red dawn remake at the time. I just play it as if it was china. someone should mod it.
@@GnrlDillin fallout villain are basically the enclave (fallout 1-3), Caesar legion (fallout NV), and the institute (Fallout 4). Even in the series they reveal that vault tec is the one who dropped the bomb to start the apocalyptic world of fallout.
@@haidarnaufaldy1889It's actually still ambiguous, we've seen Vault-Tec discussing dropping the nukes first in the TV series but we don't know if they _actually_ were the first. Mr. House in New Vegas said he thought they had plenty of time, but it turned out they didn't (implying some faction beat Vault-Tec to the idea; the party at the start of the show supports the idea that they were taken by surprise). Tim Cain also thinks Vault-Tec could not have been the first and said it was China that launched the nukes first in his envisioned lore (he ultimately leaves it up to Bethesda though). I like what Leonard Boyarsky said, it doesn't matter who did. The ambiguity gives it a whodunnit element and should not need to be answered. FO2 implied an AI started it for fun, FO3 implied aliens did it, it could really be anyone.
Man the childhood memories unlocked with Enter The Matrix. Half the time I had no idea what was going on but I had a good time, especially during the freeway mission
that mission had the worst driving segment in any game, it felt like driving a brick that was tied to another brick, even at the time. Path of Neo was an apology for Enter the Matrix
Enter the Matrix was such a banger when I was a kid. I had it on my ps2 & played through it like 10 times. I also remember Brute Force. I wasn’t allowed to play M rated games at that time, so I’d go over to my neighbors house & we’d play it all day. Great game.
Yeah no clue how this was on the list the game was great and loads of fun, had no clue people didn't like it until today. Guess that's the internet for ya
I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain that Spore was unenjoyable and mediocre.....even today it's one of the best creature creators out there and they did expand the game with Galactic Adventures that made it even better Creating your own missions where you can customise literally everything (buildings, characters, story, sound, effects, dialogue...and loads more) was fantastic What was even better about that expansion was the online feature where you could share or play adventures of other people and most importantly it made the space stage a lot more enjoyable, since you're mostly stuck in a space ship it was always nice seeing your character again
I always saw complaints being targeted at EA for forcing changes to the game while it was in progress. Really weird that none of that was mentioned here since a lot of that "shallowness" was EA's fault.
Yeah spore is great, I also have some good memories of heavenly sword too, it was one of my first ps3 games lol, didn't think it was mediocre or anything..
Man I was so hyped for that game... the flying was badass and skimming the water to cool your jets? Awesome... I had heard that it was "better" about a year and a half ago so I bought it for some small amount but nope...disappointed all over again
Rly Spore is in this? I watched xqc stream it on Kick and at no point did I think this game is medicore, he loved it, the chat loved it whats the issue with it?
@SAVANTI711 naw brink was absolutely terrible... I remember being so excited for that game and I hated it. The only good thing was the parkour movement. The gameplay and customization were garbage
@@SAVANTI711 "Because Brink was really good and A lot of people have fond memories of it." I purchased it and traded it the same day. BRINK did not live up to what is was supposed to be.
I actually enjoyed Callisto Protocol more than I thought I would after seeing the reviews. The main issue is that it was advertised as a survival horror game and a spiritual successor to Dead Space when it is clearly an action horror game. I think people would've enjoyed it more if they knew what to expect from it.
That’s more or less why I don’t watch trailers anymore. Hearing about a game’s reception after release is a way safer way to decide what to get excited for.
I'll agree as Spore wasn't "Overhyped" in the standard fashion. You had a few paid off mags hype it up, but everyone already knew it was going to suck out loud, so there was no actual "hype" for a game promising something technologically today's developers barely can accomplish.
No one remembers Brute Force? What? Not only is it one of my all time favourite games, it’s one of those games that randomly comes to mind when I think about dream-sequels we’ll never get.
tbh imo Spore is a pretty solid game and is a big Childhood memories for the fans of Maxis, the Evolutionary stage from the micro organism to Fully Land to Sky creature is great and very fun part of the game, but when u enter the Tribal and Civil Age, the game turn from adventure to RTS, which honestly comparing the Tribal to Civilization Age ironically the tribal Era is wayyy more fun im my humble opinion, its just what you do in Civil Age is just claim spice on land, claim spice on sea, attack this, convert this, trade with this and prty much only that. meanwhile on tribal stage you actually play it like an actual rts games, get some population up, create building for more weapons and tech, gather food from various source and the choice to Attack or Befriend other Tribal Group, and the combat honestly way more better than the Civil Age Land,Naval,Sky combat provide. and yes also the Space Stage is also a bit underwhelming cuz i agree if only the dev spent more time on this stage and try more various stuff to test in this stage, it honestly could be the No Man Sky of that Era, The World is HUGE but its just lots of it are meant for nothing, only provides some Flora & Fauna to be taken to your own Solar system for the purpose of Terraforming, and yeah there's also Treasure here n there but that's about it. The Lore is what i have more interest for since it is way more engaging than the Gameplay ngl, It relates back to the treasure you found on some planet, lots of it have a very good lore story about how was it there and what its made for. there's also lots of unique solar system and cool Star System that are great too visit (like some Blackholes, Wormholes, etc) and even unique planets existed. heck even our Real Solar system is in the game lol (ive seen it in game and its funny how small Earth is in that game) overall yeah i feel like about 45-60 % of the game have done quite right but the rest of it are bit underwhelming. but hey, the Creation Mode is actually where this game Sparks! its very fun to create some silly Creatures, buildings, vehicles, etc in this game lol and also There is mods to support more Creation Kit for the player to use it for our own creativity, this is where ive seen people have made some crazy stuff that are impossible to make without mods (like some Dragons or even eldritch being lol) so come on now man, Spore Creation is not all about PP Monster 🤣
Order 1886 was surprisingly good when it came to story & characters. My biggest problem is that it was too short in certain sections, we couldn’t pick any weapons we wanted, no infinite ammo option, and we didn’t fight enough fantasy creatures. I really wanted to take down Jack the Ripper. I hope at some point in the future we do see a sequel.
Good when it came to story? Not how I experienced it. Paint by the numbers standard story, whose twists could be spotted by spotting the names... it had interesting ideas, like that life-extending elixir, but....
@@ArcaneSorceror i’m not saying it’s “gone with the wind” levels of story. But still, it was good and it had interesting twists. It would’ve been nice to see more of this world expanded on. And they definitely could’ve improved on gameplay. A lot of things felt too restricted
@@asksearchknock oh man don’t get me started on the QuickTime stuff. Certain times I’m OK with it(like in the insomniac Spider-Man games or even RE6) but if it’s overused(like in RE5 and 1886), it will infuriate me.
I liked it too. But, it was too short for a game at that scale; it didn't have the time to marinade... to show its potential. It was just there to showcase the power of the console, and like everything else that doesn't get to please the majority, it gets forgotten.
I've got 2 more 1. Hatred. The infamy was off the charts! "Oh its so violent!" "Adults only rating!" Everyone was talking about it. Then it came out and was basically just GTA as a twin stick shooter. 2. Atomic Heart. Incredible graphics, and a BioShock look. It ultimately was the studios first ever game however but nobody seemed to take that into account. If you try to compare it to BioShock then yeah you're gonna be disappointed. But if you view it as these guys never made a game before and this was their first attempt then its bloody incredible
Hatred wasn't hyped. The only thing people talked about was that you're playing as an active shooter with some people wanting to buy it out of protest to annoy those who called it sick which brought it to peoples attention to begin with. The environmental destruction was good from what I heard tho, but calling what had been a controversy a hype is quite far fetched, I know exactly 1 Person who bought it and that one only bought it out of spite - everyone knew about it but barely anyone actually cared about it at the end of the day.
@@Unknown_Genius I just googled stats on it and it sold 631k copies and grossed $4.1 million. For an Indie title that's pretty darn good. I'd argue that they used the controversy to create hype. GTA does the same thing really if you think about it
@@Unknown_Genius I bought hatred for the meme but it was actually a good game with great visuals and the destruction was cool aswell. It is like Postal but top down. The last two levels were hard af because you dont even go against civilians at that point (which was the controversy lmao) but only the military
@@skye_music I mean, technically postal did start as top down as well - didn't hear that the game was good tho, only that it had good destruction - but as said, I also only know 1 person who bought it out of spite like most did, so there wasn't that much talk about if it was good or not, main thing going on was the controversy
@@frostbite3820 630k sales is good for indie that's true, but I disagree that GTA does the same thing, most don't care about the controversy there and just wanted it because the consensus was that it's generally a good game (or franchise for that matter), somethig people would play at a friends house and instantly go out to buy it themselves (e.g. GTA San Andreas was in most households here already before some weird person on TV tried to act like you could dismember bodies with a chainsaw) - whereas hatred was mainly bought out of spite due to the online controversy surrounding it.
Everyone complains about the story of Homefront not making sense, but A. It’s no more ridiculous than the modern warfare games where a terrorist attack leads to a Russian Invasion and WWIII and B. It’s in an alternate universe where North Korea is the powerhouse that China is in our universe, North Korea in those games is not the same little North Korea we have.
it was, calling it slow and clungy whne playing like a game reviewer who could't get past cuphead toturial is crazy, game was decently good and was good fun the fact that anthon and starfied not here is crazy
I really liked Advent Rising, and I don't think it gets enough love. I never thought of it as a Halo clone, to me it felt more like a precursor to Mass Effect.
I love Advent Rising, flaws and all. Fun gameplay, engaging story, and an absolute banger of a soundtrack. It pains me that we never got the rest of the story.
Agreed, I remember reading in a magazine how it was planned as part of a trilogy and how powerful you would become and I was all for it. Amazing story, with a great ending twist. Did multiple runs, my favorite run was just powers and fists. Most fun I had.
I think it's a hard game to judge. I think it's unique, interesting and different from anything I played before. But there are also things that don't work well, I think.
Nah bro I remember lmao Do you remember the weird fighting game demos that came with it? 😂 fr tho, it was an amazing game and the world/lore of it was so well realised. There are lots of fun memories there. Also, I'm not sure if it's on the list, but Mech Assault went so hard as well
Brute force was easily one of my favorite games at that time, it was so much fun to play and could have really gone places if people would have given it a try. Also, I agree, mech assault was also amazing.
Advent Rising is one of my favorite games of all time. How it's a disappoinment?? It was a cool game, it ended on a cliffhanger. I still hope for a sequel
I absolutely love Advent Rising. Incredible soundtrack and a story written by Orson Scott Card (writer of Ender's Game). The gameplay had some bugs, but nothing that particularly bothered me. And I think it's weird that this video complains about the flick stick targeting, because Star Wars: The Force Unleashed copied it and nobody complained. Honestly, Force Unleashed gave me Advent Rising vibes with a Star Wars coat of paint.
SAME. I spend absurd amounts of time looking up gaming news... and I've straight up NEVER heard of the #1 game on the list before. I feel like I'm in the bizarro world 😂
I followed this game here in Russia back in the day. Wanted to play it so badly. Got a copy of it after release. A pirated copy to tell you the truth. It was badly pirated and game never started from menu. I still want to play that game now. 😅
When Evolve would have released nowadays it probably wouldn't have that much of a problem as back then. Even the "bad" dlc politics wouldn't be that big of a problem anymore. It's nearly the same modell as dead by daylight is running. They just would have to make hunters and monsters be "earnable" to unlock them through playing as an option to real money(maybe tweak prices a bit) and they would need to fix bugs/stability. Otherwise it probably would do fine nowadays. At least there is no similar game hitting this niche i am aware of. Asymmetrical gameplay in form of real bossfights on this scale.
Same with hellgate London. The first lootbased shooter and made the genre popular. But he shits on it because he never played these games when they released and now when they are dead it's not like 10 years Fortnite. They clearly have to be trash.
It's rare to have a game that sounded as good as Evolve. I still visit it often for the bot mode which if you ever played it online, made the game more enjoyable than someone who didn't have a clue what to do. I never bought any of the DLC but I still had fun with it. I believe the DLC monsters were later added in the game at no cost.
Hellgate London has to this day one of the best classes design in all of gaming. Every single class felt good and unique. That alone makes playing in worth it.
I loved Hellgate, as you said the classes were amazing, the mix of rpg/shooter was pretty novel, but i never found a reason to finish it, the quest never evolved, it has about 7-8 enemies model that just slightly change name/or colors. I fell like that it was just a case of over ambitious. Still the trailer were really something for the time
I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw Hellgate London. I've been telling people "Yeah, the game isn't... well it's kind of bad? But there's just *something* about it that makes me want to love it." Since the servers shut down. It was a real second shot to my heart to see the re-release on Steam basically be a copy-pasta of the Korean version, etc. etc. Still a highlight of my childhood. And then I saw Advent Rising. It feels like this list was curated FOR ME. Another game I absolutely adored in my childhood.
gameplay was boring af.. repetitive sht because they were too lazy to make more guns. I hated using that metal weapon time and time again..and lets not even mention the "evade" mechanic that you needed to use like 90% of the time -_-
I have always suspected that Jake Baldino is actually Falcon with Just a voice change, and the voice sounded exactly like Jake when he was mentioning number 13, I cant be the only one who noticed that🤔🤔
idc what any1 says callisto protocol was good and deserves a sequel, i think other people having too high expectations doesnt mean the devs are at fault
Callisto protocol IS what got me to buy dead space remake , i enjoyed Callisto and loved it , and i wish for more . Callisto and dead space are two different titles , both are awesome and fun and thrilling to play . Callisto definitely needed some polishing and more work on some things , that extra somthing might made the game epic . Every body kept sying that DS2 was way cooler than the first one , but in my opinion DS1 was phenomenal ( DS2 was nice , but not like the first one ) . I'm not gonna mention the third . Callisto is way better than most game coming out today , you can barley find a good one , lets face it , Great games are scarce ...
@AFAIK-l8k people expected dead space with a different name, I'm glad it wasn't. There were no collectibles to be found, it was a much more cinematic experience. Shotgun shells randomly in the women's bathroom lol or a bottlehead none of that. It was "short' and linear because they cut out the time feeler "game" stuff. I want more of that particular combat system, one game isn't enough. It felt different and fresh, people complained because more than one enemy was almost impossible...... without preparation. Also the pc version was busted on release and there was a gamebreakimg bug on the mission "below" These have been sorted out. The atmosphere is truly fantastic, the game is a banger!
I’m about halfway through and don’t think the melee is that great, does it get way better or something, I like the dodging element but it’s still pretty basic so far
I played Enter The Matrix the day it came out. My friend and I were burning through until we got to one section that was literally impossible. You were supposed to follow a jet but as soon as you got into the car and began to accelerate you failed. My friend and I each tried for hours to get past that point. It wasn't until a patch was released that it became possible. At that point I was over the game and went back to playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I will never forget my time as a one man army medic in that game. I was also a menace as a spy.
The antagonist in Homefront was supposed to be China, which would have made more sense, but the publishers didnt want to offend the Chinese government so that they would ban sales of the game and the publisher would lose a ton of revenue. So it was changed to North Korea.
The homefront multiplayer was actually really good. I loved playing that game. The way you got vehicles was great and I wish more games had that kind of feature
The Callisto Protocol isn't a bad game, its just a letdown cause we all expected Dead Space, and not a spooky space themed brawler. If that was clear upfront, I think it would get less hate.
The Callisto Protocol is a great counter-part to Dead Space, especially if you just finished the latter and want to reverse the power scales. Love being the tormentor instead of the tormented.
The control scheme is shit and the gameplay is endlessly boring, regardless of whether people were expecting Dead Space or not. I just wanted a good horror game in space. It's not.
One thing that stuck with me about Callisto Protocol is that in the whole duration I played it, like three or four hours, I only remember maybe two or three enemy types lol Compare that to enemy variety in like the first hour of Dead Space.
As one of the two people who remembers Brute Force I gotta say the sound design in that game was incredible. Firing off a shotgun or throwing a grenade in that game had IMPACT team. Plus one of the best coop games of its generation. Deserves more
Dude i loved Brute Force and The Bouncer lol I used to rent them from my local video store over and over. I never even knew at the time Brute Force was supposed to be a Halo killer, so i never compared it to Halo which helped me enjoy the game better. The Bouncer was fun but extremely short.
Being asked to fill Dead Spaces shoes ruined any chance that game had. If you take it and okay it for what it is, it's an enjoyable games if you take it and want it to be Dead Space.. it isn't and you're going to be disappointed
@letunglong8666 it certainly took some getting uses to....but once u get it it's nice...there are moments where it feels like the camera cheesed u like in soulslike games but overall a solid game
So glad it was Falcon, always enjoy your narrations and this was a good script, so props to whoever wrote it. Thanks for the recommendation about 30XX. I have never heard of that one before and it looks amazing, plus its currently on sale on Steam this weekend! Cheers Gameranx!
No mention of Too Human? It at least deserves a (dis)honorable mention. It started out pretty cool and had potential for some seriously cool lore but completely fell flat on its face half-way through leading to Silicon Knights implosion.
Callisto was good, I just think the internet doesn’t know how to play it properly, then complain about the small things in gameplay, and others behind them follow like a massive bandwagon. The only fair criticism I would say is that the saving system is terrible considering auto and manual save barely made any difference, the story made no sense, and DLC expansion should’ve come included with the game considering how lacking the base game is after you beat it.
Watching this unlocked some core memories. State of emergency’s claim to fame was the amount of npcs that would run around the screen. It was essentially the gta riot mode missions, but that was the entire game. Brute force had a glitch at the final boss where there was a checkpoint type of task that you had to initiate but it would often fail causing you to never be able to finish the final boss without restarting.
Spore is a lot better than you're giving it credit for, to the point I kinda doubt you've played it. Particularly in regards to your comment about doing one stage and you've played enough. Cell/creature stages follow a similar "explore and upgrade" formula, but then tribal/civilization stages are basically mini-RTSes with significant differences from each other, and the space stage is basically a mini-4X in realtime. It's definitely not some masterpiece, but it has a major cult following for a reason. There are still TH-camrs even bigger than you doing regular challenge videos on it.
@@ThanosInevitableYT Nope, it's because he's objectively wrong. It's not an opinion that there are significant differences between the stages, it's a fact. If he has played it, he never got further than the creature stage before putting it down.
@@ThanosInevitableYTno. I know he did not play these games when they were released. Because then he would not have included at least 1/3 of the list. The funny thing about Watchdogs was that they advertised like the big hacker game where you are the all-powerful hacker. But in the end, it’s a generic GTA clone and involves literally zero hacking.
State of emergency was fun.... but you're barking up the wrong tree if you expected it to be like Gran theft auto. It was a simple game to let off some steam.

Callisto one of my all time favorite. Not too long linear cinematic experience. But it's true, I don't pay 70 eur for any game. Than my expectations would be different. But everything in game is real like, that means also animations at human speed, not arcade like. Great game. Now you can get BR version for 15 eur. Like going twice to movies.
Always remember: there was somebody at Maxis who had an idea how Spore could be all that it promised, and they just thought it was not needed, and making the shallow version we got, was enough.
My theory still stands: they accelerated the production of Calisto Protocol after being surprised by the announcement of Dead Space Remake. So much so that months later news emerged about crunch in the game's development.
North Korea being the invaders isn't even a problem with Homefront, gotta remember, that was like peak North Korea scare in the US and not to mention there was literally a red dawn remake with North Korea as the bad guys (russian backed but still)
There was never a NK scare lol both Red Dawn and Homefront were originally going to feature the Chinese but they wanted to sell in China because they were opening up to foreign media
Black & White was so much fun. Half the stuff didn't make sense and some of the stuff you needed to do was so absurd I straight up refused to do it and it would punish you harshly. What a game, loved it.
Only good thing about Back 4 Blood is that it's frequently on sale, is something "new" and offers crossplay - something loads of people have pointed out during the open beta, yet tons still bought it somehow and then complained.
My disappointment with Back 4 Blood was that everybody was disappointed with it. I actually loved that game. It's not the simple, fast, and super fun game that Left 4 Dead was, but it's not bad IMHO. Other than the BS stuff (like special spawns right after another), among other things like same-y levels, weird pacing, needs too much team coordination, etc... it was actually a pretty solid shooter with some nice customizations for fun and weird builds. I particularly loved the builds. Some people think it's too cumbersome, and I totally get where they're coming from.
@@clockwork204 They created the disappointment people had tho, if you plaster "From the makers of Left 4 Dead" everywhere (and leave out that Valve did a ton to make it playable, including not allowing them to release it before it's actually finished and polished as well as scratching things that'd rather hinder the flow than make it fun) and then end up with a budget left 4 dead wanna be then yes, people are going to be disappointed. Is B4B the worst game ever? No. Is it worth the full price they asked for? nope. Do I agree with the bs patching they did where they blamed speedrunners for having to nerf movement speed cards because they'd "run ahead of others in public matches" (fully ignoring that speedrunners don't play public matches, generally not admitting that they never gave a thought to the fact that there's always people pushing ahead of the group even without extra speed) instead of standing up for their fail? Absolutely not. Do I trust the company that not only parted with valve because "We were forced to actually make a finished game" and had their previous title shut down to revive it as a f2p and sell people everything as mtx again? Also no. Overall its okay if you got friends on console and want to play something like left 4 dead crossplay (and get it on a massive discount), but it's fully overshadowed by how baseline it is and the companies history, both before they made B4B and during the time they supported B4B - hell, we don't even know yet if they'll repeat the "shut it down, re-release it as a new f2p remake just to shut it down again" bs so even getting it on sale is hard to recommend.
@@Unknown_Genius Yeah that's true. Turtle Rock kind of set the expectations way up there, then made something that's only similar at the very surface level. Again... I actually liked the game, even with its flaws (though people speeding through the level definitely does ruin games). But this ain't the Left 4 Dead people were expecting.
I liked it, I bought it at launch. Great atmosphere and the actors were good. It was like dead space a bit but did it's own thing. It's a good one and done.

I have a soft spot for Callisto. The presentation and atmosphere were amazing, but the gameplay left a lot to be desired. Best 6/10 game I’ve played 😅
Me too!!!
yeah i really liked it
I agree. It was a refreshing horror game for what it was.
Josh duhmal, Sam witwer, and that Asian chick from the boys really made a good cast for the game
Callisto was def overhyped. But it was also overhated.
@@briggsg Starfield and Diablo 4 were bad, not mediocre. Callisto being labeled as mediocre is being gentle.
Anyone else notice Jake done the intro for number 13? 😂
I am thinking Falcon is just Jake after drinking a bunch of cough syrup to sound drunk/slurred/bored 😆
Editing mistake probably.

The conspiracy I keep seeing is Falcon is just Jake so maybe he slipped. 😂😂
@poolhalljunkie9 he's not jake lol. Such a weird theory.
The Bouncer was one of the first games I got for the PS2. My dad got it for us at a pawn shop. I loved that game
Me too. So much fun!
Fallout?
Fallout?
I have fond memories of the game as well.
The gameplay while definitely not perfect was fun.
I think there was a way to hack in multiplayer too

that mission had the worst driving segment in any game, it felt like driving a brick that was tied to another brick, even at the time. Path of Neo was an apology for Enter the Matrix
Childhood and Matrix in the same sentence just made me feel super old! 😂
I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain that Spore was unenjoyable and mediocre.....even today it's one of the best creature creators out there and they did expand the game with Galactic Adventures that made it even better
Creating your own missions where you can customise literally everything (buildings, characters, story, sound, effects, dialogue...and loads more) was fantastic
What was even better about that expansion was the online feature where you could share or play adventures of other people and most importantly it made the space stage a lot more enjoyable, since you're mostly stuck in a space ship it was always nice seeing your character again

Spore is great, seeing it on this list is just flabbergasting.

I actually enjoyed Callisto Protocol more than I thought I would after seeing the reviews. The main issue is that it was advertised as a survival horror game and a spiritual successor to Dead Space when it is clearly an action horror game. I think people would've enjoyed it more if they knew what to expect from it.
The irony is it’s hard to not be hyped when game trailers are literally made to hype gamers up before release
I mean yea that's the whole point of trailers. nice job figuring it sherlock
That’s not Irony.
That’s more or less why I don’t watch trailers anymore. Hearing about a game’s reception after release is a way safer way to decide what to get excited for.
Don't watch them. Done.
I am never trusting promotional material ever again after Starfield's 45-minute deep dive video. I bought into the hype like you wouldn't believe.
It's a shame The Bouncer didn't get more love, I loved playing that game on my PS2.
It looked like something i would've loved back then. Shame I never heard of it till now
I replayed the hell out of that game, thought it was awesome when I was a kid! Loved the soundtrack too.

I took that Callisto Protocol,Order 1886 and Watch Dogs slander but Spore.....Fighting words man.
understandable, black and white mightve been rough but it was amazing, not as good as 2 but so much good.
Callisto is amazing! It's so much better now!
It was one of my favorite games, the gator dude was sick to use. But those damn alien things that dropped the red crystals always annoyed me
this was not overhyped...
Brute force was dope to play with my friends hours on couch coop
Played Brute Force a lot with my brother back then and still think about the game every now and then.
Thank you! I thought the same thing when it came up.
tbh imo Spore is a pretty solid game and is a big Childhood memories for the fans of Maxis, the Evolutionary stage from the micro organism to Fully Land to Sky creature is great and very fun part of the game, but when u enter the Tribal and Civil Age, the game turn from adventure to RTS, which honestly comparing the Tribal to Civilization Age ironically the tribal Era is wayyy more fun im my humble opinion, its just what you do in Civil Age is just claim spice on land, claim spice on sea, attack this, convert this, trade with this and prty much only that. meanwhile on tribal stage you actually play it like an actual rts games, get some population up, create building for more weapons and tech, gather food from various source and the choice to Attack or Befriend other Tribal Group, and the combat honestly way more better than the Civil Age Land,Naval,Sky combat provide.
and yes also the Space Stage is also a bit underwhelming cuz i agree if only the dev spent more time on this stage and try more various stuff to test in this stage, it honestly could be the No Man Sky of that Era, The World is HUGE but its just lots of it are meant for nothing, only provides some Flora & Fauna to be taken to your own Solar system for the purpose of Terraforming, and yeah there's also Treasure here n there but that's about it.
The Lore is what i have more interest for since it is way more engaging than the Gameplay ngl, It relates back to the treasure you found on some planet, lots of it have a very good lore story about how was it there and what its made for. there's also lots of unique solar system and cool Star System that are great too visit (like some Blackholes, Wormholes, etc) and even unique planets existed. heck even our Real Solar system is in the game lol (ive seen it in game and its funny how small Earth is in that game)
overall yeah i feel like about 45-60 % of the game have done quite right but the rest of it are bit underwhelming.
but hey, the Creation Mode is actually where this game Sparks! its very fun to create some silly Creatures, buildings, vehicles, etc in this game lol and also There is mods to support more Creation Kit for the player to use it for our own creativity, this is where ive seen people have made some crazy stuff that are impossible to make without mods (like some Dragons or even eldritch being lol)
so come on now man, Spore Creation is not all about PP Monster 🤣

I liked it too. But, it was too short for a game at that scale; it didn't have the time to marinade... to show its potential. It was just there to showcase the power of the console, and like everything else that doesn't get to please the majority, it gets forgotten.
I've got 2 more

EVOLVE walked so all the asymmetrical many-vs-1 games we currently have could run.
@@Gol4191 I agree I still hope somehow Evolve could return. Just slap a campaign on it and bring back the Multiplayer. I loved it.
Same with hellgate London. The first lootbased shooter and made the genre popular. But he shits on it because he never played these games when they released and now when they are dead it's not like 10 years Fortnite. They clearly have to be trash.
Evolve walked so Dead by Daylight could run as all the other asymmetrical games have either died or are on the way out.
It's rare to have a game that sounded as good as Evolve. I never bought any of the DLC but I still had fun with it. I believe the DLC monsters were later added in the game at no cost.

I loved Hellgate, as you said the classes were amazing, the mix of rpg/shooter was pretty novel, but i never found a reason to finish it, the quest never evolved, it has about 7-8 enemies model that just slightly change name/or colors. The melee combat did something different and it was good!
Why do you think it flopped

Fascinating to hear how old stuff is received, when you were a kid picking the game at blockbuster you had no idea. You just had fun.

Collisto was really good. I wish it was longer
@@sonicexereaper6814true and the reviewers were so rushed to finish the game for content , they ended up not knowing what the game truly was
@@sonicexereaper6814Punchout in space.
A true gem
@@sonicexereaper6814the game felt more next gen than dead space in my opinion the game & dlc were really good
It's so bad. Borderline unfinished
So you doubt he played because his opinion differs from yours? 😂
@@ThanosInevitableYT Nope, it's because he's objectively wrong. It's not an opinion that there are significant differences between the stages, it's a fact. If he has played it, he never got further than the creature stage before putting it down.
Agreed, that game was popular.
@@ThanosInevitableYTno. I know he did not play these games when they were released. Because then he would not have included at least 1/3 of the list. These games were genre defining and one of the most loved games back then. They were not overhyped because they were released the time were TH-cam started and nobody was watching that back then. So it was word to mouth. People liked a game, they told their buddies and they played it and liked it. That's why everyone loves these games.
@@ledumpsterfire6474 or he did play it and just didn’t like it 🤷♂️ not everyone had the same opinion or experience with games as you sorry to break it to ya princess, you have a very self centered and egotistical way of thinking and it’s just incorrect, you have no way of knowing if he played or not and because he said something negative about a game you personally like he automatically hasn’t played it in your eyes that’s ridiculous, I know plenty of people who don’t like some of the greatest games of all time and they’ve played it it’s called an opinion for a reason and not everyone has to agree with you, the level of entitlement you give off is pathetic.
Did Falcon forget to say “Next over at Number 13”? Because that was definitely Jake’s voice and then Falcon come back in.
Are we still pretending Jake and Falcon are different ppl?
that was falcon baldino
@@ahmedhamm5464 Jake Falconi lol
The funny thing about Watchdogs was that they advertised like the big hacker game where you are the all-powerful hacker. But in the end, it’s a generic GTA clone and involves literally zero hacking.
Don't dis my Black and White!! That was AMAZING!!!
Callisto protocol & The Order: 1886 are good games. People will look back fondly at them in the future.
State of emergency was fun.... but you're barking up the wrong tree if you expected it to be like Gran theft auto. It was a simple game to let off some steam.
Black and white was revolutionary! This shouldn't be on the list!!!
"Revolutionary" doesn't necessarily mean "good".
@@Durwood71 yeah but for the time it was different
@@princecaspen3449only few really know how good of a game it was .. till now I love it .. I owned back when it was in a 3 game bundle on for PC ..black and white / lord of the rings / freedom fighters
@@princecaspen3449 It may have been different, but an open world sandbox game with almost nothing to do does not make for anything more than a short lived novelty.
Right? He said it and the first thing I said was "You take that back!"
oh shit, all this time, falcon was Jake!!! this was the work of a voice changer!!!
Oh my God Mighty Number 9 was astonishingly atrocious 😢
Callisto one of my all time favorite. Not too long linear cinematic experience. But it's true, I don't pay 70 eur for any game. Than my expectations would be different. But everything in game is real like, that means also animations at human speed, not arcade like. Great game. Now you can get BR version for 15 eur. Like going twice to movies.
Always remember: there was somebody at Maxis who had an idea how Spore could be all that it promised, and they just thought it was not needed, and making the shallow version we got, was enough.
Budget and time constraints most likely. Every game has a delivery date, and if they can't make it in time, it goes under, simple as that.
I was down on your video until you slided black and white now you're on my hit list. I took that very personal. Lol
I loved "Advent Rising"! I played it over and over again! Still waiting for part 2!
one day😢
Ok but you gotto admit hype is half the fun in gaming
Wait.... why was Brute Force a disappointment???
I loved that game!
Black & White was so much fun. Half the stuff didn't make sense and some of the stuff you needed to do was so absurd I straight up refused to do it and it would punish you harshly. What a game, loved it.
Speaking of overhyped, thanks back 4 blood for getting me to put left for dead 2 in my amazon cart.

I loved Brute Force when I was a kid! 😅
Callisto Protocol was bashed from day 1. Even though it was an awesome game! I liked it a lot! Bad reviews literally killed this game.
I liked it, I bought it at launch. Great atmosphere and the actors were good. It was like dead space a bit but did it's own thing. It's a good one and done.
You think they had something against the game? I’m playing it now and except for the gfx and setting its pretty mid, maybe it will get better towards the end?
Enter the matrix slander is crazy
whoever made the list just sucked at the game
@@randylahey5463 That's what it looked like to me. I played tf out of that game. It looked like whoever was playing was f'ing up on purpose. I don't remember tank controls. I ran through those levels, beating ass if anything Path of Neo was the inferior game.
@randylahey5463 that game was broken as hell but fun 😁
Why haven't we received a star fox game for the nintendo switch?!?! It's a crime to not have star fox on the switch!
I kind of expected "no man sky" and/or "cyberpunk 2077" on this list. Still, this was a very fun list! Very nostalgic to. I remembered when "spore" and "hellgate london" were big E3 showstoppers back in the day.
Nah both of those games became amazing after a short while
Both have matured a lot and have become much better
Not gon lie....some of these games got me through hard times
Enter the Matrix was a favorite of mine as a kid. Even just the cool flashy green game case design had me hypnotized. Loved that game.
To me Black & White 2 was so much better than the first game, it's basically what the first game should have been
Oh I didn't play it because the reviews were so bad!
