Yeah if Japan went more military instead of eco those Samurai would be though to beat.thats the problem I'm having with this match up

Byzantines are terrible for 1v1 against civs that have strong armored units like MAA, Samurai, Knights.
However if byzantine player gets the time to build eco then they’ve won the match due to snowballing.

i find going neutral trade post for fuedal knights, zghu nu or musofadi can often suprise the opponent and your early investment into mercernary house pays off quite quickly

tbh if japanese went 1 TC instead vs the rush i think they can counter it pretty well

Agreed. Every two TC game that's casted ends badly lol. Still I like kiljardis play here

Exactly this. We're seeing repeated cases of players just mindlessly playing the same build order. It's early in the season so it's understandable.
But this obsession with 2TC as Japanese has lost them a ton of games. I don't see how byzantines can survive a 1TC samurai all in. But jap players wanna boom first, giving time for either an earlier rush or time to FC and xbow the blob.

I play only Byzantines I use a similar strategy is very effective I can say. Went to plat1 from bronze in a day but if the opponent manage to make samurai what is the best counter ? Archers? Or else
