You forgot / didnt know one mechanic - Walls conduct Aqueducts. So you can connect an aqueduct to one side of the wall and continue it on the other side to another cistern. Try it!
Drongo kept saying "cistern system" like it was nothin

It is nothing, for him. He is so much stronger than you.
This makes aoe feel even more like simcity, like you're adding plumbing to connect zones
I like this a lot. It bring the base more alive & give more of a kingdom aspect instead of a village
one thing I really appreciate about this update is the way walls work, much better and cleaner gameplay. makes every city builders happy
It seems like the villagers would be busy in construction a lot more than gathering resource
It's a similar tradeoff with walling, but it seems like the aqueducts and cisterns are built fairly quickly
So you only make one cicrle cistern for military bonus?

Those aqueducts seems like a huge vulnerability, since they can be attacked at different points, making them a liability and a target for the enemy to harass
When you think about it they are an advantage, so whatever harass you do you just take that advantage away, not that big of a deal. Certainly pain for perfectionists.

What we haven't seen so far is walls and towers (with mangonel emplacement) to protect all these, I think that's how you're supposed to play Byzantines. Plus with Akritai and that defence focus of the cistern (Praesidium) it's gonna be hard to get through. Very defense and density focused civ
am I the only one who finds the very odd blue colour of the water in the cisterns and this one japanese landmark just weird? why isn't it as beautiful as the new water graphics which I really dig
i noticed that too, maybe because of our graphic settings? my game is set to normal graphics
the "toi" in "Akritoi" is pronounced like the "tea", Akritoi is the plural for the greek word Akritos. The proper spelling though is akritai or akrites and is pronounced differently with "eh" in the end and with emphasis in the "kri" syllable instead of the "A". I have no clue why the devs spelled it incorrectly.

So if it is the late game and their is no food on the map how do the Byssntines get food ? Do they not get any and they can only do mercenaries?

Byzantines seem to be good vs mongols then. They can't be tower rushed. I like that

Do the cataphracts trample through pikes and palisades? I hope not. That would be way too broken if nothing stops them from breaking through lines.

How are all these civs balanced
They won't be perfectly balanced. When there is multiple factions/civs it is hard to perfectly balance it. That is why other RTS games stick with 3 or 4 factions.

They are incredible. One of the scariest to see getting to a critical mass.

@@Trevil1337 So the game basically turned to pay to win, because from what I've seen the new civilization are way better than the old ones. Like the Japanese for example
@@user-rj8tr6sp7e pretty strong wording for a multiplayer RTS. as a person above said, they need to promote new civs (DLC overall), so they pumping up their capabilities. thankfully, developers do have balance team and stats, if these new civs really are that strong, they'll be tweaked in favor of balance eventually. overall i wouldn't say byz or jap are better/stronger than other civs, just having more unique mechanics. i can assure you, good ol' longbow/zhuge nu/feud maa rush(enter any other strategy) will destroy them as any other civs, u get the general idea

Why don't byzantine have samurai as mercenary? Oh,I know. Because japanese is "new" civ. They "need" to be unique.
Byzantines can get desert raiders but cant get ghazi raiders, so your argument is void
