The Hovercraft was my first major wish list vehicle for my Joes as a kid! Luckily, I was an only child! We were far from rich but weren't poor, even though we struggled some. But I was blessed to have almost every Joe/Cobra figure and some vehicles from the first line up until maybe 90 where I lost interest. But between Gi Joe and wrestling figures, I was set!!!
I started getting GI Joe toys in 1987, but as a collector in recent years I think that '84 was the best year of the original ARAH run. An incredible line-up of figures, especially on the Cobra side, and some amazing, iconic vehicles. Thanks for the enjoyable video, regards from Melbourne, Australia.
I think I got Joe toys in this year. I don’t remember getting any in 83. Loved the Skyhawk! Still my favorite GI Joe toy. Favorite figures were Mutt and Junkyard along with Spirit and Freedom. For Cobra it was definitely Firefly and Storm Shadow. They would double as a Spider-Man figure for me in my imagination. Zartan was really cool too. I had the bivouac and I think a gunner station. My dad got me the little toys. I would earn my own money the following year and get bigger ones and lots of figures.
I enjoyed some of these for sure, idk if I ever had the v2 mail order Cobra Commander. Some of the mail order vehicles I got work featured either so I'm looking forward to the next video. These ones might have been too early for me.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I still have the vintage Zartan figure. Sure, I have the re-issued figure, but that one doesn't change color in the sun. BTY, I can understand his hatred of the sun☀, I burn in the sun🔥 myself. Maybe because I'm a quarter vampire🧛! LOL!
I recently started collecting them again. Went to a yard sale found 12 in a gi joe case bought it for $50. That got me buying again. Over 30 I have now many people wants to buy them from me. I can’t do it tho
I came across an all beige first run Snake Eyes a kid had back in elementary school, any info on that? I've looked it up back several years ago and nothing. I think the kid was from South America or South Africa. I tried to trade for it/buy it and he declined. He barely spoke English though.
