Yoga and Fascia Release 💛 Your Body Will Thank You!

  • Fascia release is not a well know practice, but one your body will thank you for. Fascia is a fibrous connective tissue that is supposed to move with the body supporting joints, muscles, tendons, bones and movement. When the fascia tissues are healthy, they are hydrated and slide freely. With injury and/or age fascia tissues can get bound up and entangled, dehydrated and "sticky". Self-massage and yoga poses will help release the entangled fascia promoting blood flow, hydration, fascia mobility and movement without pain. Learn, explore and live healthy.

    Hello Cheryl, I'm currently taking my YTT and plan to teach seniors. I love your teaching style, your cues are very clear and explanations of muscles and the "why" of certain poses. Loved your fun vid on feet too. This one on fascia is so important and very well done. Thank you!

    Hi Cheryl thank-you for this amazing video and your insite...after suffering from some very severe muscle cramping episodes in both of my legs [ feet included ] which rendered me immobile I found your stretches to be very beneficial....everything you said about the fascia just seemed to make sense...I feel if I continue down this path on a regular basis [ every day ] I may soon be able to run again...I spent 4 weeks on crutches and have seen a few different health professionals but dont seem to be recovering at the rate I was expecting to...any advice you may have would be much appreciated...keep up the great work and good health to you and your family...xox

      Hello and sorry for the delayed response. Computers and technology is amazing when everything works well. First, I hope you are feeling even better and the pain you've been experiencing has lessened. The biggest thing I would say is listen to your docs and your body. Keep moving and gently progressing as your body will allow. Forcing things only makes it worse. Show yourself some grace and kindness. Push...but not too hard. Keep a positive attitude, eat as healthy as you can, drink your water, watch consuming inflammatory items (sugar, etc) and get good sleep. I'll be sending good healing energy out your way. 💪🙏💛

    • @YogawithCheryl
      @YogawithCheryl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so sorry you are dealing with this pain. I would suggest you see a doctor about it to make sure you haven't done something. If you are in constant pain, there is something going on. 😔. Please take care of yourself.🙏

    What size of foam roller are you using?

    • @YogawithCheryl
      @YogawithCheryl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there...so I'm using a 24 inch, but I would recommend the 36 inch. Just feels better. 💛

    Thanks for your helpful video. One question: When using the ball for glute massage (28:44) do you need to be careful not to press on the sciatic nerve? Or is that in a different location? Sometimes when using the ball in that area, I get a sharp pain like I'm pressing on a nerve. Thanks!

    • @YogawithCheryl
      @YogawithCheryl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely!! No zingers or numbness. Use a larger ball and or softer. If the nerve is inflamed, stick with the roller and be gentle or even just some gentle stretches to help create space for the sciatic nerve. Thanks for reaching out!! I hope that helps!!

    Is there a good series of yoga on this channel or anywhere else on the net that targets fascia release/health. Or is the a certain type of yoga that is really good for it?

    • @YogawithCheryl
      @YogawithCheryl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. So fascia release comes with slower yoga flows. I do have a playlist for fascia release with several videos. Adding some gentle movements within the Stretches will help release fascia. I hope that helps.

    • @howiseetheworld3581
      @howiseetheworld3581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YogawithCheryl Thank you so much. I did the lower body and upper body one of yours, and as expected I was feeling a bit sore from the session the next day. Is it a good idea to do more fascia work when you're still sore, or should there be some days rest from it?

    • @YogawithCheryl
      @YogawithCheryl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@howiseetheworld3581 I would recommend a little rest, do some other activities that won't aggravate it. Movement is medicine, so yes...keep moving, but be kind to your body. Listen to it. If it is asking for rest, rest. If you start and it feels "not right" or "not good", stop. Epsom salts baths are amazing to help with soreness. As I'm no doctor, that is my best advice 😊🙏
