This is Boss Level Filmmaking. You are capable of shooting with a small crew because your skills are on point. Absolutely amazing to watch how you shoot without Gimbal and still has perfect movements.
Can you make a full tutorial for your color grading workflow for the SLOG 2/3? If there is a paid course I’d definitely buy it. I am amazed by your work man!
You and your crew are solid and I'm very appreciative of the lengths you went to capture the 720b lights practicality. I own one of these and use it all the time, it's great! Bravo guys!
Love it! Can't get enough of your light breakdowns. Super interesting, and great that you explain in detail how you motivate differente lighting scenarios.
the video I was waiting for!! thank you Jacq. I love this type of content from you. the way you teach really helps me understand lighting even more. you make it seem so simple! hope to see more content like this from you in the future. would love to see other types of environments. interior nighttime, exterior nighttime, exterior daytime, interior day time car, interior night time car, etc. just a suggestion for future content ideas! thanks again
this might be a rookie question but ...What would be the ideal White Balance setting on the camera for a shoot like this combining multiple light temps ? Great video btw!
Not a rookie question at all! I usually do WB for the skin and in this case it was closer to 5200 because the fill light was adding a lot on the talent. This keeps the background warmer but blends well with the rim light.
At 3:33 when you had to use the tube light for fill because of the wall. You could have also gotten a clean plate, put the light in the shot, then composited both shots tog to remove the light in post. Keep up the great work!
this looks so good! im looking for inspiration for a school project and these tips on lighting might just be what I was looking for. thank you so much!🙇♀🙇♀
I wish you have a "cinematic lighting course" you will be an awesome instructor, I learned a lot from in 6mins that I'm not afraid of the word "cinematic" anymore. Please keep doing more videos like this and any tips for what lights a beginner cinematographer should buy
@@jacques_craffordTrust me, I will and you are welcome. And also you are 💯% right about shooting from the dark side, have been watching a lot of films and music videos the exactly steps was taken even in Bollywood movies
Another great video packed with valuable information. I just wish I watched this when it was posted instead of today. I had a shoot a few days later and what I learned from this would have made a big difference. Next time I'll be ready!
Congrats on hitting 70k subs today! Been binging your content since this morning at 69k subs lol. Just picked up a a7s3 so trying to learn how to put it to use 😬
this was such a helpful video, love the framing of all the shots. I have one question. what was your color temp set to on your camera? and did you keep the same color temp in your camera throughout the whole film?
Thanks so much mate! To be honest I can't exaclty remember but I think my temp was around 5200. I kept changing my Kelvin to fit each scene, in this case 5200 gave me a nice balance between the stronger cool fill light and the warm ligth bleeding in from outside.
Excellent video!! I'm a follower now. Question: with the mixed temperature setup you're using (2700 + 5200k) to keep skin tones natural, what WB temperature setting are you using in-camera?? Thnaks!
@@jacques_crafford I am just deciding between buying a pavotube or a light sich as an aputure amaran 200x. What would you recommend me buying as an starting cinematographer?
How do you focus manually? Noticed you are moving around but your hand is not on focus ring attached on rig.. one more thing at 3:48 what is the device attached on right side with kind of 2 round antennas?
I always have a follow focus attached to my rig for incase but in this video I didn't need to focus manual, it was all autofocus. The device is a Hollyland Cosmo C1 wireless transmitter for the Director to monitor the scenes on the screen, it's amazing!!!

Thank You for the breakdown. What would You have loved to have on this shot but didn't, also what would you change if anything. Thanks again!
You're welcome! To be honest if I would change anything I would shoot a little wider on some of the shots, I used only one lens the 35mm F/1.4
YO BUDDY, love these setups,, tip on the boom lights.. utilize ratchet straps!! so much easier to manipulate and takes the risk out
1. Shot on 12 bit RAW or 10 bit?
2. Your method of choosing WB? AWB Lock? Iphone app like KEV? Grey colorboard?
You are amazing! Thank you!
same here
Thanks you guys! I shot it internally 10 BIT. For WB I use a custom Kelvin and dial it in by eye
