Man, this video has some much value ! I've learnt so much in less than 10 mins. This video is a great source of inspiration has a director. Thanks for sharing this with us.
The goat of Cinematic Behind the Scenes filmmaking is back!!! This is definitely my favorite project of yours so far bro⚡️ So sick to see how your productions keep getting bigger and better 🖤
Bro! THANK YOU, that really means the world to me. You're truly one of my biggest inspirations and I find great joy in your success, both on and off this platform. Hope to see you soon :)
As a normal mortal (with one mirrorless and 2 lens), I don't have an accurate idea of all those lights and little lost in it, but I still enjoy it. :) Thank you
So glad to hear that! A lot of these setups can still be done with one person it will just take long ahah. I hope that in time you will consider this to be basic!
Excellent Jacques, many thanks for sharing your insights. The Colour Grading Course is outstanding, one of the best I have taken, love the importance and emphasis you give to the photography. A really good job.
Thanks Ian, really appreciate that. I am forever inspired by your amazing storytelling ability, thanks for making this shoot and the edit EXTRA special!
Another great video full of amazing tips. Jacques I do have a question. In the hospital room scene the ceiling seems low. Why not bounce the light from the ceiling or does it give less control? Love the video thank you!
Thanks so much Kobus, as always your support is GREATLY APPRECIATED! To answer your question.. YES, bouncing would have made it harder to control and block off light. The scrim spreads the light more naturally in the right area. If I could re-do anything I would have blocked out the outside windows with white diffusion but it was on the 3rd floor so it would have been an operation and we only had limited time at the location.
Absolutely great bts 👏 for me as a one man crew a little bit difficult to create 🙈 but I still try to improve my friend 💪🏼 best cinematic greetings from 🇩🇪
I think it's a combination of the lighting, the DR of the FX3 & the grade. I'm honestly shattered by how much TH-cam Compression is killing the quality because it looks so much better before I upload it!
Not sure which scene you're referring to but I only used 2 types of stands. The Boom stands is just a Kupo Combo Boom and the rest were all C-stands. If you're referring to the scene where I bounced the 150 against the roof that was a normal C-Stand.
I usually calibrate everything before the shoot and save the profiles but I had one issue where I had to re-calibrate a lens on set which took about 10 mins. That's not long but it feels like forever if you're on a tight schedule. I'm a big fan of the system and I'd say we used autofocus on about 50% of the shots but the focus puller still played big part and did a great job!

Brother! So happy to hear you found value in it :)
Do you set camera WB to 5600 when using two different colour temperature lights like in the scene with the redhead women at the window? Great video!
Thanks this was very helpful as I plan lighting for a little short film. I always enjoy your videos.
So glad to hear that Scott, hope your film turns out great!

Man the rain on all that gear gives me anxiety 😅 Looks like an awesome shoot! Great work!
They are IP65
Yeah, I got that but because I don't have any water resistant gear, it just makes me uncomfortable lol
Haha I feel you bro! IP55 or not, I still felt it when we switched on the water haha! Thanks for your great support :)

Hi Jacques. Great video as usual. At 2:30 are you sure about the name of the light? This is not the 120C instead 240? Thanks
Insane!
Was the gypsum plant in Cape Town?
Thanks mate! It was actually filmed in Potchefstroom in the North West :)
Pure knowledge
Thanks bro, much appreciated!
Great video!
Thanks so much Jed!
Great video, quick questions what format you record your videos, do you shoot in prores raw or just use monitor for exposing and stuff.
Thanks
Thanks so much! I only shoot XAVC-I internally, Prores RAW is too much work for my Resolve Workflow
Amazing
Yay thanks David!
Cool🎉
Woww 🤩
Thanks bro!
How on earth do you get such smooth rolloffs with no noise in your videos?
I think it's a combination of the lighting, the DR of the FX3 & the grade. I'm honestly shattered by how much TH-cam Compression is killing the quality because it looks so much better before I upload it!
❤❤
What boom stand are you using for the table scene to mount the 120?
Not sure which scene you're referring to but I only used 2 types of stands. The Boom stands is just a Kupo Combo Boom and the rest were all C-stands. If you're referring to the scene where I bounced the 150 against the roof that was a normal C-Stand.
@@jacques_crafford yeah, sorry, I meant the combo boom. Looks great! Cheers
How long does take to change the lens and calibrate it with dji lidar? Were there any problems with it?
I usually calibrate everything before the shoot and save the profiles but I had one issue where I had to re-calibrate a lens on set which took about 10 mins. Thanks mate!
But what to do when you have all the lights, the know how, but no stories to tell or people to create them with... how do you guys tackle this?
Awesome stuff btw as always.
