    Couple things:
    The small transformers are limited to outputting 1000W, so they *can't* overload your wires (you just get brownouts instead, if enough things try activating all at once).
    The oil is from the teleporter room - it's there as a 'hint' as to what is on the other side.
    Incubators left unpowered are a way of 'storing' eggs until they hatch, so you can guarantee X number of eggs won't get smacked open by the egg cracker (as long as the incubator has a higher priority, so it gets the egg first).
    Don't ever power them without automation, they use *a lot* of power to run continuously - using an automation cycle sensor for a fraction of the day (like 10% or 15%) with the incubator on priority 9 will be just as effective as running one continuously, at only a fraction of the power cost - the only thing to make sure of is that the cycle sensor is "on" during the working hours of your ranchers.

    The reason they are not submitting a bioscan is because they need a tile to stand on outside the door they cannot reach up diagonally to submit it. The crude oil was already on the floor when you opened up that section. If you copy something then move far away it sometimes disappears just change the material it is made from and it will appear then change it to the material you want or just guess where it is and put it down.

    Hi Biffa!
    So, 96 is quite important for the stables as that's 8 hatches - one tile less and it's 7.
    Incubators are not needed - at least at cycle 51. One ranch can be managed manually - the only automation is egg removal (strictly not needed but since you have conveyor loaders why not) activate the sweeper with a critter sensor. Just drop eggs in your water pool. Move out manually the first N eggs, where N is what you need to fill the stable(s). Let them hatch and move the critters in the stable.
    It's a playstyle thing, but I'm sensing you're overdoing a bit the rails. Sweepers aren't efficient at all out of the box. They load 1000kg in the loader, then every second they load 20kg.
    You can increase efficiency and reduce the energy bill with a timer, that activates them about every 50 seconds (it takes that long to empty a loader @!20kg/s).
    Or let the dups do the job.
    E.g. put a couple of feeders in the stables and a bin (next to the ladders). Let dups fill the bins. Specialized dups carry ~1400kg per trip - and soon you can have most dups do that - which saves A LOT of work from loaders at 20kg/s.
    I suggest you reseach ranching divergents instead. Or use wild ones to boost a crop of grubfruits. Sweetles evolve into grubgrups, and combined with a fertilizer station you get an incredible boost, which makes high quality food (grubfruit preserve) with very long shelf life.
    A bunch of plants can sustain the colony with little sulfur required.
    Also long shell life to begin with has 3 important implications:
    1. you don't need do deep freeze the food much - CO2 + a fridge keeps the food for very long (good for early game)
    2. it's good as a rocket fuel for that very reason
    3. combined with spice - you get food with infinite shelf live w/o deep freezing
    grubfruit preserve is superior to BBQ - but if you do want BBQ, ranching tame sweetles with grubgrub plants around, gives you a bit of grubfruit preserve, and a lot of BBQ, because you force sweetles to produce grubgrub egg, combining 50% more yield (one egg every 4.5 cycles instead of 6 like hatches) and 50% bigger eggs. That's tons of BBQ compared to hatches.
    You may keep one ranch (or even 1/2 a ranch) of stone hatches, for coal (it goes into steel and diamond production).

      @foamyesque 12 āļ§āļąāļ™āļ—āļĩāđˆāļœāđˆāļēāļ™āļĄāļē

      I use mechanized airlocks instead for egg removal. You can pin hatches in 4x4 area by means of a door + block on top, and floor it with a pair of mechanized airlocks. Drop 'em down into a pool beside your cook for the drowning. Hatches won't fall through an open door, so no problems there. That way you can get ranching up and going way before you have a mechatronics dupe or piles of refined metal for the transport system.
      You will want an incubators to put a minimum count of eggs into in order to sustain the population but there's no need to power one.

    Why yes, we do scream at the screen sometimes, it’s the best part :D for me the screaming started when you decided to crack open all the Hatchling eggs ^^ but you caught it quickly so it was very short-lived frustration lol. Also I’m getting the vibes that you’re familiar with the base game but not the Spaced Out DLC, which is VERY exciting. It’s a fantastic DLC imho but there’s just so much planning and micromanagement involved, it really hurts your brain after a while. Hope you have fun! :D

    Just be careful with that Water Cooler. Dupes will put germy water in it if they have the opportunity.
    Edit: Also - the Oil is an indicator that if you go through the teleporter, there's Oil on the other side. You're guaranteed a safe environment to come out of (as well as a pretty good Dupe waiting on the other side in the cryo tank).

    Setting up a drowning tank (evolution chamber) for the eggs is a lot more productive than using them for omelets. The biggest advantage is that it doesn't require dupe labor to crack the eggs, and the food is of higher quality (barbeque vs omelets). But also some critters produce a lot more than 2800 kcal per deceased organism which means that it goes even further, whereas no matter what egg it is it will always give the same amount of food. Plus if you're not breaking the eggs then it's hard to end up in a loop where you've accidentally destroyed all the eggs but your critters are too old to reproduce. Eventually you have so many eggs it becomes a non-issue but not if you're breaking the eggs for omelets

    You USED to be able to input germy water to crops just fine but they did change that a while ago. IIRC last time I did that they look fine until they're ready for harvest, then they are covered with food poisoning and the dropped food is covered too. They also nerfed that with electrolyzers, germy water will make germy oxygen. The nice thing in Spaced Out though is radiation will kill germs so its a bit easier to make a germ killing set up than base game

      @SalamanderBSC 12 āļ§āļąāļ™āļ—āļĩāđˆāļœāđˆāļēāļ™āļĄāļē

      That should still be fine though - the grill / gas range kills germs on the ingredients, and duplicants can only get food poisoning from eating / drinking, not breathing it in.
      There's a slight chance of re-infecting cooked food from touching germy ingredients first, but that's not common, and is easily solved with a wash basin next to the grill, or just using sweepers to put in raw ingredients / take out cooked food.

    @10:00 Might as well print any food that doesn't go off (muckroot, nutrient bar, etc) because you can always use it in your early rockets. Of course, if you get to the point you know you don't want a particular food anymore you can feed it to your hatches and convert it to a tiny bit of coal..
    @12:30 For a no-electric no-pipes filtering solution, use a pitcher pump and a few bottle emptiers set to auto-bottle, and lower priority. Dupe labor, sure, but they do it only when they run out of tasks
    @21:25 Don't set your egg cracker to infinite unless you have incubators, or you'll run yourself out of hatches. If you have an incubator or two, you can set them to higher priority and they'll save one to hatch (heh) and crack the rest.

  • @hubertnnn
    @hubertnnn 12 āļ§āļąāļ™āļ—āļĩāđˆāļœāđˆāļēāļ™āļĄāļē

    You cannot get overloads. The transformers act as protection of the circuit preventing it from overloading.
    Instead some of the devices wont be able to work, which is fine in most cases.
    I typically go up to 3000W per wire before I see any issues, but I have not had any bigger problems until 5000W.
    The reason is that most machines only use power when they do something.
    So for example your stove only uses power during the cook's shift, while the water filter will only run during break time (when someone uses the bathroom),
    so even though they will add together in the max wire load, they will never run at the same time (unless you introduce multiple shifts).
